Dividend stocks/ETFs have been underperforming growth in 2023. I also had a cut in my income this year so I haven't been able to invest as much this year. Dividend investing is a grind and the slow path to wealth. Really glad you are here, Jav!
Hmmm I doubt he will hit 1m any time soon , and I would never take advice from a guy that his portfolio it has been flat to negative 😆. But hey, he is the expert . I still don't get why Jake would leave so much money on the table by mo utilizing options cover calls. I know M1 doesn't offer options.
This list is actually too niche for my taste (ex: I actually want to hear about reits) but Im giving you a thumbs up anyway because you're one of VERY FEW youtubers who don't force you to watch the whole video by hiding the details. Short intro, description of what you're going to talk about, list of topics @2:16 , & straight into the meat. I love it.
The other day I was hoping, but I couldn't find this video topic for long-term investors. I was wondering if you had made this topic before. Now here it is!
@Dividend Growth Investing great video! My domestic dividend growth etfs are SCHD , QDPL , QDIV , CDC , DHS , VPU, PEY, VTI, LVHD , AUSF REET, My international dividend etfs are VXUS , UIVM ,FYLD , IDVO. I know that this is a lot of different funds but i like the different strategies , payout dates etc
Great video! I hold DGRW in my Roth IRA after watching your overview of it, I'm 25 so I have about 30 years to let it compound. I hadn't heard of the other selections besides from DJIA, very informative!
Interesting video! Not really relevant to me at the moment since I’m still probably 20-30 years from retirement, but I love the content so I watched it all anyway. Good one Jake!
People think that you should be investing in growth in your twenties and switching to dividends when your closer to retirement. If one finds dividend growth where emphasis is companies growing thier dividend, it might be wise to focus on that and not growth until later since growth and pop at any moment or go way down super fast and you would have less new capital to put in it.
by focusing on growth later, you could give your dividends more time to reinvest into them selves and when you start putting your new capital to growth, if they do very well, you can flip it over to more divs or ride the wave and wait for the ultimate crash. Riding a crash with reinvesting divs is a different feeling than riding the wave and putting more money into crashing growth stocks that don't pay a dividend, and could take years to pay itself off.
I'm glad to see someone else talking about Wisdomtree, I find their ETFs to be a great option if someone wants that monthly check to maybe stay motivated to keep investing.
100%!!! Not a lot of people talk about them because they are not Vangaurd or Schwab... They have some really high quality ETFs priced pretty competitively.
as long as you are doing 5% and above you are already beating the property market. if you want to be paying off your rent and beating the inflation , you need an est. 8.5% annual dividend to breakeven. assuming you are living a nominal lifestyle.
Great video, could you do one where explain how much of your portfolio is from debt? If, of course, a part is from debt. Thanks! PS or aswer this comment will be fine as well!
Hi Jake, are these ETFs best held in a taxable account to maximize share size and growth? What's the difference between DGRO and DGRW? Thanks for the exceptional video. It was very informative.
Hey Lloyd! For most people, it would be better to hold dividend ETFs in a Roth IRA or a tax sheltered account. It ultimately comes down to when you plan to use the dividends to pay for your living expenses. If you plan to live off your dividend portfolio before the age of 59.5, then you may want to consider holding them in a taxable account. These ETFs are very tax efficient with over 95% of the dividend considered a "qualified dividend" which is taxed at the lowest rate here in the US.
@@DividendGrowthInvesting Thanks Jake, I'm considering building accumulating in a taxable account being that they're tax efficient and considering I'm way behind in my retirement preparation.
So I'm in my 20s but I'm looking at moving to the Philippines in like a year so I could potential be "retired" by then. I have picked out a couple others already. O, JEPI, SRET, QYLD, MAIN, Thinking of adding SPYI and SPHD possibly even schd as a quartly paying stock. I'm mainly just targeting monthly stocks but based on what I have here is there one you might suggest I add?
I just bought IHDG. for my kid 25 shares each. What do you think about this fund ? Hoping when they are in there 40s and 50s they have growth but also a nice income.
@@DividendGrowthInvesting so does DGRO pays as well a month?. im looking to start investing after paying off my house. i dont if i should invest in CDS or dividends ETFS.
I have not sold any. JEPQ is one of my best performers in 2023. They make up a large % of my portfolio and I kinda consider them as a core part of my portfolio.
You will want to research the fund methodology. Google the fund ticker and look for "fund overview" or "fund methodology" or sometimes "index methodology". Hope that helps!
@@DividendGrowthInvesting in this video though, it shows 156.37% for both of price/total. I've seen that before when doing my own research on funds. Sometimes they've also noticed oddities if I compare it to voo or spy, where shows much different returns. But maybe that has to do with expense ratios.
Should be 100% qualified dividend right now. It will stay qualified until a REIT joins the Dow index which I have no clue if or when that will happen. Even if a REIT were to join the Dow, it would probably be less than 5%.

@@DividendGrowthInvesting great video by the way. I always feel that these goals of living with dividends is possible when I see Jake's videos. Thank you Jake. I assume that SPHD was not included due to higher percentage of income from REITS?
My main concern about DGRW is the fund turnover of 30% which increases the fees for an investor (which are not included in the expose ratio). Personally I try to stay from funds with turnover of 20% or more.
@@DividendGrowthInvesting yea, I think the latest turnover as of now is about 14% on seeking alpha. But in the Schwab website it says something like 33%. All of these ETFs' % div's are below inflation, so unless their prices give a larger % in appreciation...you're losing money.
Great video, could you do one where explain how much of your portfolio is from debt? If, of course, a part is from debt. Thanks!

As far as I look at it. A slightly higher expense ratio is just the cost of having "payroll" run more often. That's acceptable.
I see it the same way! Monthly dividend ETFs are not all created equal though. I think still keeping the ER below 0.50% is important.
i love that etf research center site. great info, thanks
