Dearest Barbara, Thank you, thank you, thank you for this very special video in response to my comment! I’m honestly a bit embarrassed that I commented that day because I was feeling very low. So many people offered kind suggestions, and then to have you do a junk journal session about what to do when you’re overwhelmed-well, now I’m overwhelmed by your kindness! And I’m fan-girling and doing happy dances because Barbara did a video for me and everyone else who gets overwhelmed! And what a gorgeous collage you made. I am always inspired by how you navigate things when you’re not happy with a result. Persistence! I need more of that. I’ve discovered that I am much more motivated when I’m making a journal specifically for someone else. This past week I’ve been working on a “Paper Tasting Journal” for a friend who doesn’t really like journaling but does love the texture, look, and smell of paper. It’s almost done, and I’ve had so much fun working on it-no mental blocks at all. I think I get overwhelmed most when I’m trying to make a journal or do a spread without someone in mind or when I’m trying to make a journal for myself. Thank you again!
You worked out your solution!! It was in you, just needed coaxing. And wow, you are adventurous... maybe add some essential oil to your dying technique, or add a layer of that crinkly paper in a chocolate box for sound effect and smell or a sheet of used parchment paper ...just have fun Suzy, your friend will love her gift from you!!! 🤗
I know what you’re saying. Somehow making something for my friends is so satisfying. I get the ooohs and aaaws. When I try to make for just myself, I’m always thinking I should focus my energies on someone else’s needs. The crafting community is always there to root us on, even if we’ve never met. We’re not in this alone. When I first started JJ, I skipped by Barbara as I felt she was so beyond my skill level. Then I realized I would be learning from one of best. Take care.
I'm so glad you made your original comment Suzy! I think a lot of us feel similar things and sometimes it's hard to talk about. Big dark feelings are hard especially as adults. So thank you for allowing that door to be opened. I love the idea of the journal you are making for your friend!
You are most welcome! The topic resonates with so many crafters it seems, so you are not alone! ❤️ I’m so happy to read that you are having such a great time making that “paper taste” journal and your friend will be thrilled! 😃👍🏻🥰
A good practice would be to, when you're watching videos and have ideas popping in your head, keep a notebook with you and jot down the ideas, adding any details so you don't forget them when you go to sit down and create! Another, which I have found myself doing lately because of my creative blocks, would be to sit and make bases for things to add to your journal. Like last night I made bases for "ticket" strips. I've made masterboards out of just whatever I have laying around. I've also made envelopes and tags. All of this is to pile up a stock, and to not worry about decorating until I am ready to do so. And then if an idea pops in my head I can just grab a "base" for whatever I'm thinking of and start doing it. It helps a lot! I hope this helps you to if you're having a creative block! 🥰
I very often feel overwhelmed when walking into my craft room, but I think that is because I have totally gone overboard with buying and collecting supplies. It has come to the point where I hoard every piece of paper/card I can find and now the whole place is packed to the rafters and I can't find anything. I've recently started sorting through everything and throwing stuff away, but I still don't have control of the space. Sometimes I avoid the room at all costs.
That's exactly my problem... I have a large craft room and even a second one, full of materials and tools and I am completely overwhelmed by the agony of choice. In addition, I always have a lot of ideas and many techniques that I have seen and really want to try. This often ends up with me getting nothing done in the little time I have available. And that always frustrates me a lot. In addition, I always spend more time organizing and re-organizing and re-sorting my stuff than I do crafting...
Please don't throw anything away! Pack it up and donate it to a school, or retirement home, or offer it for free. Many people would love to craft but cannot afford the insanely expensive supplies. You'll make someone else so happy!
