Située sur la côte nord-est de madagascar, cette ville vie au rythme de la production de vanille et des changements de saisons. En effet, beaucoup la considère comme la capitale mondial de la vanille. Mais en période de pluie, cette région se retrouve totalement enclavée, plus qu'elle ne l'est déjà en saison sèche. Faute de route praticable, la seule voie sûre reste le transport aérien. En ATR depuis Antananarivo ... ou en twin otter depuis Tamatave et Diégo (sensation garantie).
