Welcome to those who are new (almost all of you haha). I am so completely overwhelmed by the love and support y’all are showing! I am very busy which may make uploads kinda random, but the motivation y’all have given me will help a lot towards my videos. I plan to make every other video/every two videos BTS so keep on the look out. Again, thank you so much! Army is the best! 💜

No one has ever been more surprised to be a BTS fan than me. I am 71 years old. I never liked rap and couldn't imagine being interested in a group from Korea, but here I am. Two years in and still on fire for them. I have such admiration for all of them. They habe worked so hard for their success. One thing to remember is when they say JungKook was 15 when he started, he was really only 13 when he moved to Seoul to live in that tiny apartment with the rest of them. Jin became his stand in Mom. He got him ready for school and got him there on time. Jin was 18 at the time.

Don't listen to the haters. Typically they are haters because they are jealous. Always make the decision for yourself. The BTS members are not only talented, they are an amazing group of men who strive to do good for the world and help others. I am so happy you watched this video. I would suggest you watch The Rise of Bangtan. It's 21 Chapters but well worth your time. You will learn the history of K-pop and see the BTS from before debut to now. It's an incredible series.

Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. Update they now have over 1000 awards. All awards are kept at Hybe headquarters in the BTS museum. Jin is currently a private first class in the Korean Military. JHope just got his enlistment date. Suga is heading for a world concert tour as Agust D (sold out) then will start his enlistment process. Jimin just dropped his first Solo Studio Album. Each member will finish their solo work then will enlist in the military for their manditory services. If everything goes according to plan BTS will regroup in 2025/2026. 💜💜💜 To learn more you should watch Xcelest's The Hardship of BTS from 2013-2021. You mentioed they seem close like family they are. They notice when one member is missing they don't feel complete. An example of how much they love each other when JHope was headlining Lollapalooza 2022 he wasn't doing well by himself. Hybe staff mentioned this to Jimin who just hopped a plane and arriving the day before before JHope was to perform just so JHope wasn't alone and he could eat and sleep. There is so much content to watch and you get to see their personalities and how truely humble and kind they really are.

It's said that you don't find BTS...they find you....when you need them. I was caring for my daughter who was dying of cancer. Their music helped me get through that difficult time. Their song ON was my fight song when I needed strength to carry on. Then when my daughter died they gave me LIFE GOES ON. I know that I am only one of millions of ARMYs, but I feel like BTS wrote some of their music just for me. Welcome to ARMY!

Most of the info is accurate, but a few things HAVE changed due to their mandatory military enlistment (all men in SK between certain ages MUST complete 18 months in service (depending on the service) including musicians, actors etc. exemptions can only be granted under specific circumstances such as medical conditions or if the male is the breadwinner for his family. Jin has been enlisted since December, with Jhope following soon. In the meantime, each member is undertaking solo activities. Also, since May last year, their trophy count (group achievements as well as solo) is now over 900

Greetings from Australia... Thank you for sharing your BTS journey with us..... Not sure if you know.... Korean people count age differently to others...
Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most videos, including this one, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust.
(So JK was only 13 when he joined Big Hit and 15 when he debuted. )
In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on 01 Jan every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. ....
Year of birth - Actual age at Debut on 13June13 (Year and age became trainee)
    Jin 1992 - 20 yo (2011 - 18yo)
    Suga 1993- 20 yo (2011 - 17yo)
    JHope 1994 - 19 yo (2011 - 17yo)
    RM 1994 - 18 yo (2010 - 15yo)
    Jimin 1995 - 17 yo (2012 - 16yo)
    V 1995 - 17 yo (2011 - 15yo)
    JK 1997 - 15 yo (2011 - 13yo)
Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age.
    EG: TaeHyung (V) born 30 Dec 1995 ...... current International Age 27 (Korean Age 29). ... 2 years difference
So Tae born 30 Dec 95 is 1 year old, then on 01 Jan 96 he is 1 more year older (so they would say he is 2 years old, when we would say he is 2 days old.)
So he was considered 29 in Korea since 01 January, we would say he is 27 turning 28 in Dec.
It's a different way of looking at age, from new years day - Tae is living his 29th year (since conception) - instead of - he turned 27 (since birth)....
The Korean Government is recently bringing international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos will be referencing Korean age.
    💜Borahae

