Kinda shows that the babyboomer generation led a sheltered and better life mostly. And we (sadly) didn't. But hey, we are the "fuck up generation that has no work ethic."
Well to the woman who said they could be using their creativity to change the world, they did do something that had a major effect on todays games, thanks to Ed Boon and his team for creating Mortal Kombat, the first game to show extreme violence, the ESRB rating system was created and their game helped propel the existence of other games that contained violence and came after ward, that's something that changed the world of gaming forever. Thank you Midway/Netherrealm Studios.
The Shiny Furfrou They probably were and part of their opinion saying how this is bad because kids might see it is an inherent problem with how adults view video games. For some reason when buying games for their kids they don't seem to check the age rating in the way they check a films age rating, and then when they see what their kid can do in these mature games they blame the game for it as opposed to themselves for buying the game. All games have incredibly clear age recommendations and usually a few tags saying if its violent, horror etc (Well that was how it was when I was buying PS2 games, haven't had a console in a while) so it's ultimately the adults fault for buying it.

Heeear's JOHNNY! I understand that reference perfectly, thank you very much. It's referencing that bit with Bruce the shark in Finding Nemo. God, why wouldn't I know that?
Shaun Dreclin I don't think they do, I've realized that a lot of times they don't give the elders enough context on what they react to. But that's probably what they look for, first impressions with little to no context
I'm 19 and wonder if when I'm 60 if there will be anything that future generations could do that would shock me like we currently shock our elders. Kinda doubt it with what we have.
As long as they aren't holding Mortal Kombat in real life then I'll consider it "gaining a tolerance to thing that would otherwise be disturbing". I do not find this to be a bad thing
m larry Honestly that wouldn't shock me so much. Kinda expect it to get more violent haha what would really shock me is if they eliminated violence from entertainment.
I can never blame the elders for having the opinions that they have. Whole other generation. Course if you let them get their hands on it, and they are actually open about being a little violent, I'm sure they will come around. Look at GTA V for instance, most of them had fun.
Nappa Carl If you watch the episode on the REACT channel where the elders actually play the game, you'll see that most of them found the game gruesome, but strangely entertaining. They had fun playing it :)
***** Kung Lao. And in this game he first throws his saw-hat on the ground then throws his opponent on it, with said opponent's face stopping inches away from the blade, then Lao puts his foot on his enemy's back and pushes their face on the saw, and they are desperately struggling to stop. That kinda gets me too. But not more than Mileena's second one, where she eats the enemy's guts while they try to crawl away, legless
I like the fact that MK has been around for like 23 years and they say "i never saw something like that". MK was always gory, and it will always be. Cheers to that.

MiguellaGorilla i totally agree. i'm 35 and i've played the 1st 3 MK games, but after that i kinda get tired of the fatalities and find them very unnecessary these days. i would prefer they make the "fatalities" be more fancy in a way that it was executed, like doing a flip kick into the air, jumps up, do fancy kicks and punches, projectile attack and all those fancy moves. it would definitely make the execution spectacular, but i guess it wouldnt qualify as a "fatality".
I'm 20 and I've been playing games practically my entire life. I understand that there is a certain creativity to mortal combat and its chaos, but I really think they just tried to be more gross than creative. Its overboard
MiguellaGorilla Same here lol. I remember wandering around in the arcade as a little kid with my brother or older friend and I came across an MK1 machine. AmericanCaesar its a shining reference since the shining made it popular. I see your point but in this case, if credited, it would go to the shining and not Carson.
I like how they touched on that this takes imagination, and that if this imagination is put to the right use it could maybe change the world. Or at least improve upon a pixelated sub-zero ripping out an equally pixelated spine.
samual hee yeah I have to agree. Mortal Kombat was a game I grew up watching my brother play, but where can you go from that level of gore now? I think it's too much, my husband is not allowed to play this while the kids are around to watch.
The sad reality when you realize none of this phased you, and therefore proved very little things phase you anymore because we live in a desensitized world when it comes to violence.
