Muito obrigado (Thank you very much) A big hug from Portugal
I have owned a few streamers, and for $150 or $200, the WiiM Pro and or Pro + are on another level, no thanks to the incredibly solid built in EQ and PEQ that is so easily accessible from every track being played. Pair a WiiM Pro to a solid DAC, pick your flavor, and you have yourself an inexpensive Audiophile experience that few can match under $5000. Just add a linear power supply, and save your money for better speakers.
Thx for reviewing the Wiim software Simon. I've been using the Wiim mini now for a few years as a transport only into my Rega DAC/Naim amp. It's a great little piece of kit and a bargain for 90quid! Keep up the great channel Cheers Chris
Over a year with Wiim Pro Plus and I still think this is my best purchase in audio. Its intwrnal DAC is so good that I have no wish to look for external DAC. User interface and integration with Tidal is also top! ❤
Great Review! I actually was looking for an app/feature review of this streamer, so helpfull to know that there is a line input auto detect for both optical and analog sources!
You're so right about reviewers almost never going through software features. I think that every time a reviewer glosses over it - so, good on you for that. I have a rarely used wiim amp that i recently set up near my kitchen. It only has a standby or on mode, but the good thing about it is that i can connect by bluetooth on whatever device I'm on and it fires up and plays right away. I haven't explored the software much at all, so thanks for the cursory look. I mainly use plex, so it would be great if they will support it one day soon. I've had serious issues with PLEX's playlists. Can you easily import and export playlists with wiim? It sounds like it segregates streaming and DLNA playlists. Well this went on too long. Time to get back to work. 😅 - Cheers
Very helpful presentation ❤. I tried looking at the app before buying a Pro. Unhelpfully the app insists on searching for your device before it let's you do anything on the app 😢 Not helpful but it seems common practice ime.
How would one play songs from Bandcamp mobile app, using the WiiM Pro Plus software with EQ? The idea of the WiiM EQ working to improve the sound from integrated amps nowadays is nice, but I have the impression that no matter what product I try, I won't get what I want unless I use my desktop computer into my amp. I currently have the this problem with Bluesound using my mobile phone and it seems no product out there solves the problem simply.
Best video on Wiim so far because as you said, others don’t really talk about the app. I have one question. Can I search for an internet station within the app? Thanks.
I would like to have a larger and separate interface than my personal mobile device. Is a windows laptop viable using a virtual android instance? If not, do chromebooks work? If not, I'll just get an android tablet. Thanks!
So when accessing a dnla server, we get no album art? Just a simple list of albums, or artists, etc? It will look no different than the list I get from JRiver media player for example? I was hoping for more than that :( My squeezebox will give me a simple list, so it would seem I would not benefit much from the Wiim. Do appreciate your time putting this video together, very helpful!
Bubblepnp on Android gives a good experience using dlna; as I use iPhone I wasn’t happy with the dlna apps. LMS with UPNP plugin makes the wiim appear as a player with full artwork and artist info via material interface. I didn’t keep the mini as my network player also appears as a player on LMS.
It would be nice if Wiim Pro supports Apple Music natively, but Apple probably won’t license it to Wiim, if they do, no one would buy Apple’s own HomePod anymore.
There's a lot of RF from any random wall wart plugged is near your head, (including on the other side of the adjoining wall.) Clock radios are the worst offenders. The mini has only Wi-Fi and blutooth but no ethernet. The more expensive units have an Ethernet cable jack. Phone app momentarily uses Wi-Fi to direct commands. Unit then takes over streaming playback through eth. It is possible to connect a phone to Ethernet via a dongle, and then turn off phone BT and Wifi. Bluetooth on unit is only on when connected. Correction, only on at full blast when continual multiple retries because of error correction when distance exceeded. Which is a bad audio situation because will failover to lesser resolution because of weak signal. I don't have my phone right now to look to see if BT can be turned off in the app on the mini.
@@mikemotorbike4283 I tried the Wiim Pro Plus, it only works via WiFi and smartphone/tablet. It won't work with for example a smartphone or tablet connected to wired ethernet via dongle, I tried both but somehow the app NEEDS WiFi to work which is crazy. The windows app (which does work via wired ethernet) lacks many functions (for example no equalizer and settings are very limited) and it has lots of bugs. I didn't find a way to turn the bluetooth and WiFi off not on the smartphone app nor on the windows app, on the Wiim forum I've seen this request a while ago but no response/firmware update to make this happen. Even if it could be turned off I think it's impossible to turn the WiFi or bluetooth back on since it doesn't connect to wired ethernet on smartphone nor tablet so that needs to be fixed as well. I know many people won't care but I just find it pointless to have a wifi like device nonstop emitting RF in my bedroom, the remote emits RF also when not in use. My main use is for the parametric EQ to EQ active speakers via optical output, on planned on using it with a wired ethernet tablet which is just not possible so had to return it unfortunately. If they fix these issues I might buy one again. Besides I don't use a clock radio near my head and neither adapters in wall plugs near my head. Both high frequency and low frequency RF can be harmful, I try to avoid it if I can. I've been spending way too much smartphone time but now try to reduce it when I'm home.
Simon please do a review of the new 60 watt Streaming WiiM AMP if you can get one quicker in your country.. I got on WiiM’s list to get notified when they are back in stock for the American market., Best2You..