This community makes my heart warm. I love you all. To SuzieQ: One thing I enjoy doing when I'm feeling like I'm just not good enough or that my mojo is missing is to pull out 3 or 4 papers I like. It could be music paper, scrap book paper, printables... anything. I try to keep in mind colors that won't fight with each other. I just tear them into stripes, squares, and rectangles and collage them together. Then, I grab out one of my bins of scraps and glue paper onto paper. Ta-daahhh! You've created a master board! After cutting it up, if I'm not in love, gesso the bits that aren't pleasing and maybe stamp where the gesso dimmed the background down. In the end, if I'm not thrilled, i put them away as bases for when I'm feeling it more. My goal isn't really to make anything except bases. But I'm creating and playing with my supplies. You'd be surprised at how rarely I'm not happy worth at least the new tag and journaling card bases I've made. I do hope you start playing without putting pressure on yourself. Even if the master board finds its way into the bin, you've only used a couple of scraps, and you started working out those creative muscles. Hugs, my crafty friend.
Thank you, Barbara, for all of your great videos! That being said I find that going on a RUclips & all other online social media "diet" from time to time works wonders for me in my creative journey. Being able to tune out all the expectations & finished projects gives me the clarity & freedom I need to create. I also agree with the strategy mentioned in another comment of making for others. It does spread tremendous joy from ourselves to other people. Even a handmade card can really brighten someone's day!
So beautiful! I just love the steps that you took to get this gorgeous collage. I’ve learned two things about myself-one, stop bringing so much to the table. It’s overwhelming because I want to add one of everything to the project. gather what I need, and try using what I already have. And the second one is a very recent realization, like you, I need to have a clutter-free, clear desk. When I am overwhelmed at looking at my desk, there’s no way I’m going to be able to think clear enough to create. Thank you for all your beautiful inspirations! Hugs ❤️🤗
My crafting space is so small. I used to think if I left things I’d get inspiration by osmosis. All I got was a pile of stuff. That stuff just grows, topples over and left me uninspired. Now I just have fussing cutting next to me, mostly to keep my hands busy while I’m watching RUclips.
I understand how Susie feels. I also go into my craft room and just sit there staring at my desk! I made an art journal. It felt less overwhelming to me. I started by just making backgrounds. A whole junk journal feels like a lot!
Suzyq2463, I could have written your comment!! It's frightening, and comforting, to hear how much you sound like me! I have spent YEARS collecting a shameful amount of craft supplies and have used VERY little! And everything I make, I end up hating! I have taken HUNDREDS of screenshots of things other people have done & swear I'm going to try it, but I never do! And when I go to try again, I even get overwhelmed by all my choices in my pictures, so I try to make something up...and then I hate it!! ARGH!!!😡It's SO FRUSTRATING and DEFEATING! I think where I'm at right now is that I should pick something out of my pictures that looks pretty easy & try to copy it exactly and see how I feel about it. Barbara, this was addressed during last year's Dephemerember and you said you felt there was nothing wrong with copying until we find our own way. Maybe you could make a video about re-creating someone else's small project, like a tag. I'm sure there are those of us that WANT to be creative, but just don't have the gene others have.🤷😢 (I am also fighting poor health, so that doesn't help either.) If anyone new to crafting is looking at this, PLEASE go VERY easy on the supplies at first! Start with a few basics! Junk jouraling was created from the idea of making something out of trash, but has turned into another giant exercise in consumerism & shopping problems! I don't feel comfortable with who I've become. If I enjoyed playing with all of it that would be another story! Barbara! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR BRAVE EXPLORATION OF THESE TOUGH ISSUES!! ❤❤❤
Thank you @margaretcomella3318 It's good to know I'm not alone. I too wonder if I'm just lacking the creative DNA others have. But, really, that's the perfectionist in me. I want to be good at things immediately! Barbara has been doing junk journals for years--I only began this journey a little over a year ago, although I was bookbinding before that. For me, the best motivation is if I'm making a journal for someone else. Then it seems easy, somehow, because I have direction. I also need to learn to persist, even when I'm not happy with how a spread is going.
