She's absolutely beautiful. One of the most deserving Miss Universe we've had so far and I'm not even a Filipino. She may seemed poised but I feel like that's just the way she is. We've been so used to seeing quirky models who are nothing but plain bimbos who can't answer a question straight that this is a surprise. It could be all that intensive training back in the Philippines, she'd competed for three years straight, you'd expect her to show her talent every step of the way. She's also very passionate about her goal too, and that definitely shows here. She is funny and quirky, but that's what I've gathered from her social media accounts. I don't think its all fake; she's worked really hard and she's probably extremely grateful and working to the fullest.
Congratulations to all the Filipinos out there, they're one of the most beautiful that I've met, both inside and out. The nasty haters need to take a back seat and shut the hell up.

May I add that Filipinos are probably the best singers in the world, the most discovered on youtube (last time I checked, the trend of uploading videos of people showcasing their musical skills on RUclips and thus paving the way for dignitaries, such as Oprah, David Foster, Ellen Degeneres, and Journey, among other Hollywood bigwigs discovering their talent was started by Filipinos). Which nationality almost always plays in the musical Miss Saigon, altho they're not from Vietnam? A lot of people from US, Australia, Europe, etc have made comments on youtube that practically everybody in Philippines can sing! And please, which nationality of nurses fill up the hospitals and clinics in the US, Canada, UK, etc.?

Yes Filipino Maids are an epitome of hardwork and passion for what they are doing. That is why they are in demand abroad. So what if you stereotype our country as land of Maids/Nannies. Its an optimistic compliment. Remember, Your Maids / Nannies are the ones who takes care of you when your Parents are not around , they clean every part of your house just to make sure you and your family lives peacefully and safe from disease causing microorganisms. They are your everyday witness of growth and development. Keep in mind, that your nanny or maid is not related to your family blood. In the philippines we have more than 180 dialects. So everytime you travel anywhere in the philippines, it feels like you’re in the different country.
In my case. I know 4 languages. Including our own dialect in our city which is Chavacano its a broken spanish, then i know English, then Tagalog which is philippines mother tongue and i also know Bisaya.
Growing up in the philippines isn’t easy at all. At a very young age you’ll have tagalog and english languages for your texbooks. Literally from kindergaten till college its always english & tagalog. This is why most filipinos know how to speak english.
So don’t say filipinos are dumb. Learning those languages alone is a big slap to your faces already.
FYI English is actually our 2nd language & we use English in any special occasions. Like Weddings, Birthdays, Parties, Debut, In Pageants, school programs, etc.

Reading all the comments makes me laugh. Some people are brainless and a seriously need a life. Do you think is there was plenty of jobs in the Phillipines mothers, cousin, aunties and sisters would work away from their families. My mother is a great example of hard work, determination and sacrifices; she went to Singapore and work as a nanny for 2 years and then went work in Canada as a nanny for an additional 3 years. I didn't see my mom for 8 years and by the time I finally came to Canada as landed immigrant. I haven't seen my mom since I was 3 years old. In short I am very thankful of my mom's hardwork and everything she had done to provide for us, fyi my mom graduated with Bachelor in Business. But nevertheless swallowed her pride and work as a domestic helper. Without her sacrifices I would not be where I am now today.
My family is well educated and we work as nurses, architect, engineers, bankers and as for me I am a Social Worker and own my own home at the age of 29. All thanks to my mom, who was a nanny, no shame because a job is a job. Special if you are doing it for your family and your children.
