Thanks for sharing your video with us! It’s a nice hotel in Essaouira, the Moroccan windy city (bad hair city for the ladies). It’s a small, coastal, and calm city compared to that wild crazy city of Marrakesh. Essaouira used to be the capital of Morocco during the end of the 18th century. The three religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) have coexisted in it for centuries. There are still some synagogues in it and Jewish cemeteries.
It used to be a coastal city for the slave trade from West Africa to North America back in the 17th and 18th centuries like Dakar in Senegal…It has an annual musical concert called “Gnawa Music”. Its origin is from the Ghanaian Empire (current Ghana and its neighboring countries) in West Africa back four or five centuries ago. When the African slaves were transferred from West Africa to Essaouira, they brought with them their customs, music, clothes…and that has become part of Essaouira too…Enjoy your trip! Cheers,