@@suzyq2463 I heard someone on YT say that collage isn't a talent, but it's a skill that we learn over time, trial and error. That means we don't need to be an artist, but to be dedicated to learning, failing, and honing a new craft. I find that to be a very positive outlook! ❤
Not gonna lie...part way through I thought for heaven's sake stop; you're making it too light, too dark, covering up what you put down, etc. But this is absolutely stunning! It's a metaphor for the conundrum you are addressing. We can feel overwhelmed and keep trying and know that anything can be brought to another level. I absolutely adore that dear bird, your style, and your work. You have such great suggestions! Like so many here, I too feel overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of stuff; at some point, it does become too much. I'm going to commit to buying less, using more, and finishing one project at a time. Thank you!
Thank you, Barbara.💖 The care you take of your viewers, and the honesty surrounding the creative process that you share you us, is heart warming, educational, and inspirational. 🧡💚🤎
Thank you so very much for mentioning my channel. I just love how you encourage use all to persevere in our creative endeavours, and keep working at it until you love it!!
Suzy I know that feeling, what I do is I lòok for tutorials like dragonflies give and I just follow along, I dont have all the products but I improvise and follow step but step. I dont considrr myself creative but I love crafting, so I copy and they never look exact like the tutorials I am following, but that is good. I find my joy in improvising lol.
Does anyone ever create for others? I am always busy making things for my elderly pen pals! They love getting things in the mail! I also to to Facebook and grab a name on a happy mail space and create a cute pocket to fill with goodies. Many comments are about people being overwhelmed with tons of products. Maybe focus on giving things away. I saw a post where a woman had virtually nothing but yet said she was happy to share. After messaging her I found out she had MS, lived in a care facility with no family around an😂d depended on staff to give her magazines and junk mail. I took a priority mail box and filled it with stuff! What joy that brought me!
YES!!! Between depression and overwhelm, I don't get alot done. Thank you for this video!💖 One of the things that helps me is following along with a tutorial. I never end up doing what the tutorial shows 😂, but it gives me a jumping off point.
I so recognize myself in Suzy'z quote the only different is that I refuse to give up because of my disabilities - diagnosis. Pain in my whole body - I especially need my ARMS & hands. We are many with diagnosis as CRPS, Fibromyalgia, EDS, but we just love art. Sending all my love & strength to Suzy ❤🙏🏼& I truly hope that you will find your mojo again by watching Barbara's wonderful video. Thank you for sharing this B❤
I have chronic pain and fatigue! When I feel overwhelmed I make a tag or journal card. Sometimes I do fussy cutting. I make myself do something, even a small something everyday!! I had to go on disability 8yrs ago. I got tired of you can’t do this or that. When I discovered junk journaling, I was so happy to have something creative I could do!!! Keep trying Suzy!!! Something even if not perfect in your eyes is good!!! We are our own worst critics!! Hugs!!!!
