Irvine,North Ayrshire, Scotland. Turkish delight is my all time favourite sweet. Both the Fry's one and the real Turkish one,Pistachio being my favourite.Jelly tots and Fruit Pastilles were much better when they weren't vegan friendly.
Fruit pastilles are nice. You have a game to see who chews it first. Just suck on it until its a thin jelly. Takes a while though, plus someone always cheats
I have had frys turkish delight but prefer buying the boxes which contain small cubes of turkish delight (lemon and rose flavour usually) which is coated in icing sugar . It does come in other flavours (I've seen mint, banana , strawberry ) but like you said you either love it or hate it .
@jennieaddison7847. It's covered in starch powder to stop it sticking together, icing sugar would just melt/dissolve into the TD and stick it together even more.
My mother used to make creme de menthe Turkish delight from a sweet recipe. It was lovely, much nicer than the rose flavour one. Frys Turkish delight is not that good. There are nicer ones.
I love Turkish Delight, lot of family members did not like so my Dad and I got them all.😁 But then I like true Turkish Delight as well. To "Artificial a Taste" that comment coming out of an US citizen is rather amazing considering what is in most of your foods.
Hi from England UK 🏴🇬🇧 yes Turkish delight is an either you love or you don't it's a required taste like marmite I love Turkish delights 😋 and like marmite on toast 👍🏻 so there you go guys 🤗
I suffered from abdominal migraines in my teens and I had to limit E numbers. A Food Tech friend of my Dad’s recommended 7 Up as it didn’t have that many E-numbers.
Sorry guys, I love Fry's Turkish Delight. It's actually made by Cadbury after they merged with Fry's in 1919. (Fry's actually produced the first mass produced chocolate bar in the UK, before that they used cocoa to make drinking chocolate.)
Have you guys tried A ero chocolate ? If not can you buy it at your British Store ? If not let us know and we can send you some...love your programme makes us laugh and brings back memories too of our childhood sweets x
I don’t know anyone in the uk who eats fruit pastilles or jelly tots one by one. We (I 😂) throw them in my mouth by the handful! Jelly tots are the best, had them as a kid, still loving them 40 years later. They’re children’s sweets and are small so they don’t choke on them.
Love em lots like Jelly Tots, because people 'love em lots' They used to be marvelous jelly tots, then they made them vegan friendly, and ruined them, they have improved a little but are hit and miss, Fruit Pastilles suffered the same fate but not as severe and are still the goat/staple british fruit gum alongside wine gums. Jelly tots used to be thinner and firmer, now they are more like a 'dot' or an 'american hard gum' shape, like a gum drop shape, in the past they were more squashed and flat/firmer and chewier, less mushy/soft.
Turkish Delight, as mentioned in The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe! Although, he has the original stuff originating from Turkey! I myself love the stuff!
Oddly enough, you said "thank God for the chocolate coating" but I'm convinced it's the chocolate coating which kills it. I think i could handle the centre by itself or the chocolate, but the combination is horrific.
How do you not know what turkish delight is, that is just a chocolate coated one, normal turkish delight is in a box with powdered sugar, i know they sell it over your side of the pond 🤔
Hey!! Prior to someone telling us to try it, none of us had ever even heard of Turkish Delights 😅😅😅😅 I honestly wasn't even aware we had them here until just now 🤣😂🤣😂
It's because it's a taste you're not familiar with. I love turkish delight, with or without chocolate on it. Boxes of lemon and rose flavoured Turkish Delight without chocolate on it are sold all over the UK at Christmas. It's a thing I associate with Christmas.
You guys: This is Turkish Delight... Me: ...nope, thats no delight! 😂 When I was at primary school (elementary school to you) a kid brought a box of Turkish delight in, from his holiday. We all sat in a circle, they passed the box around, and we all took one.... then a few minutes later, they had to pass a bucket around, as 30 kids took turns spitting it out 😂😂.
So, you have no idea what Turkish delights are? :o I think you are calling it bloody disgusting because you don't like rose and you are very new to Asian/Middle Eastern/Greece cuisines. We are very close to the meddeterenian and that makes these flavours known to us. I am no fan of Turkish Delight bar .. but I love the original sweets. They come in all flavours but Rose is one of the original flavours. Rose, Saffron, and Mestik are some of the most fragrant and delicious flavours out there :)
Fry's Turkish Delight is definitely an acquired taste, but I agree that the chocolate coating makes it weirder. If you get a chance to try real Turkish/Greek Delight (from Turkey or Greece rather than the UK) you might find it more palatable. It's a similar texture but coated with power (Icing Sugar? Cornflour? both?) and typically comes in mixed flavour packs usually containing Rose (like the Fry's version, but usually more balanced and nuanced) and Lemon, but sometimes including additional flavours as well.
Turkish delight is rose flavoured jelly and is very popular here. If you have ever read Lion the witch and the wardrobe, Edmund is given Turkish delight. The Turkish people would be very offended by your absolutely disgusting comments. Now Hershey's is disgusting.
Ohhhh that’s where we’ve heard it from!! Our apologies, we certainly never aim to offend; we just try to give our honest first impressions while also throwing in some comedic elements ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Turkish delight is disgusting, my Grandma loved it but then she didn't have to put her teeth in to eat it lol😂 I'd rather eat coated coated Brussel sprouts. Refreshers love!
You guys are all so so wrong ya know, irt Turkish Delight. Somehow you missed it, your expectations preconceptions and biases closed you to the fact it is one of the most wicked UK choc bars.

Authentic Turkish Delight comes from Turkey(the clue is in the name), it's actually called Lokum.
Remember that nothing from the UK is grape flavoured, if it’s purple it’s blackcurrant
We ALWAYS forget this 😅😅😅😅 Thanks for the reminder!!
Watching from Tamworth, England. You boys crack me up.
Cool deal Neil!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Happy to lend a laugh or two across the pond! 😁😁😁😁
Turkish Delight's insides are rose-flavoured by the way. Yup rose as in the flower with the thorns.
Floral flavored candy is strange 😅😅😅😅 We were def not a fan of Parma Violets either 🤣😂🤣😂
Yeah parma violets are definitely a 90% of people hate them kinda sweet.
