bro its great to see just how far your channel has gotten!!! keep it up you are an inspiration!👍👍 One more thing I would like to add is remember to always ask for a fully detailed description of the item before you buy it....(of course its always better to look at it in person if you can before buying as well)
I have a guy I know that swears his bottom of the line Epiphone acoustic is a "limited edition" because it has a Corona beer sticker on it! He bought it from the Pakistani owner of a liquor store next to the shop we worked at against my advice...some people don't deserve all the money in their wallet.
Great advice! This video made me think about something else. What about protecting yourself as a seller? You should make a video like this about being the seller in the parking lot. I often hear about people on Reverb and eBay (and other common sites) who somehow get duped or taken by buyers because the listing failed to say this or forgot to show that. Even forgetting to say the items can’t be returned can get sellers into a position they didn’t want to be in. I’ve heard Reverb and eBay usually sides with the buyer, not the seller. Sellers can use some good advice too. Are there templates out there for sellers that will make sure less people will get taken when they sell? I am talking about something like a checklist and even a fill in the blank type deal for acoustics, electrics, amps, pedals, and other common parts/gear/accessories. Maybe you can draft some written templates for sellers to buy for a few bucks. Might also make for a helpful video. I don’t sell stuff because I don’t have anything to sell, but I see people talk about being a seller and getting taken, both at the parking lot and elsewhere on the ‘webs. Maybe you can help those people out too being that you’ve been on both sides of the fence.
If i had a nickel for every time I heard someone say "my guitar is mint" or "it's a limited edition" when buying a guitar, I'd have a lot of nickels. 😅
I guess one could say, even straight out of the factory, guitars are never in mint condition. There are always tool marks on the fretboard, scuffs and scratches on the protective film, etc. I didn't know there was a parking lot guitar economy out there, LOL. I guess I don't see it since I live in NYC. But I guess it does make sense. People don't want to bring strangers into their homes and expose all the other gear they might have.
Other lies: "It doesn't need a neck reset". "It's just a finish crack". One I laugh at, about an amp, from my teen age years: "It never fell down a flight of stairs".
Hi im in the market for a nice d18 . Could you possibly find me one i li e in Ireland and few and far between here id rather have a nice 70s 80s one over a new one . If you could help me out id be absolutely stoked 🙏
I use three pieces of data. Vintage price guide, reverb price guide, and recent closed transactions from eBay or reverb. Price guide is usually generally accurate, reverb is usually high, and recent comps are closest. I then average out the three of those numbers.
When you gonna talk about these new 2025 standard series changes? Intrested in your and the communities thoughts. Especially the standard d28 now having scalloped braces!?!
Hi Jeremy. This question is not related to this video, but I hope you will answer it for me. I am beginning my guitar journey at age 70 after the passing of my wife. What do you think is the best way to learn to play the guitar. Thank you. By the way I I enjoy watching your videos and watch as many as I see come to my RUclips channel. Just subscribed.
A friend is ready to sell his acoustic… Martin… newer… but has cracks in the spruce front… should I just get one without the cracks, or look for repair costs
Don't buy gear on parking lots, ever. You need to play it in a room not outside and more so an electric because it needs to go through an amp. There are plenty of real Gibson's out there that are crap let alone the fakes. Never buy guitars online unless it's from a reputable site where it can be returned. Also if you don't really know guitars like buying a used car and you know nothing about cars, take someone with you who knows what they're looking at!
A Guitar can be mint without plastic on pickguard, but agree most stretch the Truth about their truly player grade instrument, but I do own a One of Kind you cant buy anywhere else, but mine is a Prototype of Warrior Guitars 54 Strat, only one made before changed to current configuration, my only regret when battling cancer last year somehow the COA is missing or misplaced as we moved during my battle with cancer I won, I cheated and had Casino Guitars check out Warrior for me, Baxter personally played it with others at Shop like Jonathan and Sean also playing it to insure it was a Good Trade for my Slash Victoria Goldtop and some vintage pick ups. They did this for me at NO Cost while fighting cancer in Florida

These are so good!
There IS definitely a value to upgraded pickups... its just not "dollar for dollar".

Do you really think Vintage guitar magazine price guide is accurate? It seems all over the place depending on the brand and model.

My favorite is “NEVER BEEN PLAYED EVEN ONCE” such a weird flex.
It’s ok not to be mint as long as the price matches it

Well Edgar Winter can play guitar.

Depends on the deal you're getting, most things can be fixed but I'd buy something that has been taken care of properly.
@ thank you Blake
Next will be “15 lies the guy tells you who just bought your gear off eBay or reverb”…I stopped selling things.
Reason why I don’t buy used guitars. Also why I don’t sell.
