    I think it's important to mention that Judy lives in a Latin American country. It's actually quite hard to find affordable decent makeup products and not only that but it's also hard to get foundation and concealer in very light skin tones and even harder for darker skin tones. Trust me, I live abroad and I know the struggle.

    Personally, as a gay woman, I've been a chef for yearsssss and time and time again I've been passed over for positions because of my sexuality. I look pretty girly, but I never, ever deny who I am and when people are talking about their girlfriends, I talk about my wife lol So, that right there always puts me instantly into a box and invites all the usual stereotypical questions and comments. It's terrible working in a mainly heterosexual male industry! But that's what I'm passionate about! However, with this pandemic, restaurants were closed in the US for a little while in my area and I got a different job and I just cook at home now for my wife and our 2 kids. It is MUCH better, I must admit! And so are the benefits! 😆 lol Much love to you Luxeria! 💜

      The restaurant industry is just a toxic industry in general very few people come out of it having good experiences. I don't think it has so much to do with your sexuality as it has to do with the fact that the back of the house is always pretty misogynistic as much as I hate to label anything it does have a 'bro' culture to it. Owners don't really care about employees customers don't care about employees and people run around for 12-hour shifts to make enough money to support their families while simultaneously being treated abominiously. God forbid you were ill God forbid you have a family member die God forbid you need to take a shift off.... I slipped on a slice of cucumber and broke my hip in three different places after 6 weeks of being out I started getting the question of when are you coming back to work like dude I'm still on crutches... So what I did come back to work I wasn't allowed to even sit down I had to walk down two flights of stairs and go sit in the bathroom if I needed a break and I was front of house manager at this establishment.... The industry is horrible and that is why it's suffering because people actually have options post covid I hope it forces employers both big and small to treat their employees with much more respect and dignity because Lord knows the customer base does not do that. I love it when people spend $100 and then tip $5 because someone forgot to bring an extra refill of lemonade on a busy Saturday night it's ridiculous.

      As someone who's worked in the culinary industry, and has a sister who does so as well, if you're being passed over by the male chef's because you're unapologetically gay, it's because they want women to work for them that they have a chance of sleeping with.
      Male cishet chefs are notorious for wanting to sleep with any woman who works in the restaurant. They're more often than not skeezy as fuck. Which makes it not surprising that you get the gross comments.
      Keep being you though! Don't let those dickhead get you down.

      @@meghanodonoghue9066 That's terrible that restaurant treated you so badly after you broke your hip! I'm sorry that happened to you. Nobody deserves that! And you're right, in thr restaurant industry they literally do NOT care if you have a health problem or need a day off for something with family, kids, doctor appt, etc. They just want you there when they say for how long they say. There was only ONE restaurant I worked at that was a decent place to work for and it's only because the head chef and all the managers were women! And they wouldn't deal with people's petty shit or any kind of discrimination or any BS period. That was the last kitchen I cooked in, other than my own obHealthcare. When the COVID-19 pandemic first started they closed down the restaurant and I got into another field to work in- home healthcare. Which I actually love, so it worked out well for me.

We were watching one together over the long weekend (Labor Day in America) and my grandfather happened to be sitting near us. He’s 97, raised Roman Catholic, and retired military. He leaned over an said, in reference to you, “What a lovely young woman. Such beautiful blue eyes.” My cousin, who is the male version of a Karen (are we calling them Tuckers?) went on a rant about the LGBTQIA+ community. My grandfather starred him down for a long moment, pointing at my tablet screen, and said, “That Young LADY is funny, articulate, clearly educated, and has drive. She is deserving of respect. I may not understand but my understanding should not impact HER treatment.” Stunned silence. And then a cheer from my niece. Anecdotal evidence that there are allies - even unexpected ones. He’s right. You’re lovely. Be safe and happy!

That's just the fundamental basis of tolerance that far too many don't grasp on to: you don't have to "understand", Karen. Not anyone's sexuality, gender identity, mental health state, religion, lifestyle - you just have to realize that whether you do or not doesn't give you the right to take away their human rights or treat them any worse than you'd treat anyone "like you". Technically, it could be that simple.

There's so many people that get up in arms about other people's business that should really just be some personal shit no one else has any right to, and it's honestly disgusting. Like, check yourself and your life before you even think about going in on someone else's. The hatred is just baffling.

    Despite all the excessive brushing and powdering, this makeup artist had an insanely steady hand with the eyeliner and lashes, and the lips looked quite nice, too. Maybe her makeup kit was limited because with prices like that and no other clients in sight, she couldn't get a wide range of products. Apart from the wrong shade of foundation, this was a pretty okay look.
    Talking about makeup, that bluecshade of eyeshadow on your lids is stunning. You hadn't listed the products you've used, so may I ask what it is? With my luck, it's something I need to sell a kidney for, but it is gorgeous! 💗

    A lot of these hole in the wall places that Judy D has gone to claim to be using name brand products. But from what I've seen they are a lot of bootleg items. So she runs an even higher risk because they will throw all kinds of things in the makeup. They don't regulate it like the real cosmetic brands do. I saw a documentary years ago about bootleg makeup and how they can make it look exactly like the real brand. But when they did a study on what's in the products it had so many dangerous things in it. Even rat poop was found in some of them. So when Judy goes to these low rated places I'm sure that a lot of them have bought these fake products to use on clients.

