It's hard to find many info. in English related to him on-line, mostly in Japanese though. He was my Idol when I was a little kid. Back in early 80's there was only one of his movie introduced to China, but even that one movie made him very popular in China and lots of men and women fell in love with him. The boys copied his dresses, hairstyling, sunglasses etc.... the women watched the movie again and again (7-8 times) in order to see his scenes again - pls note that at that time, there was no internet, no DVD/VCD in China, if people wanted to watch a movie again they had to go to the cinema or wait for the TV to replay it....... But unfortunately, there had been no information about him since then, no more his movies, there was no internet so people didn't know his real name - they only remembered the characters' name. Then our generation had been busy with growing up, and without getting any news about him in years he had been gradually out of our sight. Only until 2011 when he passed away, there was a news on internet in China, people started to know his real name and know he is a very good Japanese actor and even a talented musician. But that was too late. We lost 30 years of becoming his fans! There were some news/articles about him in 2011, some of his old fans wrote memorial articles in their blogs, few of these fans told their children about him, etc... It could be a long story about his fans in China and I just make it short here.

If I could find her, I will send her a book as a gift - 《 風來去》。 I finally found an English website which I can order 《 風來去》 from, it was very hard to find any English website about this book. I know the book is in Japanese but I will order it for myself and also for that girl anyway. There was another girl's internet post which touched me. In 2005, she made a promise to herself that one of her life objective was to see 原田芳雄 in person, because she never saw a man like him in her life, he is so special and attractive to her - she is young and probably knew about him from her parents as well. I had already been listening to Japanese smooth jazz for a while when a RUclips recommended a channel to me ( called new J channel where it's a live stream of Japanese music from the 70's and 80's) so I gave it a listen- I was looking for some background music to enjoy while I work and through that channel I got introduced to a world of fantastic music and amazing artists. I heard Rain band on the channel and took a screenshot to look for the song and artist later (this was more than 6 months ago🤣) and that's how I stumbled into Yoshio Harada and it's been a journey of finding his music (as well as other artists) on digital platforms. I'm really grateful for channels like yours that upload hidden gems like this 💎 🤝🏾
