I think she's not a descendant but reincarnation...when she meet the real feng wu in her dreams..she said she is her and "her" is she..so she is the modern feng wu..

I searched on Google to know what happened that her master took away t on her wedding day it turns out that she was from modern world remember her instant noodles in episode 27 .
In the first ep her master tells that she wont live much because he gave her his phoenix blood, i guess the time expired and she died, that is why she saw his spirit and nobody else. In the end its a sad story, maybe her master gave the dead body of Feng Wu his pupil soul so she could save the world in his guidance.
It's not the ending that counts but the journey? That's just bullshit. Chinese drama directors always have the urge to wreck the actors' good work for their own controlling egoistic kind of ending. They should examine their own motives and the psychology of the viewer when they end a drama this way. It satisfies no one. People will only remember the bad ending and regret they watched the drama. Sadly because of the ending, I don't recommend watching this drama to anyone.
But the journey was good. This drama is worth watching for the journey but not for the ending. Since you spend more time watching the journey, it doesn’t matter what the ending is tho. You wouldn’t even care and regret that you’ve watched it since the journey is good anyways. But I agree that this drama needs season 2 because I hate dramas with open endings. Why do I often punish myself watching chroma,each one like the last, never happy ending ,is like Chinese way of thinking prefers super misery and unhappiness even I the make believe world,why did they hate happiness even in their literally work, i mean isn't the world miserable enough for them ,why even bother.
Same thought. Life is already a lot of work and sometimes emotionally draining so i prefer a drama with good ending while i take a break from real life. This drama i stopped watching early because it is too shallow. Everyone deserted and look down on her after she lose her power. Even to get approval for marriage she have to get her power back. How shallow is friends and family whom leaves you after you lose all of your money. If a man family demand that of me, that is not sincere and not real love. Also events is so predictable. Handsome male lead but that is it. I watch few minutes clips here and there for fun but i drop this drama completely.