I have loved watching you getting to know these amazing young men and become baby ARMY. I too, used to just assume KPop would be like a Korean version of Backstreet Boys even though my daughter said they weren't. It took me 2 more years before I started to listen. The fateful day was in Sept 2020. I was feeling very low because of being cooped up and separated from friends due to COVID. I suddenly heard a beautiful song playing in the kitchen. My daughter had her music on loud while washing up. I learnt shortly after the song was called The Truth Untold and even though I couldn't understand the lyrics I could feel the sad and hurt emotions in their voices and the then V's voice sang in English "I'm so afraid" and it really made my heart melt. I then asked about them and my daughter loved teaching me who was who. BTS brought amazing joy to the house despite the pandemic and really reconnected my daughters and me. Our relationships are so much stronger. Watch any episode of Run BTS or behind the scenes and they have you laughing along in seconds, they are so goofy. Great role models for my children too as they promote togetherness, acceptance, love yourself, kindness and hard work. All this while making unbelievably good music.
The storyline runs through many albums and from 2015 and is still not finished. It is called the Bangtan Universe or BU and starts with the MV for I Need You. If you want to delve deeper ARMY can help guide you to the correct sequence of content. It is complex and long, and includes a webtoon, notes, and a mobile game! Or you can cheat and watch an explanation video 😂
I recommend BTS Festa Room Live 2021 next. It is a medley of snippets from several of their B sides and really showd their musical diversity. It might help you to where to start. Borahae

    In an interview with Jimin:
When the tracklist of the album was revealed, many noticed that the prerelease single was designed as “pt. 2” despite the fact that Jimin doesn’t have any existing songs to his name titles “Set Me Free”. He confirmed that it’s a nod to a track on bandmate Suga’s second mixtape D2. “Their isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide one of two part,” he explains. “But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and Suga’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.”

I wrote this as I was watching:
Time stamp 3:51-That is President Kim Nam-joon and his cabinet member's!
Time stamp 3:55- So this clip is from a show created by MNet, (an asian broad casting company?) called American Hustle Life. It was a mini series of sorts that followed baby BTS to Las Angelas where they had a two week Hip-Hop boot camp, (basically) and it was a way for them to learn, (from the source) of their love for Hip-Hop music and culture, it includes them working and learning from the likes of Warren G and Coolio. At the end of the show they had to put on a free to the public concert, this is them handing out flyer's to promote that concert. For me this clip is can be a tiny bit misleading because many people learning about BTS may see this as what they had to do on a daily basis to gain notice when that is not the case.
Thank you for your reaction and your sincerity. I hope you continue down the rabbit hole and I hope that if you are ever having a bad day, just think of BTS or look up some of their funny content. I guarantee they will help you. There's so much more I could say about them but I'm not trying to write a novel.
I would also suggest you watch Xceleste's introduction video. This one is good for learning about each individual where as her's gives a good overview of the band as a whole, such as the meaning behind their name and their relationship with ARMY, I think they pair together very well.
Time stamp 24:27-Yup they have a story line called the BU (Bangtan Universe) that runs through the albums, which is a whole nother rabbit hole!
They do wear colored contacts quite frequently.
Thank you for giving them a chance, so often they are written off as a typical Western American/British boy band, (usually because the west has been mostly exposed to their song's like Butter, Dynamite( Written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar and produced by Stewart) and Permission to dance (Written by Ed Sheeran). These songs were written completely in English and were light and catchy on purpose in order to sooth as many people as possible during the pandemic.
    💙💜💜💜💜💜💜🐳♾

I have heard both Dynamite and Butter (which is why I’m not going to react to those to keep it authentic), but I knew that those weren’t their best work. I know they write a lot of their own songs that sound great because it’s their own! Thank you for watching!

