3:30p + /10.13.2024 Beautiful and thank you to Paul, Pegasus, NYC Early Music and any and all other early music artists that keep this music going through the centuries! You are loved! I’m more isolated and too poor to attend concerts, but I 1:19:59 am so grateful for You Tube as well! ❤
Paul O'Dette is without question a master of the lute. He has done for the instrument a part of what Andres Segovia has done for the Spanish guitar. His recording of John Dowland's galliards is a superb work.
The new golden age of the lute presented by one of it's champions. Ginned up by a few years of partimento study, I got my first lute yesterday. If you play guitar at all you will go nuts, as the machine is light as a feather, round like a baby, and full of rich sounds that our microphones and speakers cannot yet transmit. Easier to play at a basic level than one would think :) Thank you for this inspiring concert!!
I've been listening to Dowland's music for 30 years and Paul's interpretations of his pieces are easily my favorite. Great content here, well done and keep it coming!
How beautiful, Paul! Thank you for bringing this music across the centuries to us as fresh as when it was first played. We were in German IV class together, which we had in the hall, at Whetstone H.S. and you spent time in the instrumental music dept. too, where I played clarinet. Love you're telling us about the lutenists and their times. 😊
Que música tan grande y tremendamente íntima. Magnífica interpretación de Paul O'Dette ante la extrema dificultad de las piezas escogidas. Gracias maestro por su excelente ejecución y lectura que tanta paz brinda a los oyentes. Saludos
I am a classical guitar player, and jazz pianist (sum combination...) love both eguily l, v just discovered this society promise to keep in touch it's great, l also travel once a year to n. Y. Hope to meet you guys in person p. G.
It sounds like somebody is doing carpentry at the same time. Are those fingering sounds, or the chair creaking, or compression pumping background noise and hum?

A real treasure, and an incredibly erudite musician.

How lucky are we to see him play this so well up until this day! Blessed be the internet and long live Odettitto!
I never get tired of POD's playing

The Elizabethan English tuning is a damned sight more logical than the guitar too.

Beautifully played. Thank you very much for the upload and for the information about his European musical travels

Isn't the Lute a beautiful instrument especially since it is being played by the best Lute player in the world.
GOD bless PegasusEarlyMusic and Paul O'Dette in the name of Jesus! What a treat!😍
What a wonderful reply!
Paul, iI love that at times you play the Lute like a rock musician
Funny…I was about to say the same thing. I love him…he’s a monster, he just eats it up.

Thank you very much, enjoyed each word and sound. Andi 😁.
Carman's Whistle is extremely difficult, yet he makes it looks simple. Amazing.
30:22 BY THE WAY
最後のダウランドの演奏はとてもいいと思いました。ダウランドについてのお話も楽しかったです。

Lovely lute interpretation and a useful history lesson ! Amazing journey through Downland music and life !
Forgot to say how beautiful you play not to mention how beautiful dowlands music is
Thanks for this beautiful music
This are the briliant heritages.
One of the happy few lutenists who can bring exuberance to this most pensive and introspective of plucked instruments.
Beautiful!!

Awesome concert and wonderful introduction.

Great Paul, greetings from Bergamo, and from Antonio Terzi!
Love the early Besard pieces.
Bravo!
Paul kicks ass bravo
Wonderful! thank you for posting this.
Un vrai grand plaisir, merci Paul!
Amazing how sounds the lute.!
Amazing performance, kept me on my toes the whole time. Specially loved the Landgrave of Hesse's Pavan (brings really good memories).
Holy crap this sounds amazing. Great performance and the sound people should get raises.
Nicely played.
Qué preciosidad
здоровья и творческого долголетия Вам, Поль. Слушаю и балдею!
Te amo Paul!!!! Gracias por existir
It begins at 13:46
Beautiful, Thank you!
Genial
The second tune, also in Santino Garsi da Parma.
It sounds like somebody is doing carpentry at the same time. Are those fingering sounds, or the chair creaking, or compression pumping background noise and hum?
I thinks it's his breathing - you can hear it on some of his recordings - Lord Herbert Of Cherbery in particular.
nice result! you make it look like easy!. Im your new friend

Almost looks like he's trying to eat the lute. Maybe he's hungry? 🍖
Admittedly, that lute does look delicious 🤗
slow down please
Pity about the traffic noise throughout. Luckily Dowland and Co never had to deal with 21st century annoyances such as this.
I can strum Smoke on the Water.
Dowland was the Bach off his time, A legend...
peepoPog
Boring endless intro. Put me off. Go straight to Thomas Dunford recital at Wigmore Hall. Intense delight.
Hm. I’m really enjoying it.
