  • Does taping your mouth actually make a difference? I tried one of the most popular biohacks that is supposed to help me breath through my nose all night leading to optimal physical and mental health in the day. Will it actually work?

    it would be interesting to see a blinded experiment
    what I mean is something like the following. You make the change, wear your measuring device, rate your day AND THEN look at the device's score after you have given the rating already. That way you are not influenced by seeing the rating before you start the day (placebo of feeling good bc it says good and feeling bad bc it says it was bad )

    • @amandak.4246
      @amandak.4246 8 дней назад

      it might help but this isn't really how to do a blind experiment. in this case, he knows he has the tape on his mouth, and there's no way to hide that. so there's no way to do this blind.

    When I switched over to solely nose breathing, my noise was stuffed. I really struggled, especially at night when it came to sleeping. What helped me was introducing more moisture via a keeping a cup filled with hot water or using a humidifier in the room particularly on chilli winter nights when the air was drier. Anyhow, good luck with your tests

It is quite pricey so if you could cover it on your channel it would help people make their choice of buying it

This will help you practice keeping your mouth closed throughout the day outside of eating or talking. Breathing through your nose isn't just for sleeping :)

    But when I did successfully mouth tape I did feel more refreshed in the morning and less tired , so it definitely works .

    Yeah I could never do this. Your sinuses swell quite often when laying down, that's why you noticed your nose breathing clear up when you stood up and went to the bathroom. This would give me a panic attack trying to sleep with my mouth taped.

    I tape my mouth every night ... its a straight forward thing now, that I've done for 6 months. by the way you dont actually need so much tape - just a thin strip ...

    I need you to do a test like this but don't look at the reports until the end and see how you feel each day

    Yeah, I can't do this. When I lay down, my nose instantly gets blocked up. Most of the time, I wake up every hour or 2 because of it. So this sounds like a nightmare to me

    Every time I try to tape my mouth at night, I rip it off subconsciously while I’m sleeping

    should do this but only look at the recorded results after a week of doing it, so you dont have a potential placebo effect on your day by seeing better results.

    I tried tracking my sleep with a Garmin watch, but the results were so far off from what I felt the next day that I stopped (e.g. it would say I had a great sleep but I felt terribly tired and vice versa). I think sleep trackers are a scam; even if they were 100% accurate, what are you gaining??

    Just instwll a Mini-Split AC in the bedroom. You can direct the cool air over the bed and get good sleep. Here in Thailand they are cheap to buy and have installed.

    Anyone with a messed up nose tried this yet? I got a curved nasal septum and 90% of the time either one side is fully blocked or both are. So blocked that I'm convinded that on bad days, I'd literally die if somebody blocked my mouth. However I dont want surgery or laser operations done (yet). With nose strips and spray I can breath fine for 5-8 hours usually. But I dont really want to rely on spray all the time, as that's messing up the nose even more. Just with the strips I can breath a bit, but not always well. So I'm quite afraid of suffocating in my sleep, trying this, because most nights I wake up in a puddle of drool, as I mouth breathed again half of the night, due to my nose being absolutely blocked

    You should look at the data after you’ve gone through the day to see if it’s all mental ..