I agree, yet I also think there is nothing wrong with trashing a project. I love the stubborn fighter you showed here Barbara, but that is definitely not me...or what I want to experience in my art room. After a couple of tries on the paper bag, I heard "quit" inside of me...or covering the whole bag with paper or fabric...or simply trying a different project and leaving this page for another day. But having said all of that, I have to say it was too artsy for me to begin with. It was still like a journal spread in an art journal and it overwhelmed me. I like the idea of starting with a bird, but I would not feel confident about gesso, paints, etc. I like the idea of starting with the bird & just making a tag. Hugs to ALL! And thank you Barbara for your desire to help! ❤
❤she spoke my mind and situation for me and each time I fail it gets worse but I feel so alive while watching it All happening. I won’t give up thank you for your service
Wow! This is amazing! And I also can relate to Susie when it comes to being overwhelmed by choice. This video is so inspiring, Barbara, and I think the best part is watching your excitement grow as you patiently keep trying different techniques until you hit on the one that sings to you. Finding the “zone” is the great gift of making art. Thank our again for sharing your gift so generously. ❤
Thank you for sharing this video Barbara. I feel this way all the time…I want to be creative but don’t know what to do. Sometimes just playing with or organizing craft supplies helps. Love your page you did!❤
How nice of you to do this for your viewer suzy. I'm suzy also and I turned this on just as you were talking to suzy and I have to say it freaked me out a little. I lost my boyfriend of 14 years recently and have been overwhelmed I get the ideas but no interest on carrying them out. So thank you and I hope this helped you suzy q. Take care😊❤❤
Baby girl, this is absolutely gorgeous!! Incredibleness from "nothing". The palm tree parts that hubby provided is perfection! I do believe that what you were doing with gluing the book pages down then peeling them off is called decollage. I've done layers upon layers and made some awesome backgrounds! Hugs angel, MomK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
Thank you so much. Your tips really touched on exactly why I end up walking out of my craftroom and go pout. Today I did pick something small - Using circle punches to make some flowers - check, then I went and got the scallop circle punches - which then put me in a tail spin to find the “right” centers for the scallop flowers and my desk ended up stacked so high with “supplies”. I truly believe if I follow your 3 hints, I will be more successful. I will be writing them on an index card and posting in on my board by my desk to remind me. Too many choices is what is making me overwhelmed along with all the “clutter” I’m creating. Blessings and I sincerely hope the others who are struggling will embrace. Your hints. Watching you on this project reminded me if I’m not happy with what I’m making, I can only make 1 change at a time, not pull 5 things to try. Good luck all!
Fussy cutting can be a very mindful process. When I am overwhelmed I often spend time fussy cutting images. Great mind-clearing exercise. Good luck Susie ❤
Susie, thank you for being so candid, I have the EXACT same problem...seriously, exactly!! I've almost considered just selling it all. It took me 2 yrs to make one jj😢. But I've decided to hang in there. One other person seen my jj and now she wants one and so does a other person also. I think that's awesome but I'm absolutely paralized..ugh.
Love how this slowly became what you were happy with😊 I gave up a few years ago before i discovered junk journaling.....i was a scrapbook and card maker. I gave away and sold everything! Huge mistake! Then my sister got me into thecworld of RUclips junk journalers and i fell in love. But i still have times when I dont know what to do. But i wo t get rid of my beautiful supplies again! I know that after taking a break my urge to create will return❤ It has to be fun. Thank you Barbara for your sweet inspiration.🧡🤎
Thank you so much Barbara. You are a sweet soul. I can totally emphasize with Suzy. I've been struggling eith depression and anxiety and junk journaling helps. However, recently I've been struggling with feeling guilty about spending money on supplies and spending time crafting, it makes me feel like a bad wife and a bad mom to my 5 year old son. I know its my depression talking but it's nice to know I'm not alone. ❤
I'm sorry you have been struggling with your mental health, it is no easy feat to try to live every day life when you are feeling that way. Try to view your supplies and the time you spend creating as an investment in yourself, you are NOT selfish for dedicating some time, energy and money in yourself; it actually can help you focus better on your other activities and responsabilities if you let yourself flow, it doesn't matter if you dedicated 5 minutes to creating something or an hour. Sending you a big hug, you are not alone. 💜
You are definitely not alone and I think that taking time for your passion makes you a better mom and wife since it brings you joy and you pass that on to others. Sending hugs ❤️
You always inspire Barbara. I have found if I feel overwhelmed doing a challenge helps like Roxy Creations weekly challenge or Shabbydabbydoodah mass makes. I also enjoy just altering a playing card. Just something small. Great video
Thank you for sharing Suzy’s sentiment. I can relate too. I enjoyed watching your process. I might have just given up, but you kept at it until you were happy with it. This page turned out beautifully. 😍
The power of sticking with it, I have to say I was not liking the background, but once you added the bird nest and the little touch of the egg..... perfect !
