- It is with the greatest satisfaction that I present the absolute behemoth that is the Extended Edition of TiSG1. This video has taken me an uncountable number of hours but I am beyond pleased with the result. When I started this series back in 2015 I was not sure what it was going to be, it was not until I finished TiSGA that I realized I had stumbled upon the format for a series of videos. After I finished TiSGU I knew that I had to go back and redo SG1 in the new style, and utilizing all that I had learned as an editor. I hope that everyone who watches this loves it as much as I do. I have spent the last 4+ years working on it and am beyond excited to release it to the world. No more teasers, no more remakes. All of SG1 in the time it takes to watch one episode, TiSG1EE is DONE! ENJOY!
Notes
I am aware that the cut at 12:45 is quite jarring. I spent hours trying to make it better. But short of a substantial re-edit or a song change it is just not possible to make it any better. All I can say is that you should see the other versions, they are bad.
I am aware that a handful of the episodes are slightly out of order. This was an intentional creative choice to make the video flow better. I have a version that is in the correct order and it just was not working. I do not feel like it detracts from the intention of the video and honestly, if I had not spent hundreds of hours working on this I would not have even noticed.
Lastly, I am also aware that a dozen or so clips are not in HD. This was partially an oversight and partially because for whatever reason my source has a few episodes that were not converted. I am not sure why, possibly they were filmed with a different camera or the upscaling was just never done. I reduced the usage of these clips as much as I could but in a few cases, mainly the Battle of Antarctica, I just could not cut it out without ruining the flow. So SD it is for those bits.

Finally!!!! I've been excited for this for a good while now!!!
It would have been out ~3 months ago had I not gained HD versions. I think it was worth the extra time though, the quality is noticeably better.
Just have to comment to say how beautiful this is. Watched through it all once and then been watching bits of it over and over this past week. There must have been a lot of time and effort that went into this video. Amazing tribute to SG-1!

@@ProclarushTaonas It's all great but I do keep coming back to the season 9 and 10 parts. Part of it I think is the music for those sections combined with some epic space scenes. Also, the last two seasons don't get enough love!
@@robertstevens455 Season 9 might be my favorite part of the edit. I humbly think I nailed the edit for that season and it just flows really well. It is worth mentioning that seasons 8-10 were easier to work with though. They were filmed in HD and the editors mostly stopped putting music in every single dialogue scene. That meant I could use whatever dialogue I wanted, which was nice. There was a lot of bits from earlier seasons that I had wanted to use but could not due to very loud existing background music.
As both a video editor and a Stargate fan, I truly appreciate the efforts that went into making this. Very nice.

Atlantis is borderline a spoiler, not sure about Universe, I'll have to watch it again. : ) Hard to find an entertaining video that portrays the spirit & excitement of an entire Universe that's jam packed full of hours of great TV. When words aren't enough.

Hundreds of hours over 4+ years. 1 total reedit after a hard drive failure, 1 HD reedit pass, and about 8 or 9 different versions with various tweaks ranging from episode order to song selection. It was a labor of love that I am very proud of. =]

The quality of the video is as high as I could make it. That fact that the first few seasons are even in widescreen is amazing. Most of the ways you can stream SG-1 today don't even have the wide screen format (Which is insane to me). As I mentioned in the description. There are a few episodes that, for whatever reason, I could not find in "HD". An official remaster of the show is something that I would pay an arm and a leg for.

@@davidgipe997 Ohhh you mean like the music for when Thor is telling Sam that Earth is the 5th Race? I do still have it, in so far as I could rip it off the DVD again, but for the actually edit I went through and removed as much of it as I could. Unfortunately I am not aware of a source that has the dialogue and music on different tracks. I would pay a large sum of money for files like that.

Awesome! How many times did you watch the show while making this?
Hard to say, I did 2 reedit passes where I was swapping out clips. So at least twice. But I also would watch an episode to decide what to use and some times when I did not feel like editing more I would watch one or two more just for fun. I would then have to go back and pull clips so 3-4 watches per episode.
Now that's what I call Exceptional...

I knew the length would not be for everyone, after I passed 30 minutes I decided just to lean into the length and actually went back and added more clips to earlier portions.

The first and the Atlantis one feel more action packed, while this one shines with being a great overview of the story sg1 went through
i dont know what Ti means, but this was well done, ive thought about editing other shows down in a similar fashion and this is pretty good, but it obviously means nothing to anyone who hasnt watched the show many times over.

Yo this is the best edit by far... where did you manage to pull these high fidelity recordings? Did you upscale them yourself?