Hi there, thank you for reaching to the guys.. Let's see if we can help you a little more..57 yr old Army here. Watched these guys grown from teenagers into some of the most humble talented gifted artist and young men the world has to offer💜 The vlives are so much fun.. RM just comes and hangs out with us
Yoongi comes and usually gives us such uplifting words J-Hope usually dances for us Jin cooks and eats with us
JK takes song requests and gives us a mini show
V does so many different things, sometimes he sings, sometimes it's just about connecting with us and sharing.. He has such an old soul and he's so funny and unpredictable
Jimin builds arts n crafts with us
RM is a lyrical genius, especially the way he uses wordplay even between languages, composes using different beats flows rhythms.. He's also the only one who does not have a driver's license
Yoongi is my bias and I love how he's so savage.. He seems like a very cold and distant person but he's very caring and loving, he's such an introvert and a phenomenal genius when it comes to making music
J-Hope is a phenomenal dancer and headlined at Lollapalooza last year. Hobi is the sunshine of the group
Jin was cast on the street getting off the bus that's true, it has happened twice to him... He did not sing or dance at all before he became a trainee..
Jungkook was only 13/14 when he joined as a trainee, he loves his brothers and Army so very much, loves to take risks, he's pitch perfect and talented in so many things. He's called the "golden maknae"because he's just good at everything he does🤷
V was hidden because the company feared he would be approached by other companies because of his striking good looks.V's voice is like a river of melted chocolate and his vocal range is amazing. He loves jazz and he feels like an old soul to me. He's very spontaneous.
Jimin is pure perfection when he dances, the feelings and emotions he's able to protray is amazing. He also had the shortest time as a trainee, around 7 months only.
The most amazing part of army singing Young Forever is that every Army knew all the words and they sang in Korean..
My advice is now that you've watched the guide go back and start at the beginning with No More Dream and We are Bulletproof... On another note.. The reaper that talked smack at the beginning to RM and Suga, well he's in prison and our guys changed the world💜💜💜💜💜

Jimin just released a song called Set Me Free Pt. 2, if you react to new releases in a timely fashion it will help you get better traffic to your channel. I suggest watching the music vid + dance practice vid, they're both very good. There's also a "behind the scenes" vid for how they shot the music vid, if you're interested in seeing that.
Their rapper RM also just released a new feature a few days ago, Smoke Sprite by So Yoon ft. RM.
For any group BTS song music vid, there is usually a corresponding dance practice vid. It makes for a more satisfying experience to watch both. Mic Drop that you reacted to also has a very cool dance practice vid (choose the one titled MAMA dance break ver.), they include a cool dance break in the middle.

If anyone mocks your BTS journey, know that you are among doctors, lawyers, psychologists, and even NASA engineers.

I never thought to ask about where they keep 700+ awards. At that point, you don't just have a trophy room. You'd have to have a hoarders den just full of trophies stacked on top of each other. I bet their label houses them.
The ironic part is that while BTS are humble kings who appreciate the honor of receiving awards and accolades, we know from watching Run BTS episodes that they'd all rather receive food or gift cards instead of trophies.

Hi Garrett! This was a great video and I feel like you’ll really enjoy this journey so I’m subbing. A few things I wanted to say (sorry if this gets long).
Firstly, “they’re probably the biggest boyband” they’re actually the biggest music act in the world, like, by the numbers. Bigger than Taylor Swift, Drake, Beyonce, any other western artist you can name. It’s shocking to hear because they are criminally underrated but it’s actually true lol.
Second, thank you for acknowledging your past dislike of them and where it came from. I’ve also been a bandwagon hater and it takes guts and maturity to move past that. 💜
I also wanted to let you know if you’re going to be reacting to any new releases (I see army reccing them in the comments) then you’re supposed to wait at least 24 hours after the release to post your video. That rule exists so you don’t draw streams away from the official video during a crucial time. ARMYs are very serious about streaming and this is important to us. A lot more people will enjoy your videos and sub if they can see you’re a respectful person who is truly interested in BTS message instead of one of many, many reactors hopping on the hype train for clout.
I’m so excited for you, because like objectively speaking BTS is f$$$ing dope and if you keep watching their stuff your mind will be blown. They will never stop surprising you. I’m 33 and I love music, like, all kinds of music. I’ve been to big stadium concerts, music festivals, small punk shows, and everything in between. I have NEVER seen anything like this group of artists. They will destroy any concepts you have about music and the music industry. Never try to put them in a box, trust me. And you can appreciate them and be a fan, but it’ll be a while before you’re an ARMY lol. You should at the very least hear more than one song, and be able to recognize them by name and face and voice.
Just trust ARMY to guide you. Know that anything they recommend is gonna be fire. Some songs have explanation videos that you’re really going to want to watch with them. Also live performances, if you can believe it, they’re actually better live. Never forget to turn on the captions. The lyrics are an extremely important part of the package. (Although some stuff like certain lives and dance practice videos won’t have lyrics). ONLY PUT ON THE LYRICS IF THEY’RE THE ENGLISH ONES, NEVER USE AUTO TRANSLATE.
Please let me know if you would like any suggestions or help navigating this journey.💜💜💜💜

