I’m a group fitness instructor! It is incredibly rewarding when people report that they like or class/look forward to it/ makes them feel better! It is challenging though to stay motivated, energized, and upbeat everyday, especially when you’re having a blah day. But it’s a wonderful way to stay fit and spread the active lifestyle to others! Love you Gretchen!❤️

I’m a spin instructor at Sobbacycle in Missoula, Montana! I love spin sooo much and love our studio. I was so afraid to audition and go for it but really felt like I should and it’s the best decision I ever made. I teach 3-4x a week and take at least one class a week from another instructor which keeps it fun and reminds me why I started! It is a different feel teaching vs. riding but both are SO fun and it’s only made me love spin more. My goal is to make my classes fun and encouraging, plus I love teaching so it’s the greatest job. You’d be great at it Gretchen. Another thing though is it is a job and people will count on you to be planted in one city for a while so if you want to possibly move soon or work remotely, I wouldn’t do it right now because people will fall in love with your classes and need you!!! But you should still keep it on your radar 😍

I’m a spin instructor and I love spin too and I was scared I was going to not liking it anymore but I found a new love for teaching it! You don’t get bored you just find new ways to be creative and it’s such a good experience and so rewarding!! I really think you should do it, you’d love it and be so good at it.
I’m a group fitness instructor and I LOVE it! It’s so nice to be able to help people and know that you are. I’m planning on getting my personal training certification in the new year :) and I’ve thought so much about being a spin instructor but I don’t want it to ruin spin for me!!

I’m a yoga instructor and I love it! I thought I’d get tired of doing yoga once I started teaching but going to a class and teaching are such different experiences that it’s like comparing apples and oranges. And I found that teaching doesn’t take away the joy of it at all (:

I’m a spin instructor at a local chain gym but only as a sub! So I get notified whenever someone needs a substitute instructor and I can choose if/when I want to teach! It’s great because it lets you choose your balance of taking a class v instructing! Not sure if soul cycle does something like that
We don’t have a soul in my area but I ride 5-6 times a week at cyclebar which I LOVE and while part of me would love to be an instructor, I have so much love and respect for the instructors that I wouldn’t want that experience taken away from me of working out became my job. I’m in the same boat as you. I’d be scared I wouldn’t love it as much!!

I found my passion for spin through soulcycle and ended up getting my certification! I teach across New York (albany mostly) and LOVE riding and being a rider in class as well. Passion definitely has not changed, only made me love doing it that much more!
I currently work at Orangetheory and I am training to be a coach soon, I just love being a part of that community so much, and I want to help others achieve their fitness goals. Irl if that helps but that’s my primary motivation.

When I was in college Zumba was the big thing to do so I got Zumba certified. I liked it but I thought I would love it as much as I love dancing but it didn’t feel the same
As of now I don’t think instructing is for me.. but I wish I had the confidence because I am all about being positive and being a great influencer, inspirer and motivator ❤️ I absolutely love my spin instructor and she has helped me in life in so many ways. I think you would be awesome! 😍

i want to be a yoga instructor and I plan on going to India next year to do the training. I feel like you can do the training and then decide if you want to teach.
I'm SO scared to try soul cycle or core power or any sort of workout class near me. We don't have soul where I live but we have smaller yoga and spin classes, but because I am just an inexperienced teenager, I am WAYYY to scared to do it. How did you get started??

I was planning on auditioning for soul in nyc this past round but unfortunately broke my foot a month ago :( it's something i really really want to do but i'm still a junior at nyu and obviously wouldn't be able to start instructing until i graduate (but most instructors auditioned 3-4 times anyway so i wanted to get started now) but also at the same time my parents would disown me if i became an instructor after they paid for a ridiculously expensive degree from nyu :/ I guess it's not realistic but I can't imagine anything that would make me happier

So I love yoga so so much and go to core power basically everyday and have wanted to be an instructor for so long and I am actually going through the teacher training right now. I was worried like you, would it make me not love it as much? I love yoga because it is like mine, its what I do for me and only me and its just like my passion honsetly- like how you love soul cycle- and I was worried that being an insturctor, where its not all about like you but about your students that it would take that meaning away from me. But omg no those things are nothing to worry about. Like I said I'm going through the process right now and I'm half way through and it has made me even more passionate about yoga than I was before. Also you learn so so much about it that it brings so much more meaning to my practice, as I'm sure it would to your spin classes, that when you take classes you get so much more out of a class. You just have to go in with that passion and love and mindset of "I love doing this, it has impacted my life in such a positive way, I want to bring that to others too" and let me just tell you teaching is like the most rewarding thing ever. I am not done yet but have taught community classes for practice and it just made me feel so grateful that I am able to share my passion of yoga with others. I could go on and on and could literally talk on the phone with you for hours about how you should just go for it because it is so rewarding and awesome.
Also you could even just do the training, complete it, and you don't need to teach right away after your done or at all if you decide not to. if anything just do it because it brings a new perspective and so much knowledge of something that you do all the time and know a ton about and then you just learn so so much more.
