Ahmad Jamal and this combo "own" this groove and they know it!! Just witness their enjoyment as they weave and maneuver through this masterpiece. RUclips should get rid of that pesky thumbs down button. It'll only encourage the wrong and hateful viewers and wusses who don't have the sense just to simply move on and go elsewhere to find something a lot more credible to hate than to mess things up for those who are really enjoying this.

What a lovely memory that you shared. Next to our wonderful and loyal and loving dogs, isn't jazz the BEST!!! PLEASE dance again, but with someone you love to help to steady you!!! Good health and the best to you, Janet.
I first heard Ahmad play this in 58. It was on an Argo LP and played by Sid McCoy on WCFL radio. Sid had a jazz show from 11 to 2am daily. I lived in Chicago and listened every night. This tune and rendition immediately struck lightening.
"This is your boy Sid McCoy." I was 19 years old in 1959 and in the Air Force at Westover AFB in Massachusetts. In the wee hours of the morning we could pick up Sid McCoy's show all the way up there. Your comments brought back a flood of memories.
@@millardallgood6418 I faithfully listened to Sid from 56 to 62. Was introduced to so many jazz greats. Loved the background music of Stan Getz and Johnny Smith playing “Moonlight in Vermont.” WCFL 1000 on the AM dial, Chicago.
After years I have begun to reacquaint myself with jazz... remembering it's beauty to the ears and it's ability to touch one's soul. Thank you to all it's artist... Miles, Coltrane,Mangione,Prysock and more...live on !!!
OMG to hear this live after all these years! It nearly brings tears to the eyes and a jolt to my soul! Thanks for posting! Where has all this good gone?
I got hooked on Ahmad Jamal in 1962. When my friends were groovin on Chuck Berry I would sneak in Poincienna and they would laugh and say" more Augie Malted music?" - they got to love it too. But I lost touch and was delighted to see he is the same great talent - nearly 60 years of beautiful music.
This is my go to start my day song, the bass and drum players are in that pocket so tight it's like one person playing three instruments! Its. A beautiful thing.
Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom!! Happy memories of hearing your LP's while you were doing housework!! Poinciana became of my favorites...60 yrs later I still appreciate this phenomenal musician and this music ❤❤😊🎉
That was a great time to be a live in the city. Five Spot, Vanguard, The Gate. Miles, Monk, Mingus, Dizzy. All magical, great audiences and every tune a trip. I love RUclips! haha
Like I said before, Ahmad Jamal with this tune turned my life around at my age of 12 years old in 1961. From our deaf parents who never knew music, my older sister bought the Ahmad Jamal Live Album at the Pershing Hotel in NY 1959 album with the iconic Poinciana tune. We played it on the old record player. I was instantly hooked on this sound. This new music to me of which I had never known so I was instantly hooked with a 12 year old hypnotic self-induced addiction to something new after Grandma told me to walk down the street to take the Saturday morning piano lessons from the lady. Yes, I'm playing piano again with all the sexy arpeggios. Not bad but others say I should put a vase on the local public piano's they have everywhere here, haha. I was able to see Ahmad Jamal a number of times not too many years ago at Jazz Alley in Seattle. Dean Jackson Seattle
I have the original LP with this track which I listened to in a site hut back in 1964. I still love listening to it as well as the versions on RUclips.
I 1st heard the album when I was 10yrs. old in the late 50's, played by my oldest brother Morris Sanders. He's not with us, but I still love the artist and the great music. Thurmond Michael Sanders

Roger Newcomb
Music like that needs permission to leave & I would have to die first... :-)

I used to play this piece almost daily, holding my Maltese in my arms and dancing around my apartment. My Maltese loved it and so did I. Now my little one is gone, and I’m too old and unsteady to dance, but I still listen to this and love it.
What a lovely memory that you shared. Next to our wonderful and loyal and loving dogs, isn't jazz the BEST!!! PLEASE dance again, but with someone you love to help to steady you!!! Good health and the best to you, Janet.
The bass is so on point.
Jamal's masterpiece.
R. I. P. Great man! 😢
I remember in about 1959 when this was at the top of the charts. Loved it then and it's still great with many new embellishments.
ruhe in Frieden Ahmad...Gott ist mit Dir...wir danken für Dein Werk
After years I have begun to reacquaint myself with jazz... remembering it's beauty to the ears and it's ability to touch one's soul. Thank you to all it's artist... Miles, Coltrane,Mangione,Prysock and more...live on !!!
I was 18 in 1960. Had own apt in Basement of motel. In college. Bought album with this tune. Never forget it. Thanks so much
One of the best in jazz
OMG to hear this live after all these years! It nearly brings tears to the eyes and a jolt to my soul! Thanks for posting! Where has all this good gone?
I first heard Ahmad decades ago play this beautiful song when he was probably about 30. At nearly 90 he still plays it so amazingly well.
RIP genius! thanks for all the amazing music!
Love love love. I’m dancing 💃🏽
Apart form the genius(es) playing here , the sound quality (recording and mixing) is quite remarkable!! wow!
I remember watching Ahamd Jamal perform in 1968 at the Village Gate.
He was great then, even better now - wow! :)
That was a great time to be a live in the city. Five Spot, Vanguard, The Gate. Miles, Monk, Mingus, Dizzy. All magical, great audiences and every tune a trip. I love RUclips! haha
The Master of Dynamics, Ahmad Jamal.
Wonderful audience in Paris.

Great story!
Yes! my first of his albums; bought it right after he blew me away at the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival. Still got it, still play it, scratches and all!