And yes, you can now consider yourself an Army! hahaha I met them and started following their work about 1 year ago, so I still consider myself a baby Army, although I've already listened to almost all of their albums, and watched a good part of their content, but since BTS has a huge amount of content, I still have a lot to discover haha
By the way, now I'm trying to catch up on the episodes of RUN BTS, I'm halfway there, but recently they recorded new episodes for this year. I recommend watching it because it allows us to discover even more about each one and their personalities, who they are in their daily lives and the way they live with each other. I would love to see your reaction to some episodes, they are really fun! I'll leave a link as a suggestion for you to react, a preview of the entertainment hahaha and it's also a challenge:

I keep the list of suggestions from my other comment, but I want to add Jimin's new song that he recently released. It's called Set Me Free Pt 2, and it will be on his first solo album that he will release on the 24th of this month, Friday!!! I'll leave the MV link, it's absurdly amazing!

Always, always really excited when anybody sits down to watch this. I have watched maybe about 30 reactions only 3 did I not watch to the end. This is the only guide lets you see behind the scenes and it gives you an idea how they managed to stay together over 10 years and live together most of that. Naturally hilarious their brotherhood alleviates the stress of the punishingly hard schedules of the hardest working most prolific super group. I will say in recent years J Hope has emerged as a power house. Sold out the main stage Lollapalooza over 100 000 not including pay for view online viewers watching it live. The concert oc his debut album broke all records. Despite known for his dancing skills this featured little dancing by Hope instead concentrating on his electrifying Jack in yhe Box album and the insane set design and live band. If you like rap it's a must see online.

I used the quotes because I believe you didn't really start off having an actual opinion of BTS but rather built a wall before you even knew much at all about them and, as your said, jumped on the "hate bandwagon".
It seems you were also very young when you became aware of the guys so it could just mean you've matured and that's why your initial hatred seems silly now. Welcome to the rabbithole💜I've been in for the past 8 years and there seems to be no going back :')

I wouldn’t say “not connected” because while it wasn’t intentional it does in a story kind of way and also while Jimin says it doesn’t connect (in my opinion he meant it was intentional being like part 1&2) but he does mention how Suga’s is like the feeling/emotions you feel before Jimin’s Set Me Free. Hopefully this makes sense. In a interview with Jimin:
When the tracklist of the album was revealed, many noticed that the prerelease single was designed as “pt. 2” despite the fact that Jimin doesn’t have any existing songs to his name titles “Set Me Free”. He confirmed that it’s a nod to a track on bandmate Suga’s second mixtape D2. “Their isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide one of two part,” he explains. “But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and Suga’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.”
Anyways just my thoughts and opinion though. (No hate)

Then xCeleste vids : This is BTS and This is BTS army are quick introduction to BTs as group and the fandom....
Lastly, xCeleste BTS HARDSHIP ... I really think this is an important video as this explains the journey is not smooth sailing .. we need to always acknowledge the pains to enjoy and appreciate the success in my opinion. This is a reminder, not to dwell in past , but to know WHAT WE STAND FOR.
Again, hahaha sorry this is a lot for sure to take on.. 😅😅😅😅😅 I guess we are just always excited to find people who wanted to give BTS a chance to enter their lives ... And we wanted to make sure you can get the basics so that you won't get lost 😅😅😅
Feel free to check the BTS content you want, when you want.. the fact that your giving time and effort to check BTS is already happiness for us ARMY. ☺
may you have a happy BTS journey

Thank you, it is definitely overwhelming haha, but y’all have given me the motivation I need to continue down this journey and get me excited. So whatever y’all want/recommend, I will check out 🤪☺️

@@garrettsgist BTS HAS YEARS worth of contents. 😅 But I really recommend to get all the introductions and foundations down first as this will let you get an idea what you will be getting into.
If you are interested in the BTS story lines, it is an accumulation of story telling from multiple albums, MV, novel and webtoon.. IT IS A LOT TO DIGEST and an overwhelming ton of info and are actually meant for Hardcore ARMY 😅 but if you really do want to check it , I recommend BTS STORY SUMMARY by xCeleste , as most she got a series for the running story line and theories .. 😅 but again, warning ... THIS IS A LOT OF INFO, so i suggest to just check the music out first .. ☺️☺️☺️
If I was a new ARMY, I would check the intros and basic first, get to know the group, then each member .. then check the genre that best interest me ☺️ then give the other genres a chance..
*BTS are ARTISTS AND MUSIC LOVER.* For me , this is what sets them apart from most Kpop idols/groups . They just have a pure love for the art and music and it reflects to all their work. 😌😌😌
I hope that you find a part of BTS that would best resonate with you. As we always say, BTS does not find you, you FIND BTS when u actually needed it the most. 😌😌
May you have a wonderful BTS journey 💜💜💜
Ps: BTS right now are doing solo work, so it would be a while for you to see all of them (OT7) for recent performances and activities... So, maybe once Ur done checking them as group, you can also check their solo work, like how u checked Jhope - On the street ft JCole ☺️

