I loved this generation Riveria since its 1986 debut. Back then it looked different as it was just over 6" shorter in the rear and had a thinner C pillar. In 1989 they added the extra length and thickened the C pillar whicj I feel made the car look much more graceful. Landau roofs, what you have, returned as well. What really blew me away was the Graphic Control Center, later renamed to Electronic Control Center. It was the first touch screen interface sold in a car stateside. It was seriously derided back in its day as it was a couple decades before its time. Being twelve I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I think the seats look and feel better in the 1986 - 1898 cars as in 1990 your seats, dash and controls replaced the originals. The 3800 series V6 was introduced in 1988 which replaced the older 3.8 liter V6; which wasn't as reliable and produced less power.
As for wheels, I prefer the steelies with wire wheel covers on 1989 and newer. I prefer the original aluminum wheels for 1986 thru 1988.
I bought a 1989 back in 1997 and kept it for five years. I miss it and had big plans for it. One of the few cars i ever wanted to customize. Unfortunately a flatbed backed into it and the insurance totaled it. Though I guess it was a blessing in disguise as the only thing that didn't break was the GCC. Even the glove box door broke on the interstate. I heard, and saw, the spring fly into the back. Still got a ton of compliments on it, the GCC especially!

I had a 92 from 99-04, loved that car. I put 17” wheels on it, all Eclipse speakers and head unit with 2 12” Fosgates in the trunk, shaved the hood ornament and a few other little things. The body style I like the most GM has not made since 1972, the two door hardtop. They went to colonnade coupe in 1973. At least the 8th gen Riviera went to frameless doors.

FUN FACT: The SC 1995 is still the Series I 3800. The NA for 1995 was the Series II. If you want a Series II SC, you must get a 1996 or newer.

The first three years of the 7th gen had a more straight trunk area. They gave this generation a much needed facelift in 1989. And in 1991 they upgraded the 3800 to the series I version. Not a fan of the CRT touch screen in the 1986-1989 either.

I've babied it for the first year of ownership but after getting stck behind a slow driver on a mountain road I put th pedal to the metal a few days ago and discovered that there is serious get up and go. I don't drive it around town much because so many people want to talk about it errands take too long.

I see you also have a 1995. For the most part they are better cars. But the Series II 3800 is not quite as reliable as the Series I due to the plastic upper intake plenum and the EGR stove pipe running through the Series II.

Correct, GM did that because dealers would install crap vinyl tops and charge extra for it-customer would think GM made it. These were available to the dealer from GM to add and markup and still have the Buick quality.