      Another lovely little fact is they found traces of extremely toxic substances such as arsenic in the fake beauty products, it comes from the rats, they injest the poison used to control them and it ends up excreted in their waste which ends up in bootleg product. They've found unsafe levels of LEAD in bootleg products, lead was used in the makeup queen Elizabeth I wore, it causes blemishes and sores to form. Interestingly, I watched a Soph does life video on here where she bought a fake version of her Soph x Revolution Spice palette, the fake actually cost more, it was £13.00 whereas the real deal was £10.00. I wouldn't want fake makeup used on me nor do I own any fakes, you can get really good quality makeup for not much nowadays. You literally have no idea what they put in that stuff, they don't care what happens as soon as they got your coin. I imagine it'd be impossible to get justice if something went wrong from using counterfeit stuff, the manufacturer would probably just change their name, deny responsibility and keep putting out dangerous products

    • @AndromedaChace
      @AndromedaChace 3 года назад +8

At that time I was still learning about me, I used a social male name, and my boss even changed my name in the system officially, together we launched a LGBTQP+ socks line (it was a kiosk that sells socks), we went to some fairs together and after I left there, she kept my line and always tell everyone about our story. There are some brands and stores that embrace the diversity, the mall is a nice place to find a LGBT friendly place to work. But sadly, in almost two years working in there, in different stores, I've never ever seen a trans/nb person getting any promotions or stuff. :/

  • @ryanhburnette
    @ryanhburnette 3 года назад +24

    I was wondering why "trans" was in the title or why it even mattered when her work seemed fine, better than I can do on myself anyway... Then you and judge mentioned that her being trans was why she was receiving all the low reviews. I just do not understand that kind of mentality. She is just a person no different from anyone else. It's ridiculous judgmental idiocy.
    I have never had to experience that type of prejudice, but I have been open and honest in job interviews about my chronic migraine condition because if it gets bad, I may need to wear prescription sunglasses indoors to mute the light. It was hard to get a call back BEFORE I started to mention the migraines, I haven't gotten a call back any time I have. Its funny when jobs aren't supposed to judge based on disability, gender, sexual orientation, etc, and yet...

    While there were questionable techniques and sanitary issues, as you said, with proper training, she would be a fantastic MUA! $20 is *nothing* and for that price, I'd be happy to pay because she does miles better than I do! @@Luxeria I’m not trans, but I’m autistic (and ADHD), and is our community the rate of unemployment and underemployment for people that WANT and CAN work well in particular fields is staggeringly high. I want to say its like over 60%. With my Resume, I can absolutely land interviews in my field. I can do pretty good for the interview, and I have a lot of experience in the roles i’m applying for.. but I just won’t pass. Even for those of us that mask quite well to blend in, we still face overwhelming rejection despite being qualified. Its a common feeling to think that you are raising some hackles or flags in the interviews that says “Im not one of you” and they go with that. But its really just because we are autistic and do not do well with spontaneous questions, especially with people we are not familiar. I can practice until I’m blue in the face and if they throw out a question I haven’t pre-scripted, my brain freezes and it takes me a bit to process the question while analyzing their body language, and trying to determine what an appropriate answer is. The only jobs i have ever gotten without someone in my small circle’s help is ones where they had you shadow and work a half day-it gives me a chance to get familiar with the person, and it allows me to open up, ask questions, and prove what i actually know without having the awful pressure of staring face to face while literally doing nothing else (not to mention eye contact tends to be very uncomfortable or distracting for us autistics.)
      Interviews in general are NOT autistic friendly. And its discrimination that you can’t even prove. I work with animals, my special interest and primary focus is animals.. I could talk abut them and their care all day (my husband can confirm it and various health problems and prevention of illnesses. That alone should be enough to WORK with animal. But no. I have to “prove” I can answer some random question that has nothing to do with the job to see if i will “fit in.” But I WILL fit in because we share a common interest.. I just don’t get the chance to prove it.
      Side note: i’m in the US. I don’t have an official diagnosis but I know what I am. Unfortunately that means I cant get official protection (not that it really helps) because I can’t afford the outrageous cost of the testing.. and there’s no way to guarantee i’ll get someone who will recognize a high-masking afab presentation there’s still a very strong male only sterotype, and many people if you werent diagnosed as a kid.. that you arent it, except when I was a kid, it was like 90% a male diagnosis because there was no studies with high masking or females.)

    One of the things I absolutely love about the bad makeup reaction/review videos you do is that when you see something that could be done better, you break it down and explain why and how to do it better. As someone who is currently trying to get better at makeup, I've learned a lot from these videos and appreciate them immensely!!

    If you are starting TLC's My Strange Addiction I will be ecstatic. The show is made entirely out of gout and glue babe.

    Lux, I think you do have to somewhat take into account the Judy is in Ecuador. Which somewhat explains the price point / products / training. I feel like it will be 100 x better in a few years.

    When I was doing free-lance (North England + Scotland) I used to get asked if I had a brow razor with me, or if I also did brows (which I did but...) and often when I questioned why what they really wanted was shaping; which as you say, you can do with gel/powder and spoolies!

    You're such a lovely person, and I'm so sorry you've felt unsafe. Everyone, nice or not, deserves to be treated with basic respect. You're fantastic and I hope that you've found a place where you're surrounded by support and love xxx

    Gosh, you are my modern day Marilyn Monroe. Every time I see your face on my feed I say to myself or anyone in earshot "isn't she lovely??!"
    It was only Marilyn that got that treatment before I found your vids 😂 👸
