It was an experiment that failed, but Atomic made the right move

    Atomic is my home track. Since Charlie took over it has only gotten better. A lot of older people go that wouldn’t have bought presale. Think he could’ve ran it but understood why they didn’t

    I love Atomic Speedway. I live in central Ohio, and I’ve been to all the dirt tracks. Atomic is hands down my favorite. The speeds that winged 410 sprint cars run there doesn’t even look real, and they have decent food for a decent price. The beer is cheap too! Just don’t wash your car right before you go, and make sure to bring safety glasses and a bandanna.

    I like that you highlight positive things going on in racing and try and steer the conversation towards making improvements where needed. I don’t need more yelling and extreme anything on RUclips. I just want loud and awesome racing at the tracks!

    The only issue I have with Atomic is their bathrooms. They have been horrible over quite some time. I'd be embarassed to take a guest....especially my girlfriend. If I was the track owner, that would be the first thing I'd address.

      Tracks don't appear to realize, the ladies often determine where the entertainment money is spent. Dirty, semi functioning rest rooms wont cut it, dusty tracks wont cut it, especially if its a young family.

    while Atomic was our home track I was not impressed with the whole 1000 ticket sale Idea. Also charging 15 dollars for 5 to 12 kids while other local track lets kids 10 and under in for free will keep family sales down. I also don't like the fact they have no hand rails for older people like me in the stands. So with that said I probably will spend my money at Waynesfield this year.

    Great idea. I wish more tracks would try this. I know some tracks cancel when they could race, but are worried about losing money. 1000 is too big of a number though.

      You might be right Dusty. I have only been to Atomic one time . That was a Lucas OIl Late Model tour show. So I do not know how Atomic does weekly. But for regular weekly programs where I live in CNY 800-1000 is a good night (non tour). So 500 presale would of made more sense

      @@DIRTRACKR Ricky peterson and I were talking about that online sales aren't really an established way of purchasing trickiest then you add the my guess is 5 to 7% of fans who buy pit passes and the 3rd shifters who would have to take off work like me who didn't even know until I was at Ricky's shop Saturday nigh and I work in dirt racing media in our area. I still think whether they thought 1000 was possible and I do think that's a stretch for our area for a non special event the main goal was publicity. Look everyone is talking about atomic now.

    Hey Sprint car guy…are Mods open or fender cars? Hope you saw the teary eyed interview with Terry Phillips from Thursday. He sold all his Late Model stuff and is retiring from that form of racing. Big deal for his family legacy and a guy who won a bunch of big LM races over the last 40+ years.
    Who ran for more money Sat WoO or USMTS? ? Vs. $12,000.

    • @DIRTRACKR
      @DIRTRACKR  Год назад +1

      Is this a real comment? I talked about Phillips on the Friday show, feel free to watch it. Also, we'll just gloss over the fact that the Thursday and Friday shows were $3k to win and $5k to win. Comparing apples to oranges with USMTS vs. World of Outlaws. Also, I'd love for you to go find a dirt racing media outlet with my audience that talks more about the USMTS outside of their own channels. Don't worry, I'll wait.

      @@DIRTRACKRDude relax . I don’t always catch every show you record and was not aware you covered TP. Thank you. Yes I wish you and everyone else would follow Mods like you do Sprint cars. Car counts matter to me. 120 cars at Humboldt and 29 for the premier Sprint car series. Sorry I don’t get the interest other than historical and regional basis.

    • @DIRTRACKR

      Sprint cars and late models are the two top divisions. The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is the biggest dirt racing series on this planet. Full stop. Go look though my most viewed videos, you won't find a thumbnail with a modified on it. As a race fan, I think the USMTS is awesome. Great payouts, big car counts, some great drivers, but when I talk about them it doesn't move the needle. It's clearly not about how much a race pays and how many cars show up. So when you jump in my comments and try and make it out like I'm the problem, yeah, I'm going to respond. I've tried diving deeper into that series, including having chats with some big players over there. It got me no where. I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do.

      @@DIRTRACKR I’m not a content creator so I’m not worried about clicks/views. I commented bc that is what a comment section is for. I’m not blaming anyone especially you for anything. What I’m trying to figure out is why are Sprint cars the cats meow for dirt racing fandom Vs. something like Mods? I tried to give Spirit cars their due by going to a ASCS race last summer at Lakeside. 20 or so cars showed up with about 5 who could potentially win vs. last Sat night King of America with 120+ A/B Mods with 20 cars in each class who could win. Sure somewhat 🍎 and 🍊 Even a one night Mod show a Lakeside would have 60-70 cars.
