- Hey so, I haven't been able to post in a while because I've been real busy with school. It's my last year of high school (In New Zealand we go for 5 years! from around the ages 13-18) and in my film class I decided to make an animation. Last year I tried to do the same, but that was for the final film, where I had 3 months to make it and well... If you've seen it, it sure aint finished. This year I was ready to make smarter decisions. And did I? no, but I got faster at animating!....... anyway so we basically do 2 short films in my film class, one with about a months time frame (supposed to be 1 min long), and a final one with a 3 month time frame (7 mins max). This is my 1 month one, except I wasted so much time drawing the storyboard on paper and character designing that the I had to do all the actual animating in around a weeks time (if we exclude the days I work and cant be animating). In other words I AM SO TIRED BAHAHAHA.
But I figured I might as well post it, since I managed to finish it! I was aware I wouldn't be able to animate a fully coloured and rendered music video in 1 month, so I decided from the start it would be "storyboarded" or whatever this over-animated storyboard thing is. Animatic? maybe? Anyway, I hope you enjoy! We had to base these videos from a Māori Whakataukī, which is like a proverb. Mine was about succession so I made a very random, very meaningless story of a homeless guy hunting a giant monster fish for revenge because when he was a child (also homeless) he stole from this monster hunter lady and came across the fish and she still saved him so he is now succeeding her in monster hunting.
AKA I thought of this plot one day in class and decided I felt like drawing fish so I ran with it.

Animation tool was CSP- I did absolutely minimal editing in Premiere (adding the black bars)
I got inspiration to use this song from Tyns map we love Tyndrum in this household

I noticed at both 0:30 and 0:43 you have the character get up. Not sure if that was purposeful or not, just wanted to let you know.
Ah, this is finished, as the intention from the start was always to make it a storyboard. But yeah haha thats one issue I didn't spot! There is a ton of mistakes if you look closely, but I have no intention of going back and finishing them hahaha. (to name a few, in the first shot the hand used to lift the hat is the wrong one, there are many scenes where characters are missing, the whiskers missing from the fish's face, the small fish seen at the beginning never return, the red fish's size drastically lessens as the animation goes on...) Don't worry, I am fully okay with all the mistakes hahaha
