    Talk about memories! I was an 54E NBC NCO back in the 70's before I got my commission. I have logged thousands of miles on the ol M151A2 MUTT's. Thanks for the posting. You have done a great job. It made my day.

    @estradalex Nice 151, I used to drive them all the time in the Army, as well as the M35A2s, I worked in the motor pool. MOS was 64 Charlie - driver, so basically I drove what ever they needed me too, all the to 5 ton, including APC. Am very glade you have one in such fine shape, I have a pic of me standing behind the one I drove on computer, brings back memories, thanks for the video, am a 10 year veteran. Paul.

    Drove on of those in the service, great little vehicles. Went through anything.

  • @WayneHarris
    @WayneHarris 11 лет назад +5

    Wow, that brought back some memories.
    None of our jeeps looked that good. Our configuration was a bit different. Seem to remember both the receive-only antenna being behind the driver, not on the side.
    that withstanding, all of our canvas was much rattier. Ours were scratched up, dented and in some cases, had holes in it from Lebanon.
    Good stuff.

    LOL ok I do not remember my jeep ever being that clean . Yes I was all over that puppy from to back top to bottom . Nice Canvas kit better then the plastic ones for sure . Never had the front winter shield for mine . lots of things adapted from other branches like the snorkel kit . The slave cable adapted up front looks like a APC slave adapter . Bit of over kill . passenger seat forward cover off hook up and away you go . 1 pin and 4 clips . Cant believe you have the NBC gear on there . Can not remember what they called it . Tester that is ? seen some rubber on the hand brakes mine was just metal . Anyways thanks for the walk down memory lane . Nice ride .

    100% original body, radios & and engine. Very few reproduction parts like the set cushions were used in the restoration. Most MUTT's were cut or crushed, some were spared.

    65 MPH, I never had mine out of the neighborhood yet, let alone that fast...LOL but I have the Straight M151 with A1 and A2 parts added to it. Yours looks great, and seems to run and shift just fine.

      Gracias Carlos. Fue una restauración de más de un año. Afortunadamente, todavía había partes nuevas (NOS) en el 2007. Es mi pasión traer estos vehículos militares de la era de Vietnam y la II guerra mundial a qué tengan una segunda vuelta.
      Saludos desde Denver Colorado.

    Drove an earlier model years ago. Still have a US Army Military driver's license to legally drive m-151’s, a1, a2 & a3. The speedometer only went to 45-mph. All were 4-speed transmissions.

    @ricardoeldelmustang It's a "Chemical Detection Unit" The first Jeep in the Convoy would carry this unit, works off a sealed battery making it portable or 24V from vehicle, pumps air through a radioactive sensor and when nerve agents are in the ambient air it will trigger an alarm to indicate use of gas masks were necessary. the alarm is tested at 1:11.

      M43 Chemical Agent Automatic Alarm. My USAR unit trained in NBC a good bit and used up some batteries. Non-rechargeable and disposable, I cut one open once. It was full of D-cell batteries.

    What's that system under the passenger side dashboard? What ever it is, it started rattling about a month ago. Sounds like some sort of a fan grinding on the cylinder casing.

    • @estradalex

      It's the heater. Check the fan motor and unplug it if not using it.

    You should get around 15 MPG. I don't use mine as a daily driver so it has never been an issue.
    I'm sure that you can replace the engine to a modern one and the electrical system to 12V, but why?? It will be considered sacrilege to most collectors/restorers, including myself Haha.
    Good luck!

    • @StarryNightMachinima
      @StarryNightMachinima 5 лет назад

      The reason is 2 fold, Mainly budget (if they dont spend then they get less next time around) the other reason is that the battlefield is evolving and new threats come forth all the time. IED's for example forced the retirment of the humvee early because of its flat bottom and lack of explosive defense. These old trucks dont have the storage, Off road capabilities, Weight, Power, or modularity to operate on todays battlefield. We have a lot more equipment needing to be hauled around compared to 1970's. Also US military doctrine changes about every 20 years because of advances in combat research and new tech, So we need to keep up with the times.

    Hola, Si es M151A2 de los 70's como este, es muy raro que tengan en # ya que se localiza en una placa remachada a ta tapa de la transmisión al lado derecho del acelerador, con el tiempo se pierde. Si es el M151 de los 60's, se localiza en el chasis bajo el radiador, también remachado.
    Suerte!
