    Hey Coaches, what are some other quick game concepts you would use if you were installing the Air Raid at the middle school level?

      Coach McKie speed sweeps and quick screens

      G Quinn those aren’t considered “quick game”

    Thanks so much coach for your detailed videos. I used a lot of your great insight as a first year offensive coordinator. I came up with a few wrinkles in your Y-stick concept that worked really well and made the reads simple for our QB. Same formation (2x2), however our back was in a pistol look. We sent our F receiver in motion (since we run jet sweep, etc. with that same motion on other plays), and he in a sense became the running back in the flats. Everything else was the same play side. However, our L receiver ran a slant, and we now sent our tail back on a swing route the back side. I told the QB, if they are in man and the F defender goes with the motion, then our read is now backside. First read is the L, and if he is open on the quick slant with grass (since the LB went with the F), hit him. If he's covered, then second read is the RB on the swing since he will now be one on one with probably the middle backer and corner will vacate the area. This put a lot of pressure on the defense in open space. If when the F runs motion and the look is zone, then we read the play side as you have diagramed (reading the defender over/near the Y). Thanks again for all of your help! Your ideas really helped formulate an in-depth playbook that was easy to implement.

    It’s so awesome...a few years ago, I’d talk to coaches and reference you...they’d say send me a link. Today, 2019...you’re the premiere goto spot for info, tips and scheme.
    Nice!!!

    I am glad I came across your channel. I am currently in student teaching right now but plan to coach once I become a teacher. I love watching videos like these as I begin to find and build a coaching style and philosophy that fits me. Keep up the great content!

    Coach McKie, I have used much of the information you presented here on you tube channel and combined it with your single formation course into an offense that my 7th graders are having a blast with. We are scoring points at will and only stopping ourselves with mistakes and bad snaps. We have single word plays, I never call a formation as it is dictated by where the ball is and each play has a signal. No wristbands and no overthinking we just play football and have fun. I let the QB's call every play in practice and as we enter our third game I think they might be better at it then me. After years of dabbling with Wing-T stuff and mixing and matching I feel like I finally have an offense that is simple and allows me to attack the entire field at any time. We basically run 13 plays and have added a Jet Series that relates right back to our base offense. Our most successful play is not however in your list of suggested plays, I call it Smash but it is in essence a slat flat combo on the front side with a vert on the backside. We run a single WR to the back side and run slants not hitches but that is your choice, we have a QB that can throw a slant, hitches might be better for others based on personnel. If anyone wants more info feel free to reach out but I give coach McKie all the credit. Thanks for the info you provide Coach!

      Coach Robert you mind sharing some details on the plays you are running, how you call and the formations you run by ball placement?

    • @toddjolly8543
      @toddjolly8543 5 лет назад

      @@ChrisBeattyJr Hey coach, I know you didn't ask me but since you haven't got a response, I'll tell you what I do since I also usually avoid calling formations. If we are in the middle, we run Ace (2x2). If we are on a hash we run Trips (3x1) to the field side. Variants would be if I called a play from Empty (3x2) and that just tells our RB to get in the boundary side slot.

    Great stuff! I teach kids when running the slant, once they plant and turn to catch the ball up field, I teach the quarterbacks to throw just inside the keeps the kids moving and even little kids can get this concept.

      Coach Queen,
      I agree with getting up field the moment they catch the ball. That's why Pat n Go is a must run drill.

    On stick in trips I like to turn it into a RPO and tag it with inside zone or power. To control that linebacker.

      Coach Clarke,
      I love the Stick RPO. It is a great concept.

    • @andrewclarke3044
      @andrewclarke3044 7 лет назад

      Coach McKie I really love the stick RPO with power because when the LB sees that pulling guard he can't help it. And you can peg that stick all day.

    If a 8th grade team stays in a 5-3 defense in cover 3 with 1 high safety (very athletic team) vs. our Air Raid, what plays would you run to take advantage of that formation?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад +1

      +Marc Fordham Coach Fordham,
      I'd run some crossing routes like Mesh or Shallow Cross. You could also motion from a 2x2 to a 3x1 to see how they react.

    • @colonelrobertsjr.7882
      @colonelrobertsjr.7882 3 года назад

      A full slide away from the Stick concept works for me. If you want to run an Inside Zone RPO and key the Middle Backer, that's a good thing to use with six in the box as well
