Mastadon and Gojira are my top bands today. I'm so thankful for those dudes.
Dear God...that solo. Those lyrics. The whole song. Amazing.
This is one of those songs that I will probably listen to for the rest of my life.
This song makes me think of the loss of my Dad. Feeling all of the things that I(my whole family) lost when he passed. We're all still suffering over all that we have come to lose. So grateful for all the things he gave us, that we will carry with us clenched so tightly to our hearts until the bitter end. Branches of our family may break, but our hearts and roots will always remain. I still cry over all we have lost, but his death was not the end you see, just the recognition of a memory.
“The end is not the end you see, it’s just the recognition of a memory.”
My only wish is for Mastodon to play this at my funeral
This song is a journey.
The rhythm guitar beneath the solo is so tasty. Bill Kelliher mastery
The second half of this song may be the most beautiful and emotional music I've ever heard. What an amazing tribute to the memory of a passed loved one.
Best band from Atlanta, Georgia period......
Those choruses. Just. The damn chorus section...
"And when you sit and picture me.
Brann wrote his lyrics for this song just after Bill Kelliher's mom died of cancer :(
And the sky opens wide and it swallows us whole.
One of the best Mastodon songs ever.
I came.
This song is a masterpiece.
Lyrics
The piano at the end... Uff powerful, melancholic, unnerving...
Freaking masterpiece one of their best songs!
