The fingers should rest lightly on the keys. The wrist and forearm should be in line with the back of the hand with the fingers falling naturally down onto the keys. There is no need to lift the fingers up from the keys. A slight roll of the forearm will facilitate the left to right movement of the fingers. At all times the hand and wrist and fingers should supported by the correct position of the forearm. Shoulders should remain down. Hanson is considered old fashioned and encourages unhelpful movements of the fingers that long term can lead to inflammation of the tendons.
Ive noticed when i play, my fingers tend to go up, especially the pinky. So when i play, it requires more energy to bring the pinky down to play any note. So ive started to practice trying to rest my fingers on the keyboard as im playing in order to eliminate as much unnecessary movement as possible
Just taught me something, I usually play with my fingers moving slightly left and right, feels uncomfortable to my wrist. I see you sort of push tucking your wrist down, I tried it and it makes a world a difference. 👍🏼 😊
If you take the number 25 and multiply it by 3, then you’ll get my favorite number which is 75, by the way, but I don’t think you really know the reason why that it is so I’m gonna fucking tell you why! If you take a lookie over here, then you will see it’s very clear, it’s the atomic number of my favorite element, but at this point you prolly already know what it is, but if I hadn’t made it clear, it’s Rhenium!
Well explained....I was in search of this lesson .... went through many videos....this I felt the best comparatively 😊

So without the high lifting of the fingers is fine to do this exercise pretty frequently right
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!

You can get it free from IMSLP
So you can lift your fingers off the keyboard?? I thought they had to rest on the keys all the time.
Do people do these in other keys or is the point to just do the exercise?
In all keys❤

This is not good technique, why are you lifting fingers constantly ?
u play wrong, u must play legato, not non legato
The piano sounds out of tune.