Wolfie It's a refrence from a horror movie...Idk the name but the guy is chasing a women with axe...women locks herself up in kitchen...guy makes a hole in door with his axe...looks through the hole and says:"HEREEEEES JOHNNY!!"
Young Koots Well I'd say it's more of a reference to The Shining, even though it was a reference in the Shining in the first place. Because in the movie, he opened the door and stuck his head through it, just like in the game.
Guys this is mortal Kombat we are talking about the fatalities are what make the game unique so yes they have to be ver gory and creative because it makes the game so unlike other games
I'm an adult, but I'm kinda with the elders on this one. I like how detailed and creative the fatalities are, but I'm kinda squeamish about this much gore.
It's neat that the elders really enjoyed playing this game, without the fatalities. Glad that a couple still like it after seeing them. Those who really liked it and then changed their minds, I have to say to them, you don't have to be discouraged. I'm sure you could still play now for all that fighting-game fun; just choose *not* to do the fatalities~
Everything new is bad and we must shield the new generations from violence because as we all know, once a child sees it in a video game, they immediately think it's okay to do that. When I was 7, I thought it was okay to be a squirrel after I played Ice Age on my original Xbox
***** Generation that play video game are prove to be LESS violent and do LESS crime than the other generation. Let them play instead of teaching them intolerance, who lead to real violence. Also, if a seven years old put his hand on mortal combat, i would call that really, really bad parenting ^^
I am going to have to agree with the elders. All of that is a bit much. I most certainly agree that all of that creativity being put into that gore fest. I am 17 years old, the audience that the creators made this for, and I think it is a whole new level of overkill.
4:04 "Where have I been. I guess I haven't been around cuz I've never seen anything like that. I must really be old." I don't think age is the issue considering that this is a 23 year old series.
0:49 as a matter of fact, ripping someone's rib cage out and stabbing them in the face with it IS, in fact, illegal

Scott Pegueros But she probably didn't realize it, though.
Scott Pegueros yeah isn't cannibalism humans noming on humans?
if its some creature than its different
Kat 123 I meant the fact that Mileena is Tarkatan/Edenian and D'Vorah is an insect hive-mind
yeah what im saying is mileena isn't human thus it isn't cannibilism
Scott Pegueros To be fair, Tarkatans ARE cannibals. So she probably does it off screen to some of Baraka's buddies.

Elders need to chill for once lol
I like how they touched on that this takes imagination, and that if this imagination is put to the right use it could maybe change the world. Or at least improve upon a pixelated sub-zero ripping out an equally pixelated spine.
***** No reason at all.
;)
Alana Laverty
time and time again this has never been proven to be true
***** I know. I was being ironic. The feasibility of being to do some of these fatalities is highly unlikely I'd say.
2:27
"KENSHI WINS"
"You betcha. Kenshi really, _really_ won!"
Liked the comment: It`s like Saw ... :D
Old people are funny! XD
Elder at 3:29 the reason they do this is... BECAUSE ITS THEIR JOB TOO!
i actually agree with the elders. Some of these are overkill :/
samual hee SOME of them?
That's the point of a FATALITY
That's the point of a fatality and that's one of the things that makes Mortal Kombat memorable and stand out from other fighting games.
RIGHT?!
samual hee yeah I have to agree. Mortal Kombat was a game I grew up watching my brother play, but where can you go from that level of gore now?
I think it's too much, my husband is not allowed to play this while the kids are around to watch.
3:10 me when my parents kiss
Awesome game to play, I Remember the amount of quarters ive spent on this game in the Arcade..
The sad reality when you realize none of this phased you, and therefore proved very little things phase you anymore because we live in a desensitized world when it comes to violence.
Until you see it in real life
Like a person though? I think the worse thing would be someone jumping of a building and landing right in front of you😨
Antawn Eagan Nah nothing that bad, but I can't imagine it being too bad.
Lol probably more of just shock
Spaceman Spiffy Yes man you are dangerous, hide before you run crazy.
lol i get the "heres Johnny" Refrance and im not even that old
No France has nothing to do with the reference...
crash hard lol I also got the "Here's Johnny" Reengland.
crash hard Do you think it's from the movie The Shining? Because it isn't, it's originally a line from Johnny Carson.
