I'm a DJ and just got a pair of the Maui 28 G2. Great speakers. I plan on getting the Maui 5 GO as a secondary unit for outdoor wedding ceremonies and when cocktail hours are in a different room from the reception.
I use a TC Helicon small microphone processor (TC-Helicon Voice Tone T1) to a DI box and from this to microphone in and got a very good sound with an inexpensive microphone. This item does a good job. Now I bought a second one, was the last opportunity, because it's discontinued.
Dude you can clearly sing, nice job, and ty for not trying to hit the high notes, I'm the same way, anyway so I'm looking at the EV Evolve 50s but they are 3 times the price... We are a 3 piece, playing small to medium (100+ people or so) rooms. Our keyboard player plays bass with his left hand and Melody keys on his right, also just strait bass guitar when needed... Does this have enough of a bass response and how do electric guitars sound thru this?
W. C. Orielly good question I should try my pod through it and see. I would recommend the EV for full band. The bass response is huge, but the top end might be a little shy with one. Two might do it, but it would be close if your expected to cover a larger room.
This is a great demo/review! Real quick question would I need to bring an additional mixer to be able to EQ high/Mid/Low?? Done by a real musician. Thank you very much!
Charles Grace thanks! Yes it’s best to do that. It’s got a very limited mixer onboard. So unless your only acoustic and 1 vocal and pedals with effects, your going to want a mixer.
Hi, I have just bought a Maui 28 g2. What would you suggest for adding effects to my vocals and acoustic guitar ? I have tried the Tc helicon play acoustic but I’m having real problems with very low volume coming out of the Maui. Cheers
im looking to get something similar however i havent found any videos of anybody playing a cajon drum through a column array! i sing and play acoustic guitar and my percussionist plays a cajon. anybody used this set up through one of these?
Tom Spallone that's easy. You run Stereo out of a stand alone mixer and to get the best level put a single to dual XLR split on it. For bigger places you need two of them. For you typical coffee shop size gig, one is great!
If using 2 Maui 5s for stereo, run the left XLR out into the left XLR in of the left Maui 5 and the right XLR into the right XLR input of the right Maui 5.
Final Resonance TV thanks just bought a MAUI 5 but not tried it yet from your demo it sounds awesone its rated at 200w RMS do you think its actually more than this?
Thanks for the demo and review. Lately I've been looking at a variety of line-array systems, e.g., Turbosound, EV, JBL, Bose, etc., but it seems all roads eventually lead back to the Maui systems, specifically the Maui 5 in regards to price/value. This is my 52nd year of professional gigging, and I'm always looking at ways to streamline the set up without sacrificing sound quality. Incidentally I strongly disagree with you, I think you have a very good singing voice!
Nice system! Good singing as well!
really good demo of the Maui 5, Mate! and you sound damn fine too! well done

You've got a great voice for someone claiming that they can't sing well. Don't put yourself down buddy! It was also a great review. Keep it up.
"sing with me RUclips!"🤣 That hit me hard. Thank you so much for this great and helpful review.❤️
Tough song to sing! Good job!!
Such a well done review to be honest. Truly Appreciate it!...and you do sing fantastic too! :P
Agasto Boney thanks!!

Best review, Made my mind up. Keepn it real. Thats what counts.
You won’t be sorry! Freaking rocks!!! Love mine and want a second for larger situations!
Thank you for your great review. I decide between Maui 5 and Bose 1 PRO. Don´t you have any experience with Bose? Greetings from the Czech Republic.
Thanks...good one mate....the voice ain't so bad...in fact I think it's pretty good!

Hi, thanks for the video. Do you have any trouble with feedback on this machine?
Not really unless you sing real soft and crank the gain up crazy

Great voice actually

I tried that too and had that same issue. Not sure why:(
I've been told that digital effects don't play well. Try an analog effect and see what you get.

Hi there great sound from the maui 5 I'm wondering how do you connect the external mixer to it ?
Thanks.
XLR or 1/4 to XLR depending on your mixer.
Thinkin' about it. How would you go stereo out of a mixer and use TWO of these arrays? Or, if no mixer, how to use two?

Hiya
is the arrangement youre playin for Livin available anywhere?
page853 look up living on a Prayer acoustic on RUclips. There are many. I think there is a full version here on this channel as well.
Final Resonance TV thanks

from your demo it sounds awesone

page853 it’s actually very powerful. Putting it behind you it can actually put out an amazing amount of level.
Hi great demo thanks, I have just ordered one of these and was wondering the best way to connect my Tc helicon play acoustic to it ?
Andy Isherwood probably straight out of it into the back ... your mic goes through it too correct?
Yes mic and guitar goes through the play acoustic and will be set to mono
Can I just use a non-powered mixer or it has to be powered??
Its a powered unit. So a non powered mixer

Thanks! Using it weekly and love it! Subscribe...I'm about to add some more live footage today!
Nice.. what is the title you sing?
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
Hey bro do you suggest it for dj set in small bar?
I would say a pair for a DJ... and some EQ if you wanna tune the low end. I'm getting a second one!
true, you're not a singer .... but i've heard a lot worse.
Good job. You must be a Karaoke man, really amateur singing dude!