23:15 the song thrush bird egg looks very similar to the American robin's egg. As a matter of fact that color blue is known as 'robin's egg blue". And the bird in your collage is similar to the American robin, too. 🥚
When I dont know what to create I make clusters or borders, master boards or ❤ page backgrounds. I also doodle. Often my doodling is botanical sketches that I use in making tags. I love your little bird in her nest. I am glad I wasnt the little bird laying that big egg!😂❤
Margrete Miller said in one of her videos that not every page is going to be your favorite and that’s okay. This stuck with me-when a page is going off track I finish it and tell myself it doesn’t have to be a favorite. Often, when I look at it later I like it and don’t remember what my dissatisfaction was. I think it is less overwhelming to have a couple little baskets or trays with papers and supplies on my desk and limit myself to using those instead of giving myself free rein to hunt through all my stuff.
Thank you Barbara for the encouragement. I just got back home to Atlantic Canada from 2.5 months travelling in a campervan around Florida. I was all excited to 1) finish Dephemerember, and 2) take all my "newly acquired" skilled from the above and get started on making a new journal. Unfortunately, I've spent the last 2 days drawing a blank, feeling overwhelmed, and struggling to get motivated. I can totally related to the woman in your video. But like you said, just focus on the baby steps, and reduce my choices - sound advice - thank you!
I so agree with the "start small". I have found full journal pages are almost always completely overwhelming to me so I’ve started making small journals. Very small. And I’m trying to follow your videos of doing lots of small things on the pages as I actually build the journal i.e. sewing something on the page or adding loads of sprays to diff pages. Something else that recently helped me get into my paper supplies again was using them to up-cycle a small box that had little drawers. I made a different tiny collage on each drawer but all in the same color scheme. All these fabulous supplies we have don’t always have to go in a specific thing like a journal but just by playing with them in different projects gets me motivated to go back to playing with journals. As always, I’m eternally grateful for you!! Much love!! 💕
I too get overwhelmed. I often just several items, up to 8 or 10, on my craft table and play. Different arrangements and take out the ones that mess me up. It might end up being dreadful or wonderfully creative, but Iearn a lot. Great page!!! ..... Sandi from BC Canada
Thanks so much Barbara! I think all creative people get stuck sometimes. The fact you have a craft room / space and supplies means you must be drawn to being creative, but maybe are too tired or weary of soul to draw anything out? (This happens to me) The way I get over that is to go and be somewhere that refreshes me, look at something natural! Even a park or garden, a beautiful sky or cloudscape. Then use that as your inspiration. Something to get you started. Another good motivator is to make something for someone else, a notebook, or little folder with something they might use, some happy mail or something like that. Try it! And don’t give up 😆🦋
I love the nest and egg. Perfect touch. I’m glad you show it takes awhile to do a page. Sometimes you don’t like the page. You have to try different things until you like it. Helps me see my process is normal.
Hello Barbara. It’s good to see how others fix something they don’t like. Not everything we do comes out good. I work at it till I like it or it works for the page. Love how your page turned out. Beautiful bird book too.
