100% they are going to launch an induction burner option for Ironwood. They have the spot for it on the shelf, and controller has the plug for it on the back.
Bought an Ironwood XL recently and have 4 cooks on it. Its a great cooker. Super good smoke, big enough to feed an army and looks great on the deck. This thing is quite large and weighs about 250 lbs. Not worth the $1900 for the Timberline. Not by a long shot.
At the end of the day if I blindfolded you and gave you food from each one there wouldn't be any difference. So really it comes down to is the full cabinet, stainless grills and induction side burner worth the $1900 more? For some who just want the best version they will, for the budget minded people they won't and for the people looking for value on stretching a dollar they will opt for the ironwood and use the extra $1900 to buy another grill for their outdoor kitchen probably with a side burner because more grills is always better.
I buy everything based on reviews. Some said this was hard to put together ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt some guy said 2 hours and 2 beers later. I didn't drink beer like I was going to. I didn't feel like going to the store. I'm assuming I would have had at least 3. I took my time. Stepped outside for a cigarette break a couple times but all in all it was about a 3 hour project for me but it wasn't like it was difficult or anything . Only pictures but everything is pretty organized and labeled although I didn't see any #s on the actual pieces like it shows in the diagrams. Only the screws were labeled. On the cardboard part of the packaging on the back side. I put it together in my living room too. It wasn't supposed to rain today but it's Michigan and I couldn't wait so I put it together in my living room. Without beer but beer would definitely have made it more fun that's for sure. I'm giving this a 5 for easy assembly. I'll update after it stops raining when I can take it out of my living room and cook some food on it. Hope this helps at least for people who think they can't put this together because I did and you can too . And there are extra screws. I got nervous and immediately came here to see if others had the same experience and they have. You're not doing it wrong. There will be extra screws. Be patient. Don't rush it. Drink beer. Happy assembling
Bought an Ironwood XL, after shopping the Yoder YS640, and the Timberline XL. When the Ironwood XL came out, and it has the same computer as the Timberline XL, and it suits all of "my" needs, I purchased it. I have not had it for long, but with the wireless meat probes (cost extra) I have smoked some amazing meats. I am extremely happy with my cooker.
Where did you find out or hear about the option for an induction burner on the new ironwood XL? I asked Traeger and they said there is no plans for that and it’s just a simple shelf.
This is the way I look at it how many friends do you have because I have cooked for 18 to 21 friends that is why I got timberline xl if you are cooking for less then 12 friends then get the iron wood xl but I love more room the better but is just my way of thinking there both great
It looks like the inserts and grates while different materials are the same size like the ash and grease drip catcher. can you swap them and eventually upgrade the Ironwood to have everything the Timberline has except the cooking SQFT like the grates to stainless steel and tray buy buying timberline replacment parts as they old parts start to rust?
@@tinmaninc2023 I thought the same thing so I did a "test" while checking them both out at our local Ace here in the States and there is a difference with the top grates. While I could swap the bottom grates, the top grates on the Timberline XL are slightly shorter than the top grate on the Ironwood XL due to the side walls being thicker on the Timberline XL.
Ironwood has always been the cheaper version that always has been able to keep up with the Timberline models… I’ve had both, no major cook difference, Main thing I’ve notice is bragging rights. 😂
On either model can you sear meat ? I know the induction option can use a cast iron pan but I have a Pit Boss and can slide open a window to expose a flame, or is this really just smoking ?
Temp range is up to 500 degrees. In my experience the need to sear meat is less warranted on a pellet grill then it is on gas. In the past I have used Grill Grates as a searing option on a Traeger but don't really find the need for it.
I really like the looks of the timberline better but not for $1900 more. I think Traeger messed up making it double the cost ironwood for largely cosmetic differences.
I tend to agree with you Cody. I do have a Timberline home on my deck and I do the love the full cabinet and side burner option. I still haven't decided if that is worth the extra $$$ though.
Thats a great question..... I guess first thing is new style with new touch screen. The body is completely different for the better. PAL rail system has more options for better customization, has lower shelf for storage, has option for new induction side burner and future pizza oven, can use wireless probes, all in one grease and ash system which is close to self cleaning, no foil liners needed either and I'm sure there are more. Hope that helps
@@tinmaninc2023 Thank your. My only concern is I would like to use this on regular basis and I don’t know about cooking just 1 or 2 chicken breasts on such large grill.

Hoping the Ironwood makes it to Australia, nice BBQ

I hope so because I hate porcelain coated grates.
I would think so. Its only to order the Timberline XL parts.

@@joesabella3300 I never thought about trying the top grates. I need to do this.

Does Traeger release a new model every year?

On the Timberline it would have been nice if the “tub” was stainless steel for the money. 🤛👍😎🦅🙏🇺🇸
What’s the practical difference between the stainless steel grates on the Timberline vs the porcelain enamel grates on the Ironwood?
Corrosion would be the only difference....but enamel isn't affected as much when there is no open flame.
Stainless is nice but almost 10
Years of consistent cooking on my Traegers, I have never had a problem with the porcelain.

Do these two pellet smokers use ceramic igniters?
No they have the same style hot rods they have always used.
@@tinmaninc2023 That’s a huge bummer. I don’t see why they didn’t upgrade the part most often to fail.
you can buy a portible induction cook top for $100. how is the Timberline soo much more $$?!
What's the main difference between Pro series which is about 1000$ vs new Ironwood XL which is double the price? Is it worth 1000$ more?

@Kapil Vallamkonda if thats the case then go with the Ironwood and not rhe Ironwood XL. Same grill just 12" narrower
I have the timberline xl but damn do i want the iron wood 🤣🤣🤣 ill have to get it
Ironwood XL is just a better buck for your money
I agree. Stainless doesn't make much difference in a pellet grill in my opinion
