That looks like the roadside location that Alex was at a few weeks ago. Thats got to be a famous spot lol. Looks like a good start to an awesome trip! cant wait for the next one, thanks Theo.
It is; i had him tell me how it was because i knew i would be in the area a week or two after him😂 he said to check it out and i am very glad he did! That is some great material!
@@vonderloo3184 that is awesome to hear! Means a lot!😊 and no i am not; i actually don't have any formal education relating to rocks and fossils. Lots of books and the incredible knowledge asset that is google, Just a whooooole lot of research and reading!😊 it actually just started as a small hobby that snowballed out of control😂
Congrats on the GoPro and I am stoked that you guys had a great trip (as I assume that it's already over now). Excited to see your channel growing so fast!
I am so excited about the gopro! Add an m50 to that in a few weeks and the vids should just keep getting better! I guess my camera drowning was a blessing in disguise😅 And yes the trip was awesome! 5 days of nonstop rockhounding! And still 5 more episodes to come out after this one! Likewise on the growth man; 10k!? That's madness! So excited for you my friend! Looking forward to do some more hounding with you buddy; your company is always welcome!😊
Theo you can't make a video I would consider too long :) I so wanted to come through the screen and hunt rocks too :) Miss Molly is an adorable addition to your crew. I hope she can be reunited with her people very soon :) I did get some great river rocks for painting at my brother's place last weekend . I want to go back and get some more of various sizes for other art projects :) Look forward to your next video :)
Two thumbs way up for that gopro! I'm just across the border up in Alberta and can't wait to come explore Montana a bit if covid ever ends.. Reminds me of my home but prettier rocks!
There is much to be found in northern montana! Between the agates, crystals, and fossils, there's a little bit of everything up there! I have always wanted to go to Alberta; ammolite is one of my favorite things to search for so it is definitely one of my bucket list locations! We have great ammolite in Montana but nothing compares to Alberta ammolite!👍 glad you like the new rig! I will be adding to it in the coming weeks so the vids will hopefully keep getting better!😊
I love watching your videos. I’d love to go to some of the areas you visit on my next Montana trip. There are rocks that you don’t collect that I would LOVE to collect. After watching one of your carving videos I’m inspired and plan to do some etching on a few of the larger stones I found near Missoula this past July. Thanks for sharing your adventures and being a great inspiration !!! Can’t wait to see more! Espresso Especially crystal park. I only just learned of that place in July but didn’t have time to go.
Ha, ha, there is always time for rockhounding. How do you like the go pro compared to other cameras? I have been filming to set up a You tube channel here in Alberta Canada. Can't afford anything right now so I am making do in the meantime. Amazing road trip. Looking forward to more.
I love the gopro from a quality standpoint; it is extremely stable and takes great quality footage. The downside being that it can not do closeups very well, so you have to counteract that by using an additional camera for close shots (in this case, my phone). Definitely worth it though!
Same one! Its a great little camera! Of course i had it set to wide angle instead of linear the first day so it looks kind of like fish eye lense, but i quickly fixed that the next day😂 i am looking at getting a canon m50 as well and i think the two paired together is going to be an awesome combo! Only downside of the 7black is it is a bit awful at closeup shots, but that's kind of to be expected with any gopro
@@TheoKellison yeah the close up sucks I try and use my Nikon p900 for close up shots since the little rocks always have such fine detail but there are some good gopro setting vids on youtube that help a lot and can't wait to see the crystals you got🍻
@@406findings i used to use my macro on my t5 for closeups but now that that's gone i have been using my phone which definitely leaves much to be desired; it gets extremely grainy if i zoom too much, so a new camera is definitely in order. Almost there though! Should have it this month👍 and i am excited to show you all the rest of this trip! We pretty much hounded for 5 days straight!
The gropro gets very high quality footage, but definitely does not do well at closeups. The next videos are better; i have to switch between cameras for wide shots and closeups, so it's a bit of a balancing act
That is heulandite! It is a fairly uncommon (in Montana, at least) zeolite mineral that forms very unique crystal structures and is typically white to pink, though shades of yellow are also common. It doesn't have much lapidary value but it absolutely makes for some unique and interesting specimens! Unfortunately that piece had so much going on in it that my camera had a very hard time focusing in on it😅 that should all change soon!
I know🤦 of course i didnt find out until i got back from the trip and reviewed my footage. It has since been switched to 16:9 so all upcoming videos will be on the correct aspect ratio, but there wasn't anything i could do to correct it without cutting a bunch of footage. Gotta roll with the punches i guess (and check your dang settings BEFORE you record a six part series😂😂😂)
Congrats on the go pro, adjust your wide angle, watching your video is making me motion sick. Its almost as if you're set on a fish eye setting, or something, everything seems distorted.
Yellowstone area is amazing. Every time you go you find something new.
It's so true! We go to the park every year and we still havent gotten to see everything!
Great job. New dog, new cameras, new rocks. What could you better. Thanks for sharing. Be safe and healthy 😷⚒
Exactly! The only thing to make this better is that there are five more episodes of this trip!😀 thanks so much for watching!😊
@@TheoKellison yippi!
Great rocks and beautiful scenery. Looking forward to your next video.
kudos to you Theo for fostering another dog and being an animal lover. Enjoy your videos so much. Keep it up!
So happy you got new gear!! Awesome video, can't wait to follow your adventure 😀👣🏞️
wow!!!! All those places are awesome!!! And the rocks are beautiful!!! I love the j aspers!!! Enjoy!!!!
Beautiful country! Thanks for taking me with you! Those jaspers were amazing!
Of course! I'll be getting some closeup shots of them in the next one!😊

We too are babysitting a dog. A granddog to be exact. Nice vid and really nice finds.
Gorgeous river shots. I could sit by the rushing water all day and listen to it.
I luv going with you rock hunting and hiking with dogs. So entusiastic! 👋

7.46 looks like a... Plume Jaspagate!
The GoPro is really wide angle. Isn’t getting close ups very well
Can you please share where the river and falls are? thanks! Gosh, is it me or are these shots not very close? I couldn't see them well, Theo. 🤔😟❤️

Glad you got a new camera that you like 👍🏼
FYI..you might turn down your back ground music... it overplays your voice when you do commentary
Unfortunately one of the downsides of upgrading the rig: learning the new adjustments on sound balancing. It's been adjusted for the rest though👍