Hello Barbara, First of all, I'd like to say thank you for sharing this video, which is very helpful. I also love the end result, it is absolutely beautiful! I also had this frustrating feeling of not knowing how to get a page filled. Then I saw a video where the artist started from the focal point and created a background around it. It helped me a lot. And as you said, limiting the choices of supplies or images, really makes it easier. I like to work from a theme (a season or the seaside or a forest walk, the moon,...) or an emotion (love, gratitude, sadness ...). Sometimes even a quote. I say to myself: how would you like to express this, in terms of colours ? And once I'm there, ideas start to pop up. Sometimes, this can take more than 1 day. Then you have a fresh look to what you have created so far and it makes it easy to continue. This is truly a very useful video, so thanks again, Barbara ! And we love you too ❤
No no no Barbara, it is Brayed Furlap. I need to hear you say it!! I think there should be a color made that is called that just so we can hear you say it! About the creative block: it seems that it is caused more by our own thoughts and expectations than by an actual lack of creativity. I hope Suzy will be kind to herself so she can simply enjoy the creative process again. 🍀💖
Yes, I agree - often it's our own thoughts that trip us up. We have expectations of where we 'should' arrive, so we don't even start. That's why 'baby steps' can be helpful. In my case, I have soooo many ideas, I'm sometimes can't decide which one is 'right'. However, I'm learning that starting, and heading off in whatever direction is ok. I go for 'wanders' and see where I end up - often with surprising results. 😉And yes - Barbara's use of Brayed Furlap is totally endearing, and it's one of my favourite colours - along with Morrest Foss.🧡💚🤎
Oh my Suzy it looks like you and I have the exact same problem. So I sit and cut tags, make just a plain pocket and fussy cut items but when I try to sit and create, I do not like it and turn it into scraps
This is such a beautiful collage. Getting past that stuck point is sometimes so difficult and you’ve provided the perfect recipe. Thanks Barbara! 🤗🇨🇦🤗 Liz
I am between two locations now and can only take the basics with me when I go to one of them. I found that with minimal supplies I need to be more creative and it is not so overwhelming! It is more relaxing and fun!
I had a brain aneurysm and don’t have the uae of my left di so my husband said he would help me to finish’s couple of swaps that I had been working on when I went into the hospital I make it. Easton him
Your husband is a great person! My husband is recovering from a very recent stroke and I’m trying to care for him properly. I hope your recovery is very swift! Sending ❤!
This is super inspiring. I usually don‘t make collages like that, but I am now itching to give it a try. Also, I loved how encouraging you are to Susie (and everyone else who sometimes feels overwhelmed by all the possibilities - myself included). It really chimed with me that you said it sometimes is best to limit the choices in order to overcome the creative slump.
Limit choices, thats good. When my room is a mess and too much is around me, I am easily distracted or overwhelmed. I hate the chaos. I dont need perfection or control, I need to feel calm and then creativity flows. I hope your video encouraged Susie!❤
When I can't create I enjoy watching your videos for inspiration, one time you said in a video ''If the only thing you do on your page is stick something down and nothing else, that is okay.'' I think the idea of just 'showing up' to the journal is so important, I also enjoy just looking through my journal pages to see what I have been doing in it and I usually find something I can play within it. If that doesn't work the other thing I do is work outside the journal, making little ephemera pieces or little paper clusters and stitched pieces to build up my stash, this can feel a bit less overwhelming than working directly in the journal. Thank you for a wonderful video and another beautiful page.
You know, it's totally ok if you cannot seem to get into something. Maybe junk journaling isn't for you, and that is what you've learned about yourself. But that doesn't mean you cannot be creative! There's sooooo many ways to make journals, just try something else. Or maybe you like to decorate cards, paint faces, or make tags. You don't have to junk journal at all.
You definitely have to find your own style... It's never going to look like a RUclipsr made it so stop those expectations. I started by focusing just on building a really well crafted simple journal and working up to paper dying, geli printing, hunting for vintage books and images (I don't have a printer or space for one or the budget for one) so the search has become part of the process that I really enjoy. My creations look NOTHING like Barbara's or any other content creator but they are my own and I'm learning to live them!
Lovely page. Until you did the splatters, I thought there should be a pale blue background to imitate the sky. However, once you did the splatters, it became perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Dearest Barbara,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this very special video in response to my comment! I’m honestly a bit embarrassed that I commented that day because I was feeling very low.
Thank you again!
You worked out your solution!! It was in you, just needed coaxing. Aaaaw thank you, Robin! ☺️❤️
Having too much can be overwhelming
Very good advice
Same here.....I am getting ready to donate some of my craft stuff, but trying to find a good place to give it to😊
This community makes my heart warm.
A huge huge concept - never ever stop your art for perfection as perfection only comes with practice or doing!!!!!
