Christopher Reeve (no “s” in the last name) portrayed Superman in the 1978 -1987 movies. George Reeves was Superman in “The Adventures of Superman” TV show from the 1950’s

I’ve heard this one is a solid starting point I would also strongly recommend Superman rebirth, all star Superman, Superman for all seasons, Superman birthright, and death of Superman

Was this a way to fix the mess bendis made during his run?
This was about 10 years before Bendis, before even New52 nonsense. Technically Doomsday clock is a sequel to this absolute, done 10+ years later. Great read.