The sources for the video range. Some of them I ripped from DVDs/BluRays, some I pulled from a mix of streaming sites, and others I found on various torrents. I am not aware of any single site that has the entire show in high quality. But also it's subjective. Different versions look better for different episodes. In general the 1080p BluRay is my favorite source, it gives a slightly more smoothed look. The only thing that is mandatory for me is the widescreen format. The show was filmed in 16:9 but was aired in 4:3. Sometimes you can actually see characters in the widescreen version that were entirely cut out of the broadcast version.
Another thing that's weird is how the audio is mixed. I only used audio from my DVD set. The mixing on the BluRay set sounds weird to me. I do not know that much about audio so I could not explain what's actually different, it's just weird.
@@ProclarushTaonas I love that you put in so much effort, it definitely came out amazing. I realize that the newer "BluRays" should be the highest fidelity generally, because they were pulled and remastered from the original film reels, right? Also... when looking at the CG from the BC304s there is a lot of detail to these models, which I've never seen because of compression on the DVDs... so they must've already mastered all the CG shots in higher fidelity which couldn't survive compression, right?
@@scoshgg The first appearance of a 304 is in season 2 of Atlantis and Season 9 of SG1. Season 9 and 10 of SG1 as well as all of Atlantis was shot digitally in HD. I guess it's possible they lost some of their detail when they were put on the DVDs. I'm not sure.
@@ProclarushTaonas Oh I actually didn't know that, that explains why Atlantis looked so smooth and "digital" but it fits the context of the Series, I was more surprised to see, that in your footage you could even make out the grain in some shots from the earlier seasons of SG-1 when they were still filming on 35mm I believe. Most of the time, on streaming or DVDs the grain is also smoothed out by the compression. I think it's interesting that there is no one definitive High Quality Collection of the Stargate TV Shows.
@@scoshgg It's funny you mention the gain. Believe it or not I actually added that back in during the edit. Some of the early seasons got aggressively smooth during the upscaling and looked very strange. So I added back in a very subtle grain effect and lowered it each season until it reached 0% on season 8. It was only ever set to 5 or 6% to start so honestly it might not have even been worth doing.
I did a lot of stuff for this project that took forever that most people probably don't notice. Obvious stuff like timing and sound design (Which side note, I still wish I had worked on it more as there is a lot of things I would change). But also, because of the black bars I added for the look, each and every clip is moved, by hand, slightly up or down to best fit the image in the frame. There is something like 1800 individual clips.
Subtle error in all the clips between 1:25 to 4:11, those clips are imported from the original project file that I scraped early on. For some reason that project had a smaller resolution and I never remembered to set the clips to fill the frame, so there are 1 pixel wide gaps on the left and right.
I make these videos for me, the way that I would want to watch them. It's always fun when other people enjoy them too! I'm working on one for Travelers at the moment. Maybe once that's done I will make This is SG1 Extended Edition Reedited, and fix all of the stuff that bugs me about this video. TiSG1EER... coming in 2035.

It is over 10 Years since I watched'' STAR GATE'' which was on somebody else's a C.D. I can not remember such incredible Special Effects. Proclarush Taonas did you Create some of these Special Effects yourself ? The Music was fitting. Excuse the pun but the way You have put this together is Far Out and out of this World !! ?
The version of SG-1 that I used for this video is the remastered widescreen version (It's weirdly hard to find). Some of the clips have also been AI upscaled but that was very hit or miss, so probably only about 20-30% of the clips looked better.
No I did not create any of the effects my self. All the credit there goes to the original amazing artists who made the show. I am unsure if the effects were updated at all for the remaster, I strongly suspect not. I think that simply seeing the footage in HD makes it all look better. The original 4:3 format that the show released in on Showtime is horrible and it saddens me that most if not all of the streaming versions are of such low quality.
Thank you for the kind words. Finding music is always the hardest part of these videos. There are 18 songs in this video, but over the various versions I tested something like 20 additional songs. I spent countless hours moving clips around by fractions of a second to try and get it all to line up as best as I could. It's not perfect, in fact there is quite a lot I would change looking back at it now. Oh well, we are our own harshest critics.

@@jakecockson8426 33:34 The shot of the gate laying on the ground is from "Death Knell". It's a blink and you miss it clip. In one of the older versions of the video that episode had a lot more screen time. But I had a copyright issue with the original song for that section and in the rework I had to change the pacing. It's a shame, it's one of my favorite episodes.

But really, one of my bigger regrets is not doing the finish passes on this project that it deserved. There are many many tings I would change. But after spending what was probably several hundred hours working on it I was just trying to get it out. All of those sound bites would have been perfect, great suggestions.
I have been working on a This Is for Travelers, and have been taking my sweet time to try and get it as perfect as I can. Each project is a learning experience.

Two questions, do we really need that much background music to the scenes and does it HAVE TO BE SOOOOOO LOUD?????
It's not for everyone, but the version without any music is a horrificly jarring experience.
The music does get less loud the further into the video you go. This is for 2 reasons, the early seasons had a lot of existing background music, like actually in every scene. The only way to use audio from those seasons where you can hear the characters talk but not hear the original music is to find a middle ground with the new overlay. It's not perfect, I'll admit. The second reason is that by the time I finished this video I did not have any motivation to go back and reedit the original seasons. I just wanted to post the project so I could start something new. Keep in mind season 1-4 were edited 4 years before 9 and 10.
