    You mentioned about how China is safe, which seems to be my impression as well, since you can walk late at night and there will likely be big crowds. Another factor is I see kids who must still be in primary school walking by themselves at times, which over in Australia, we will consider unsafe. But how safe is your home country of Canada? I always had the impression it was safe.

      The term racism is now often used as a general umbrella term for any kind of discrimination whether it be against a religion, race, foreigner, or ethnic group. I know Nanning having visited the Chinese EXPO held in Nanning at the National Exhibition Center Nanning several years running from 2009-2014. Could I live in Nanning? What would be my rent monthly for a furnished studio/1 bed apartment? How would my retirement visa cost? How would my running costs compare with Bangkok? What are healthcare expenses there like? I tend to disagree when you say that you can get any type of food you want in China and it is inexpensive. Yes Chinese type food will be inexpensive, but try to get any types of western food or products such as cheese or deli, and you will see that it is actually expensive and not easy to come by.

    • @manlaichan7916
      @manlaichan7916 4 года назад

      It’s the same for Chinese food over here in the UK, Chinese food especially Chinese vegetables are very expensive here, Choi sum, Kai lan are over £12 per kg, in Hong Kong it costs about £1.50 per kg. If we go into Chinese supermarket and spend £100 you come out with very little shopping because expensive, you spend £100 in local supermarket you need 2 people to carry bags because your money goes much further. It depends what you like more western food or Chinese food more!

    • @perritsang

      patboy01 Why would you want cheese or deli when there are abundant amazing and delicious food available? When I traveled I only eat what the locals eat.
      Only New York City makes the best deli sandwiches. As for cheese, you have to be in France or Italy.

    • @patboy01
      @patboy01 4 года назад

      @@perritsang what you don't understand is the video is talking about retiring in China, not just going there on vacation. If you retire there you will want to get some western food at some point and the point is if you want western food... it is not inexpensive. I can get any Cheese I want in Canada and they come from France, Italy, Portugal, name it and at decent price. You can get some cheese in China but the price are double what you would pay in a western country and that is normal however it is NOT inexpensive as mentioned in the video. So again, retiring and traveling for vacation are two very different things my friend.

    What do you do about your visa Gwilo60?? What happens after 3 or 4 months , do you leave china then come back?

    • @Gweilo60
      @Gweilo60  4 года назад

      That is the just of it but we will apply for a resident permit before the 4 months is up this time so we don't have to leave the country. If we go somewhere 14 days quarantine then when we come back another 14 days quarantine. Damn if that was to happen every 4 months I would spend 1/4 my time in quarantine.

    • @Gweilo60

      Neil to get a resident permit you have to have ties to China. Our tie is we have Weifang's dad that would be alone if we were not there. This is bad to leave an old person by themselves so they issue us resident permits. Also a wife in China would do it.