I'm sure there are those of us that WANT to be creative, but just don't have the gene others have.🤷😢 (I am also fighting poor health, so that doesn't help either.)
If anyone new to crafting is looking at this, PLEASE go VERY easy on the supplies at first!
Thanks so much! I hope you give this method a try! Sending hugs! ❤️
Beautiful ending. I love it. All is possible. Take a deep breath and begin to soar🦅 into your creativity. 👍
Beautifully done! The secret seems to be to push through until you have something you like!
Sooo pretty… yes, baby steps are a good idea… 😍
Thanks for sharing ! 🩵🌸🦋🌺
Feel for Suzy I think the more you have you feel overwhelmed, limiting your supplies is a good ideaxxx🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!
It's always amazing to see how different our brains work 😂❤ this little page turned out wonderfully. Thanks for showing us your baby steps process!
I would love to see your take on this subject, little JJ sista! ❤️
Thank you, Barbara.💖 The care you take of your viewers, and the honesty surrounding the creative process that you share you us, is heart warming, educational, and inspirational. 🧡💚🤎
Thank you so much! ❤️
what a beautiful collage! I love all the layers. Thank you for the tips for creating. Very helpful!!! 😊
Very inspiring approach. I'm going to try this method because I, too, feel overwhelmed and have trouble starting.
“In my mind, the perfectionist and the grungy girl are battling it out"… this is the story of my art journey! We should write a song about it! 😂
We definitely need this song lol 😂❤
😂😂😂
Yes! Luise’s music friend could do that!
Thank you so very much for mentioning my channel. I just love how you encourage use all to persevere in our creative endeavours, and keep working at it until you love it!!
Any time! Thank you for your video and kind feedback! ❤️
Barbara, this video and your thoughts really inspired me today. You are very good teacher.
You go, girl! 💪🏼❤️😊
I prefer making little gifts. I have so much myself!
What a wonderful idea. I love your sense of giving back; you've really inspired me.
YES!!! Between depression and overwhelm, I don't get alot done. Thank you for this video!💖
One of the things that helps me is following along with a tutorial. I never end up doing what the tutorial shows 😂, but it gives me a jumping off point.
I feel just like her.
Lovely, Barbara and so encouraging.❤
Barbara: well done! I love when the muse steps in and gently pushes the creator along. And you just saw it happening… Carol from California
You are amazing. Thank you for being so supportive and positive to all of us crafters.
Thank you so much! Also sending you a big hug! ❤️
Hugs!!!!
Thank you so much!
@@suzyq2463 we are a family in this community! Reach out if you need someone to talk to!! Hug!!!
@@suzyq2463 You're very welcome❤
In watching you I know what I do is not keep going when I don’t like a layer. So I need to keep adding until it’s right. 😁
i love you and your beautiful channel ,thank you
Beautiful!
Trial and error, and patience.❤
Im so very sorry for your loss, Suzy ❤️🩹. I hope with time journaling will bring you some comfort 😘
So sorry about our loss. I'm like Susie i get so overwhelmed. Sounds like synchronicit there with both Suzies ❤❤
Wow! I’m loving the birds nest! So cool! Hugs, treen 💕💕💕
You created such a beautiful page
I love it. What a lovely way to overcome being stuck on creativity. Thank you 💕🇨🇦
Thank you so much.
I’m happy this was helpful! ❤️
Fussy cutting can be a very mindful process. When I am overwhelmed I often spend time fussy cutting images. Great mind-clearing exercise. Good luck Susie ❤
That collage just makes my heart smile. I love it!!! Good job Barabara!
I love those “oh no”! moments.😁
Maybe make small JJs….baby steps ❤️
@@adhita88 Thank you so much for you kind words!! ❤️
@@Moodymtmoon you're welcome. 😊
You are definitely not alone and I think that taking time for your passion makes you a better mom and wife since it brings you joy and you pass that on to others. Sending hugs ❤️
@@49dragonflies Thank you Barbara! ❤️
Hi Barbara ... this came together perfectly. Love the colours. I'm also a big fan of birds.