Yes, this is the video I've been waiting for YEARS for! hahahaha
2:31 I'm eleven and even I know that it came from the horror movie Shining
Guys this is mortal Kombat we are talking about the fatalities are what make the game unique so yes they have to be ver gory and creative because it makes the game so unlike other games
Patrick Kavanaugh LOL if mortal kombat wasnt gory we would of been gave up on the game...
I'm an adult, but I'm kinda with the elders on this one. I like how detailed and creative the fatalities are, but I'm kinda squeamish about this much gore.
The7thDraconian Who cares? It's rated 18+ for a bloody reason.
The7thDraconian They rate it for a reason, but nobody cares anyway :P
K0ragg no pun intended ;)
K0ragg It doesn't need blood in it to be 18+.
madmike987655
Haha, it really wasn't!
All of these are awesome!
Rock's Reactions are the best
It's neat that the elders really enjoyed playing this game, without the fatalities. Glad that a couple still like it after seeing them. Those who really liked it and then changed their minds, I have to say to them, you don't have to be discouraged. I'm sure you could still play now for all that fighting-game fun; just choose *not* to do the fatalities~
I idon't think the most recent does tho would surprise me
I know for sure MK9 2011 had a no blood code.
James I remember taking to you a while back
Awww they didnt react to Cassie's Selfie? :(
Oh and the refrence is from The Shining.
IlyazGaming they wouldnt get the selfie reference : it's a teenagers thing.but they got the Shining reference, cause it's an elder thing.
This deserves a bonus video. Let's see more reactions of more fatalities.
love how most of them smile while watching each death
Everything new is bad and we must shield the new generations from violence because as we all know, once a child sees it in a video game, they immediately think it's okay to do that. When I was 7, I thought it was okay to be a squirrel after I played Ice Age on my original Xbox
***** Generation that play video game are prove to be LESS violent and do LESS crime than the other generation. Let them play instead of teaching them intolerance, who lead to real violence.
Also, if a seven years old put his hand on mortal combat, i would call that really, really bad parenting ^^
If the kid has normal mentality, he won't think so
I thought you were gonna say because you play conker bad fur day :p
Hay don't talk especially with the picture beside your name
***** When you were 7 you played Xbox? I'm getting old enough to be in these videos.
xD Johnny Cage kills his daughter
The Dude nope, he banged sonya and they had cassie
cammander bob They should've brought back the friendships and/or babalities, so match-ups like that don't have to end badly...
Joshua Jones Does nobody remember the Animalities? I remember the times in wich Scorpion became a penguin :( (Sorry for bad english)
AH YEAH! I do remember! But nowadays, I guess they wanna tone down the difficulties...
SuperDaikenki Shoulda seen that one coming...
Hahaha the fatalities are really gruesome but this video is hilarious OMG!
I guess you could say that the Fatalities are "overkill".
HA HA HA HA HA
I am going to have to agree with the elders. All of that is a bit much. I most certainly agree that all of that creativity being put into that gore fest. I am 17 years old, the audience that the creators made this for, and I think it is a whole new level of overkill.
SonicChaos15 Exactly! If they took down the gore factor to it, then it wouldn't be Mortal Kombat.
Master Sybnios They really just kept it as gory but it translated over into 3D and higher resolution. It happens
It's cartoon violence. If you don't like it no one is forcing you to watch or partake.
exia1430 well no, it's an 18 Rated Game, and you're 17. So it is not made for you at all.
exia1430 There is a game called Minecraft... I believe you will enjoy it.
4:04 "Where have I been. I guess I haven't been around cuz I've never seen anything like that. I must really be old." I don't think age is the issue considering that this is a 23 year old series.
2:28 Absolutely love it when the guy finds it funny! XD One of my favorites!
Old lady if you think this is illegal I think your illegal
Emm Billones *you're
Idiot
What kind of logic is that
