Great video Omar. When I was a kid collecting comics I always remember SS of Conan on the higher shelves and thinking "whoa that's for the older guys!" I'm for all of them, fingers crossed Marvel releases the entire series.
I have the DM edition on order (for the last 3 or 4 months actually) at my local shop, and I cannot wait! BTW, I believe you are correct about Red Sonja. Marvel cannot create new stories about Red Sonja, but they can reprint stories that she appeared in.

We know of 3 Conan books and just these two Savage omnis. If they keep selling they will certainly keep printing them. I have a feeling we'll get two of each a year. Until we get Epics.
I think issue #23 should have been the variant cover. Earl Norem's gorgeous painted cover of Conan and Red Sonja fighting a giant octopus is so epic. Too bad it didn't actually happen in the issue.

I will be pre-ordering from TalesofWonder most likely. I was gonna get the Starlin cover but after seeing both here I may get the Bianchi. The Starlin cover formatting looks weird. And the Bianchi really looks great
I think there were only 2 Marvel Super Special Conan issues in colour but there are several Marvel Graphic Novel issues of Conan which should appear in the SSOC omnibus volumes in future including my personal favourite by Paul Gulacy.

None of the Dark Horse collections added colour. All are black and white, slightly smaller pages than this Marvel omnibus, and the paper quality is what you'd expect for the price they were. Not terrible, but not like this. Just so you all know, however, there were 22 volumes in the Dark Horse collection. Do the math with Marvel...just so you know what you're getting into!
When you were looking through issue #15 or thereabouts you said you couldn't imagine what these would be like in color. To get an idea you could take a look at the reprint of Black Colossus that was colored by Marie Severin in Marvel Treasury Edition #15 - www.zipcomic.com/marvel-treasury-edition-issue-15 or the colorized version of Iron Shadows in the Moon in Marvel Treasury #19 - www.zipcomic.com/marvel-treasury-edition-issue-19 By the time of the Super Special Alfredo Alcala was beginning to scale back the rendering a bit....
@@nivekleveb8872 King Conan had 55 issues in total. So I guess like you said 3 Omni would be more than enough to cover it in its entirety. Can Omar please check up on this?
Until Todd introduced computer colours, all standard comic book colours detracted from the art. As a kid, I could go to the news agents and spend the same amount of money on either a single issue with colours that were often offset, but mostly printed over the blacks & destroyed all the detail, or a B&W collection on newsprint that covered 4 slightly older issues with no ads. The difference is night & day. Guys like Gulacy, Perez, Miller, Steranko, Byrne, Buckler, Newton, Adams, Dillin, Andru, Golden, Zeck all looked so much better without the colours. Two works really stand out to me, especially since I have the original issues and the better quality omnibuses now, MOKF #40 and FF #242. Both of those have the artist inking themselves and the level of detail and delicate linework that's lost in colour is significant, even though they are now on ancient, yellowed newsprint.
@@NearMintCondition Was just thinking about getting, since I like #15 (Devil in Iron). But on some pages in my original copy (e.g., p.148 in your copy), the text boxes become so dark that it's really hard to read the text. But in your copy, they're much lighter so there is better contrast.
Just read Roy's intro to this. I think he messed up big time by not letting Neal Adams and Dick Giordano ink #14. He outsourced it to the Phillipines instead of trusting Neal to do the job in time. I think he was too desperate over one lousy potential blown deadline and ended up losing one of the best artists of all time.
You aren't digging the Aaron Conan book? I was really liking it. What I've read so far. I think Busiek's run was badass too. I keep seeing comments like this about a SJW world, have none of you check out Berserk? BECAUSE IT IS SO BADASS!!

When you were looking through issue #15 or thereabouts you said you couldn't imagine what these would be like in color. To get an idea you could take a look at the reprint of Black Colossus that was colored by Marie Severin in Marvel Treasury Edition #15 - www.zipcomic.com/marvel-treasury-edition-issue-15
or the colorized version of Iron Shadows in the Moon in Marvel Treasury #19 - www.zipcomic.com/marvel-treasury-edition-issue-19
By the time of the Super Special Alfredo Alcala was beginning to scale back the rendering a bit....
Both covers? You're being so spoiled now by Marvel. That's amazing. Book looks great.
Freddie Alonso I mean you can have my DM. :). I don’t need both. Other than just for the video.
@@NearMintCondition 🤣 thanks, I'm good. Hope they keep sending you both.
Omar , Will we be able to get a classic Marvel King Conan omnibus?
Kindly check...
niknsync
Oooo, yes please.
I want to know that too! Seems like it would be possible to collect the whole series in 2 or 3 omnis or 4 Epic Collections
@@nivekleveb8872 King Conan had 55 issues in total. So I guess like you said 3 Omni would be more than enough to cover it in its entirety.
Can Omar please check up on this?
I would love that, but nothing has been confirmed past the Savage Sword and Conan series.
Andrew187 I think some colorist stand out to me. Like Paul Mounts, Joe Rosas and Steve Oliff.
will they collect the 90s run
I hope they sell well enough to go all the way thorugh.
Conan saves Marvel
Does the book fall apart because it's so big?
Not at all.
@@NearMintCondition Was just thinking about getting, since I like #15 (Devil in Iron). But on some pages in my original copy (e.g., p.148 in your copy), the text boxes become so dark that it's really hard to read the text. But in your copy, they're much lighter so there is better contrast.
Were these censored?
Savage, nope. Everythign is there.
Wow! This looks pretty amazing. Good old times. Sadly, I can't image new stuff like this in todays SJW infested world.
You aren't digging the Aaron Conan book? I was really liking it. What I've read so far. I think Busiek's run was badass too. I keep seeing comments like this about a SJW world, have none of you check out Berserk? BECAUSE IT IS SO BADASS!!
@@NearMintCondition I don't know much about berserk, but I know it's japanese. They don't have those problems yet over there. Just like in video games, Japan can still do everything they want and get away with it.
Bromar... You son of a bitch!!!!!!!!
I just told my mom what you just said. She ain't happy.
