    Super helpful! Thanks so much, you're the hero we don't deserve lol.
    I honestly would love it if you went into even more detail on these options for crown materials. Sorting through all of the information online and in textbooks to learn what we need to know about the options is pretty difficult. That's why your stuff is so great.

    Hi Mental Dental, Thanks for your videos. I am a Dentist and Ceramist. @1:46 Technically, the opaque porcelain does NOT mask the dark oxide color. Opaque porcelain is a little translucent. Its the opaquer layer that masks the color and later opaque porcelain is applied and fired on to the coping. The layers in PFMs are Metal -> oxidation layer -> wash opaquer -> opaquer -> opaque porcelain (aka opacious porcelain) -> dentin porcelain -> and/or enamel porcelain -> glaze.

      Great to have your insight! I did oversimplify it a bit too much, thank you for the correction!

    Hi Dr. Ryan. What is the most common mistake in veneer preparation? Is it something to do with the angulation of the bevel or just too much reduction of the prep? And if it is because of the reduction of the prep, what location specifically? Thank you in advance.

    What is the position of veener finish line?
    Sub gingival or equigingival

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 года назад

      You're welcome. And it depends! The position of the gingival margin of any veneer is dictated by the extent of the defects or discoloration and the amount of tooth structure that is visible with maximum smiling.

    When you say the metal is contaminated is it due to using recycled metal alloys?

    Great video Dr. Ryan..I have one doubt.. while doing crown delivery, what do we check first? internal fit or proximal contact?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 года назад +1

      Proximal contacts. Because if the crown has an interproximal interference, it won’t matter what the internal fit is!

    Does all ceramic crowns need the champfer finish line only?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  4 года назад +1

      All-ceramic crown preparations are traditionally prepared with either chamfer or shoulder margins.
