As a mom I can tell you the most important thing is to BE COMFORTABLE. That means your bed is a top priority for comfort. Bedding, mattress pad blankets etc should all be super soft, warm and comforting. Next would be your cleaning supplies, personal hygiene supplies, and desk/ school supplies. Put together a shoe box size bin with every type of medicine you could possibly need. Get Lysol wipes and spray. Make sure you are as comfy as possible for showering, changing, getting ready, studying, sleeping, and snacking. Print out photos of family and friends to put up. DECOR IS NOT A TOP PRIORITY! Lots of girls want their space to look cute, but you can save shopping for food, some office supplies, cleaning supplies, and decor until AFTER you arrive. There’s tons you can get locally, or simply order from Amazon and have it sent to your school mailbox waiting for you when you get there. You will be living in a tiny space, so get some really good storage solutions. A lot of items you can wait on and buy them as you need them once you’ve lived in your dorm room or apartment for a couple weeks. And clothing! Don’t bring winter stuff. Save it for once it starts to get cold. You will legit only need 1/3 the amount of clothes you think you will. Have a couple of hoodies and a pair of sweat pants on hand for cold classrooms. Other than that, wait till the weather changes at the end of October.
