The mosquitos only hate the smell/oils of citronella so in order to repel them you have to shake/rub/break the plant to make the smell come out and it only works for as long as the smell stays. So it could potentially work if you shake it when you first go out and maybe again later depending on how long you're out. Or rub a little bit of it on your skin. I thought about getting some too and was really disappointed when I found out it doesn't just do the job on its own :/ Good luck with the rest of your plants though! I'm interested to see how those raised beds hold up for you. Maybe I'll have to get some next year!
