I have studied with the best of gurus for about 13 years. The journey is endless and my times these days are spent in the pursuit of rediscovering myself in this art form. The dance evolves with the dancer.. and it is my endeavor to keep this beautiful art meaningful and pure
People think dance is just about splits and cartwheels. No, that is not correct. Dance is like art and you show it through moves and expressions. This is a masterpiece
Somehow it also reminds me some ancient Egyptian dance paintings. It's so beautiful Indians preserved this absolutely beautiful dance.
I love how every movement was executed with grace and perfection. Even the eyes and facial expressions were dead on! And those lines!!! Man! Dancers like me would KILL to have such perfect lines!! Very well done!
So beautifully executed. Her smile and her expressions were spell bounding.
I'm just a white girl from Chicago but nothing fascinates me more than these dances. They're so eerily intricate and beautiful. The facial expressions are captivating.
it doesn't matter that you're a "white" girl from chicago. just watch, listen; let the dance and music permeate your being. they are yours too.
As half Indian from my mom. Your skin tone in this case doesn’t matter. Just enjoy the music. Our music is yours.
So beauty.....I am from Thailand and what I saw here is one of my favorit... really nice dance so emotional.
That voice ... melting melting melting me...
This is currently my favorite RUclips video as of 6/24/12. I like watching it before I go to bed especially after midnight. The vocalist also has a great smoothing sounding voice that goes along quite well with the music. Something about classical Indian music and dance that put me at peace. Great!
БЕСПОДОБНО !!!!! потрясающе прекрасно !!!!! у неё есть свой стиль ! она ----- стремящаяся , догоняющая звук !
я бы назвала её -- летящая стрела !она такая бесхитростная ! прямая !
When I was in 4th grade I was fortunate to have a teacher who taught us about other cultures . I'm so glad she did because I appreciate the beauty of this dance, its meaning and this very talented & beautiful dancer.
I'm from Rawalpindi Pakistan. I often think if God hadn't created India , this world wouldn't have had charm. India is half world.
She looks like a flower. Her dancing, her poise, stunning❤️
Yea u r saying right she is looking like flower
God, she works on every muscles of her body including eyebrows
This is so beautiful and hypnotic! I also love how she looks like she's high, but still killing it
I love the joy and passion apparent in this dancer's every gesture. It's clear that she loves every second of what she's doing!
I can feel India in this dance! I love it!!
i just love it .she also moved her eyes on every step. this called bharatanatyam
Venkappaya Sardesai, she dances with her eyes!
the clarity of your dance and personality is very very beautiful
j'adore leur perfection qui parait simple et pourtant faut avoir un énorme talent et beaucoup d'années de travail comme pour le ballet ou art martial
For the gods in the temples, actually! This has primarily been a temple dance with very strong Hindu roots.
To say Tolstoy a Russian Christian wrote stories and novels depicting the Christian life of then Russia is wrong. Any art which gives pleasure to the human mind is universal, despite its origin. It has no cast and creed.
@@kumarankutty2755 😄
@Asha Lizzy It's definitely of Hindu origin/artform. But I appreciate Kumaran's progressive comment. 😁❤️ In that there should be zero barriers for practice & appreciation. I also appreciate your comments, that "it's learned irrespective of religion." Specifically because I'm American Christian/agnostic, while my husband is Tamil atheist(family is Hindu). I'm pregnant right now & whether it's a boy or girl, they will for sure learn Bharatanatyam. (We're living in Tamilnadu & will settle here.)
Bharatanatyam is an ancient, incredible artform that needs to be always appreciated & carried on. It's become a cultural, important staple of India, in that it originated here & is practiced all over the country.
You should look at Sridevi Nrithyalaya's channel, btw. That's who I dream of being my kid's Guru. 😊 Her, the school, students & performances are absolutely top notch.❤️🙏
fantastic performance savitha... each n every step was so graciously done i was totally lost in it can watch and get lost forever....BE BLESSED BY THE DIVINE POWER....always.
Thank you! "Pushpanjali" is a traditional offering of flowers to invoke the dieties before a Bharathanatyam recital. The verses in this piece are from the Madurashtakam in the praise of Lord Krishna, the flute playing enchanter. "Sweet are your lips, sweeter your radiant face, and quicksilver glances; and sweetest of them all is your smile!"
Thank you for explaining. I feel awed by the dancers and would like to know more of the meanings behind the painted face, hands, feet and the expressions. WOW. Wonderful and moving. Thank you so much for your talent and YOU. Blessed be.
Its amazing
Thank you for explaining! You embody that explanation incredibly well. Your dance, expression, and aura in this performance highly inspires me for my upcoming work. Thank you!
So in Hinduism you believe Gods have physical bodies, with human features like smile?
I always thought God's are just representations of creative forces that made universe...
@@invinciblecucumber we Hindus believe God can be formless or even, with a form. Depends on what form u would like to give, Krishna can be shown as a baby, teen, adult anything, he can take the characteristics of any face, Depends on how the sculptor would want it. More like we say, it is a representation of ur self, like Jesus can be black, white, albino as well for the believer, although he was a middle-eastern.
We also smash or wash away on shores the same statues we make ultimately, signifying human life is impermanent and even if, God transcends to the Earth as a human, for the laws that unite humanity must be followed by everyone.
The best part is actually the fact she kept that beautiful smile on her face throughout the routine (even if it's tiring as hell)
It is not fact it's part of song according to lyrics indian cultural dances deeply follow lyrics and tune and meaningful
what form....what finesse! a joy to behold..thanks for sharing!