I have owned 2 WiiM Pro for some time now, been using them daily almost and I really did learn new stuff while viewing your video: thanks for that!

Nice to see this, I enjoy seeing how interfaces change. After all, those make a difference to usability.

Been wondering about the wiim app, thanks!
I have the Wiim mini and it’s good enough. I like the small puck form factor.
I liked that too Doug. I’ve got mine going into desktop active fiio sp3 speakers
The PEQ could probably be it’s own video. That is something that Bluesound and others don’t offer.

love your preset #10!

If you have a playlist set as favourite, next time you play it back does it start when it stopped,or it begins playing from the 1st song on the list?
Thanks, very useful and well presented, I've subbed.

Спасибо, в русскоязычном ютубе даже близко нет такой информации. Спасибо большое за обзор, вчера купил wiim pro plus, пойду настраивать
If you Listen to a song on the radio. Is it possible to start a search for that song in one of the streaming Accounts like Qobuz or Tidal?
For NAS im currently using Emby. Their app is just nicer to use imo. You can set DNLA to control the WIIM
Wiim font too small to read.
Certain songs show that they are playing but there is no sound?
Super helpful thank you!
Thanks Simon. Is it possible to output via optical and line out at the same time?
Thanks too, I don’t think it is because of the output settings being one or other, and I never tried, but on wiim forum I bet someone will have tried.
Hi' Can you play the Sirius Xm service on the Wiim player?
Hi Simon. Can you please do a video on power supply upgrades for the Wiim server? Thanks
Best video on Wiim so far because as you said, others don’t really talk about the app. I have one question. Can I search for an internet station within the app? Thanks.
Why do I play 24 bit on Qobuz but on the wiim app it still says 16 bit???

Weird. I just saw that RUclips unsubscribed me. I thought you quit like a year ago. Well, it's remedied now. - Cheers
Hi Simon, I have a question: does the app display the playing music’s format, bit depth, and sampling rate?
I’m not sure tbh, I haven’t used it for a while as I’ve had other gear plugged in. I’d recommend wiim forum.
It would be nice if Wiim Pro supports Apple Music natively, but Apple probably won’t license it to Wiim, if they do, no one would buy Apple’s own HomePod anymore.
Is it still possible to listen to BBC radio stations, because I understand they have changed their transmission methods recently. Thanks bud
Yea tunein radio you can access all the bbc stations.
Can the wifi and bluetooth be turned off (for bedroom use). Thank you.

Did you have a flu while recording this video Simon?
Edit: Oh, haha, a minute later you mentioned it..
Yes I did thanks. Still got the remnants of it. Pesky little things…lol.
