Being used as a pillar on NUMEROUS rivers around the world, helping a ton of villages on places where you would’ve never guessed . I honestly really like that it’s built in a way that there is an open space in the middle so fish can escape before being scooped up. It’s also nice that the submerged floaters serve a dual purpose of keeping the nets shape and keeping it from lowering enough to damage reefs.

Everything under roughly 500km will take around 25 years to fall to earth and everything around 800km will take around 100-150 years to fall back down. The upper limits of low earth orbit pushing 1200km will take closer to 2000 years and everything past that will be up there for a longer and longer time. A vast majority of satellites will fall back to earth over the next 100 years without intervention. Problem is that is too slow so we need to bring them down quicker.

I honestly really like that it’s built in a way that there is an open space in the middle so fish can escape before being scooped up. It’s also nice that the submerged floaters serve a dual purpose of keeping the nets shape and keeping it from lowering enough to damage reefs.

@@RustyShackleford9000 according to NASA and the ESA most satellites are in low earth orbit. Everything under roughly 500km will take around 25 years to fall to earth and everything around 800km will take around 100-150 years to fall back down. The upper limits of low earth orbit pushing 1200km will take closer to 2000 years and everything past that will be up there for a longer and longer time. A vast majority of satellites will fall back to earth over the next 100 years without intervention. Problem is that is too slow so we need to bring them down quicker.