also, when you do end up finding the time to react to more of bts, i would recommend starting from the beginning - their debut song, No More Dream.
at the moment, as they are on a temporary break due ro compulsory military service, they are each working on individual albums!
RM, j-hope and Jimin have all released theirs - Jimin actually released his (FACE) on friday!!
they also have a show called Run BTS, which is great if u wanna get to know the members as people rather than artists.
    I hope u have fun :)

I'm sorry about this, but I'm probably going to add thoughts as I have them while watching your reaction. I'll try to be brief, but it can get long ....
Both RM and Suga were disapproved of for choosing to do music. RM had been a top student (in the country) and him mum wanted him to study more, and broke his mic. Suga's mum burned a lot f his song manuscripts and he lost all that work. You can understand their reservations about music when you remind yourself what a massive risk they took - everyone else in the music was confident they would fail, and told them so - loudly and publicly. One time in a concert Suga burst into tears and assumed that particular bowing posture towards one section of the audience, with his face to the floor. He had seen his parents - the first time he felt they had forgiven him. Of COURSE, now, all the parents approve, and even seem to consider all the members their own children.
Whatever their disapproval, it is likely they had all consented to their kids joining the training, because in Korea, kids just don't defy. Compliance is strong in the culture, and parental authority usually absolute. V actually called his dad for permission before he agreed to audition. - all he said was "do you want to - then go ahead - work hard, do well". And years before that, when he told his dad he wanted to do music all his dad said was "then you must learn an instrument" and somehow, despite being really poor financially, his parents managed to afford to get him a Saxophone and pay for lessons.
"Real lyrics" - it's incredibly rare to find a BTS song where the lyrics are not "real". Overwhelmingly they write directly about their own experiences and feelings, or their own thoughts and concerns for other young people. Why I like them more than anyone.
Learning is a massive part of Korean culture - kids have to learn how to learn very young indeed and are placed under a lot of pressure to demonstrate it.
JHope learned how to rap with help from RM and Suga - they taught him how to find his own style.
BTS will happily mock each other, and will also happily laugh at themselves, but they are overwhelmingly positive about each other.
Korean age is weird - JK was actually 13 when he left his parents for training. His parents showed incredible trust. Not all young trainees were treated well by their peers. BTS actually did raise him - Jin made his packed lunch and did the school run and it seems that right from the start they appreciated his potential and encouraged him. ARMYs also want to protect him - in fact sometimes, some ARMYs forget that he is now a grown man. They play fight All. The. Time. But they also tell us about the times they had real fights too. Warts and all.
    OST is Original Sound Track.
Jimin had only about months training before debut - and had to learn to sing then too. Big Hit could not afford afford voice lessons for him, so he tagged along with Jin and JK and then, back home, they would try to help him copy what they had learned. He remained unconfident about his singing for a long time but got great support from staff and members. He was trained in, among other styles, a style known as contemporary dance. Very demanding of the dancer's core strength. His dance teacher was so impressed with his talent that she taught him without charging.
Most Kpop groups now use social media, but when BTS started, they were the only ones doing so. It was necessary because they were blocked from performance and transmission by the big 3 companies who had influence on the media. It worked out as a blessing, because that's where they found ARMY.
A lot of the hatred they received was manufactured and even co-ordinated by other companies. I find it odd, because it all started when BTS were not actually very good as performers, and were not doing well. I don't understand it, but somehow even then they were seen as a threat. Even now, the media (under big-3 influence and sometimes paid by them) down-play BTS' achievements.
Young forever - I know many people who were there. Since debut, once they started getting international attention, they have been plagued by "I can't understand what they're saying" and "when are you going to do an album in English?". I imagine that, for them, to stand on that Wembley stage which is iconic for them as well as millions more, and to hear a European audience sing to them in Korean must have felt like an embrace. I still weep
I am keeping an eye on Kpop because the artists are all hard-working, talented and skilled, and are more often now being given more artistic freedom by their companies, but have yet to find any which are an even close match to BTS. I see potential here and there, but so far none of the depth I like in BTS' work. For me, it is only BTS. Welcome to ARMY.
