The strings from "Maid Of Orleans" and Jarre Choirs, sounds ok, but please don’t play actual tunes with this sounds.

I preffer the Mellotron Ipad app, quite more realistic and closer to the original mellotron sound

I’m not convinced. Some of my keyboards have better Mellotron samples, let alone various VST emulations.

The Tape sampler demo on motu.com are really not impressive. Arturia's mellotron sounds much better.

Quite debatable. Sound tests on youtube are unreliable.
Yes. The piano sound is awful! With the wow and flutter of tape based samples, you will never get an acceptable piano sound.
