the wampler is a bit less smooth. I have the same feeling between the Tumnus and the other K-style overdrives, so I imagine it must be an explicit choice of Brian -- works better on the Tumnus than on this one in my personal opinion.

You mean less compression? I can add more by changing the toggle switch. But you are right, The Dude has more compression.
