I think it has to be the midfielder that becomes the final Chosen One, because otherwise (I think) you'll have a GK, two CBs and a full-back as Chosen Ones. If they don't develop as hoped, locking in 4 out of 6/7 defensive players for possibly 15 years could cause problems by the time you hit Serie A. I'd honestly be tempted to make both of the options Chosen Ones and remove the title from one of the CBs. Hypothetically, Chiellini and Bonucci could carry an average player in a 3CB system, but Chiellini or Bonucci would struggle to carry two average CBs. When the GK is another locked-in player, I just think it's shrewder to enable yourself to be as strong as possible in front of him. Think GK, CB, RB/RWB, CM, Winger, CF is easier to cover weaknesses with other quality players than GK, CB, CB, RWB, RW, CF. Something to consider.

Of course, you could make the CB who can play LWB the chosen one and strip it from the other CB, that keeps the positional options open. Also, I'd be strongly tempted to offer all the chosen ones new contracts with release clauses once the facilities improve a bit.

This type of save I play thoroughly and everyday to keep the video regularity up. You get more engaged with it the deeper the journey gets but it's already started to get it's claws into me