The power of sticking with it, I have to say I was not liking the background, but once you added the bird nest and the little touch of the egg..... perfect !
Barbara, you need my leaf background stamp for this! I'm loving to watch this process! Hugs! Peggy
😅❤️
Beautiful❤
Love it!!
Much love!! 💕
Thank you so much! ❤️
Beautiful page, I love the idea to make a birdsnest..
I really was doubting the outcome and it ended up turning out amazing ❤
I too get overwhelmed. I often just several items, up to 8 or 10, on my craft table and play. Different arrangements and take out the ones that mess me up. It might end up being dreadful or wonderfully creative, but Iearn a lot.
Great page!!! ..... Sandi from BC Canada
I’m overwhelmed just watching you trying to get your background right. But as usual alls fine in the end.
Suzy! Where do you live? I wish I could invite you over, and we could do our journals together!!! Hugs!
How sweet of you! ❤️
Oh yes! Having junk journaling buddies would be amazing. I'm in New Mexico where are you?
I love your videos especially the way you make dramatic changes when you don’t like something. The results are fantastic. ❤
I love your collage. Nice to see that you won’t give up when you don’t like it. A great lesson. Thanks a lot 💋
Hello Barbara. It’s good to see how others fix something they don’t like. Not everything we do comes out good. I work at it till I like it or it works for the page. Love how your page turned out. Beautiful bird book too.
Omg I 💕 your scrap basket!
Hello Barbara,
First of all, I'd like to say thank you for sharing this video, which is very helpful.
And we love you too ❤
I enjoyed this video very much. Your page turned out beautifully. Thank you for sharing.
Haha I will ask Tim about your suggestion 😂😂😂
Thankfully by watching your videos, and other artists, I continue to find joy in my journals! I sooo appreciate you Barbara! 💚
Oh my Suzy it looks like you and I have the exact same problem. So I sit and cut tags, make just a plain pocket and fussy cut items but when I try to sit and create, I do not like it and turn it into scraps
I love this page and the process led you along to the final result. 💕🌷
This is such a beautiful collage. Getting past that stuck point is sometimes so difficult and you’ve provided the perfect recipe. Thanks Barbara! 🤗🇨🇦🤗 Liz
You are so lovely it was lovely to hear your lovely voice, especially today having just heard the news about Princess Catherine.
I am between two locations now and can only take the basics with me when I go to one of them. I found that with minimal supplies I need to be more creative and it is not so overwhelming! It is more relaxing and fun!
I know how she feels, I think that's where I am. I watch yours and Luise's videos all the time, but that's as far as I get.
I freaked out watching you cover the original print on the paper bag, but absolutely adore your end art! Very beautiful! 🥰❤🥰

Hi Barbara! Wow how creative this was. I was completely enthralled! So beautifully done! I love it!
Beautiful! I love that you kept going when you didnt like it!!!!!!! And then in the end it is ❤❤❤❤❤
This is super inspiring.
I love this collage.
This turned out great Barbara. Love how it turned out like a bird nest and the egg just added to it. TFS Barbara! You are always so helpful. ❤
I love it! Beautifully done. 💕
Awesome; beautiful.
Lovely results! TFS!❤
Limit choices, thats good. When my room is a mess and too much is around me, I am easily distracted or overwhelmed. I hate the chaos. I dont need perfection or control, I need to feel calm and then creativity flows. I hope your video encouraged Susie!❤
Beautiful!!!!
Loved watching you create. It definitely helped with me loosing my mojo. Off to watch your
Other video
Awesome! 😊❤️
You found the joy!! Such a pretty collage!! Thank you!!
Lovely page. Until you did the splatters, I thought there should be a pale blue background to imitate the sky. However, once you did the splatters, it became perfect. Thanks for sharing.
