Unfortunately this is not the only case that attracts internet sleuths. When Orsoyla Gaal was murdered the internet was convinced it was her 13 year old son, who later turned out to be innocent, and is now most likely even more traumatized than before. This morning I saw a video of someone convinced Madeline McCann's parents had killed her, even though a suspect has already been arrested. When Athena Strand went missing initially everyone blamed her stepmother, whom I'm sure was already experiencing enough guilt as is. I have seen numerous interviews with parents of victims where half the comments are saying the parents (who have just _lost their child)_ "aren't acting right" and therefore must be guilty. People need to wake up and realize they are not Sherlock Holmes, and accusing people without proof is despicable.

If people truly think they have information about a high profile crime and want to help, they should take it to the authorities instead of posting it on their socials for views, attention, money, and clout. Sometimes people do have credible information, like the people who drove by Gabby Petito’s van parked on the side of a back road. If I remember correctly, those people talked to authorities and verified it was Gabby’s van before they posted anything about it. Going off of hunches or just trying to insert yourself into a situation is highly problematic and hurts the investigation way more than helping it. Especially when it comes to something as horrific as this. Not only does this waste valuable time and resources in dealing with damage control, it can also literally ruin someone’s entire life. The internet lives forever. Once a serious accusation is made there’s a stigma that goes along with it. Even if you’re completely innocent there will still be people who are suspicious of you. What that tik toker did is wrong and dangerous and she should be ashamed of herself. This crap needs to stop. The only way that’ll happen is to hold ppl accountable for their irresponsible and self serving actions. After the Depp/Heard and Jones debacles I imagine we’re gonna start seeing a lot more lawsuits like this in the future. You can’t just lie and accuse people of horrible things in front of millions of people, ruin and endanger their lives, and get away with it (and even get paid for it). That’s NOT how freedom of speech works. Sorry for the long rant, I’m just tired of this kinda crap. It’s out of control.

Depp.Heard case was 100% about an alcoholic and his alanon GF. Very typical and boring. AA & ALANON have many pamphlets about that dynamic... it does get rly "crazy" when you're dealing w an alcoholic.
      It's a serious disease.
All we can rly do is back away from the circus? And just stop and quietly take a minute for all the people involved in the disease that ultimately are destroyed by it, in various ways.
      Peace

The courts need to make an example out of Ashley Guillard. There are serious repercussions for slandering a person's name without sound evidence in an attempt to ruin their lives and reputation in society. We have freedom of speech but that slandering others is not part of that freedom of speech. There are consequences to your actions. Jail time to start.
