The SLO-30 is my absolute dream amp. My current main setup uses the Synergy SLO module. Cool to see a more affordable version of what I STRONGLY believe is the best amp of all time.
Hi Nathan, I have just bought the synergy slo module myself and I do like it but I must admit if I paid for the £3000 amp or what ever it cost I would be let down from it if that makes sense. I am still wanting to try this thing as for £249.99 it seems a bargain. I also have the Bogner uberschall module and I’m looking at either the Powerball or Deliverance module next as I need a clean channel as well for my SYN-50 head.
@@gazzaduce3424 I've used just about all the modules at this point. My fav clean is the TDLX. I did end up getting the SLO mini. I only have a couple hours in it, but it's VERY impressive. That's a surprisingly good sounding solid state amp. There must be some DSP going on in there. I haven't used a solid state setup since the early 80s when I had a Yamaha PG1 preamp running into a QSC solid state power amp and and a Marshall 4x12. This amp & that Les Paul is the perfect match! I need that exact LP, is that the 1960 Les Paul Tribute in natural? This amp is so cool I can't believe it's not tubes/butter.
The only things I wish the amp had are a 4, 8, 16 ohm switch like the tube versions, and a regular 3-prong power cable instead of the little pedal-like barrel plug.
Is solid state. You don't need an impedance switch. Just connect anything above 8 ohms. Solid state does not care like tube transformers do. You can run the amp without speaker too. I don't know why they put 2 outputs. When you increase the load the amp will run cleaner and with less power maybe the two outputs are EQ differently to compensate tone change. To make the amp a 3 prong AC type you will need to put the power supply inside. A noisy switching PS near a high gain stage could get a bit noisy. Is doable but will increase the price.
I had the SLO 30 Tube amp and the quality is not on par with the original 100. I would much prefer to see a Soldano 5 watt single EL34 tube akin to a Tone King Gremlin.
Since this is all solid state, I’m wondering, does it sound good at lower bedroom volumes? Please let me know if anybody out there has one and can confirm or not. Also, how does it take gain pedals in the front end, so if you’re using less gain, you can still add it with a pedal Thanks
@@sonny6string822 Hi, Sonny! Thanks for your question. Happy Holidays! One of the advantages of solid state amps is that you don’t need a high volume to obtain a saturated gain tone. Hey, Taga! Great question, it will vary from cab to cab so it depends on the power handling. You can run this through a 4x12 but I’d recommend making sure the impedance matches.
