- This is my homemade 40 tons press, I built it six months ago and I'm still learning how this thing behaves, but it's super useful in my shop, hope you enjoy this built!

Thanks for posting this, it is just what I was looking for. How thick of steel can you do a 90 degree bend the full length? And what is the full length.
Hi Ken, I can bend 1/8'' (3mm) of steel plate by 48'' long.

What size ibeams did you use? What size C Channel? Looks like the non travelling "arm" is two square tubings welded together? Have you noticed any irregular bending of the frame or serious deflection? Looks pretty good. Also what two people would thumbs down this video? Lol makes no sense.
Never try to understand the thumbs down man! Its another mistery of life. I used 6x8x3/8wall tubing, there are heavy stuff! Also the channels are 6 x 2. And yes this thing is bending....side ways...(C6 channels left to right) when I push it to the max, which was a 24 lg x 1/4 if I recall correctly. You know the craking sound that make submarines in movies...same thing here...scary stuff dude 😬
@@VinyB57 are you thinking about doing ibeams on top and bottom then some channel steel on the sides? i heard thats a good bet. im in process of designing mine. laughed at your submarine joke. i know 40 ton is no laughing matter though had a weld break before at that pressure.. soiled myself lol
Which mechanism r u used to lift punch after releasing pressure valve?
2 gas spring (250lbs) one on each side!