I feel so inspired when I see this dance. Even though I'm American and was not brought up in the tradition, I feel this indescribable connection with Bharathanatyam. I wish I had studied it as a child.
Such grace, beauty, and fluidity in movement. Like watching a work of art, a poem in motion. Perfection.
gamanam madhuram! Flawless performance!
I have a very very little sense of
BHARATNATYAM but still its adorable. any performance with that kind of smile is enough.
My admirations and love !!! I wish I could dance like Savitha ji....great professional and devoted to this style of Indian classical dance.
The singer has a wonderful resonant voice and rendered so electrifyingly to match the danseuse! Together it makes par excellence! Wow! Who is the singer?

Namaste Savitha. Thank you for a perfect performance. Truly magnificent.
Proud to be an Indian.... Absolutely breathtaking performance, seeing her I started loving Bharatnatyam, if u agree like this..
this is one of the many reasons I want to go to India!!! thanks for sharing your beautiful video.
Indian girl is so beautiful and have a beautiful hair. Greeting from indonesia :). Sorry for my bad english
Wow. I generally will try to say something with content in comments -- the footwork was astonishing, unlike anything I've ever seen, the facial expressions led me to want a description of what was being depicted -- but I'm left agreeing with lots of others here -- wow! Thanks Google.
+George Boeck, The latter part of the dance is related to a Sanskrit devotional song written by Saint Vallabhacharya in praise of Lord Krishna! Her facial expressions reveal the sweetness of his (Krishna's): lips, face, eyes, gait and every gesture!! Please watch it once again

She's so precise and so full of energy...you wouldn't think that there'd be people left in the world who could dance like that.
I have been searching for a type of indian dance combined with the emotional music India is so famous for. You are wonderful!
Excellent! That's it. I'm embedding this video into my web site now to help share it with the world. Great! Great! Great! And I like the music too.
Beautiful. I love how every movement, even of her fingers, tells the story of the dance.

I visited India Bharat 2 weeks...
Absolutely amazing talent you have. extraordinary indeed, thank you so much for inspiring me and sharing your beauty with the world
That must seriously burn your legs. Woah
Indian dances are very tiring. Like your legs are in hell . I have never done a Indian dance but with a Indian mom that still kinda knows how to dance like this. I can confirm.
I'm born in America but I'm a indian and I study the dance bharathnatiom
I don’t know why but this is the most epic dance style I’ve ever seen
Indian classical dances are beauty and grace for the peace-loving among us. The rest can tire themselves with Munni Badnaam and Sheela ki Jawani...
Now they are like "naach meri rani".
