How much is the sharpening set up my man?? Ive been looking to maybe upgrade from a standard stone to something where the angle can actually be controlled like this kit here. Theres no way i can hols my blade steady at 17°, it blows my mind people think setting their knife against a guide somehow gives them the stability to free hand a perfect 17° every time
Lol ikr? Those dudes are machines. For the rest of us, use the precision adjust by work sharp - base model is $60, the one shown is the elite version with extra stones for $120. Assess which features you need best and buy accordingly 👌🏼
You have to be careful with guided systems like this also. The angles are just for reference and not the actual angle. You really need a angle cube or a app to check angles. The sharpie trick is ok, but with these, you have to check the angle at the base and tip bc depending on how it's clamped, it can be a degree or 2 different at the tip. Also, the size of the blade/ height will change the angle. So it might say 17° on the sharpener, but bc the blade size, it could be 12° or 22° . My old lansky was 8° off at times.
@@Trolldaddy5 it’s not perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better than free handing without being skilled. Like you said just get an angle cube and I would recommend marking where the clamp fits on the blade in case of movement.
The only bad thing about the work sharp is the plastic the diamond stones are in doesn’t allow it to go all the way to the back of a PM2. The plastic hits where the grind begins and doesn’t let the stone go all the way. And I don’t want to put a choil on my PM2. Had to use a lansky to get the stone all the way back.
Awesome video. Im starting to customize my beloved para 3. I already made the skinny handles, and engraved the blade, but it got me thinking. Could I perhaps make the edge a bit longer by filing down the finger choil? I don’t use it, but I sure could use a longer blade. Thoughts ?
I set mine to 18 degrees. Did a lot of reading and it seems like it’s 17-18 factory but as a general rule of thing 15-18 degrees is fine for typical EDC use
Thanks for the help! I’ve kind of been having trouble with figuring out my WorkSharp. Also, saw a video of yours about some Jordan EDC patch, what shoes do you have?
@@RonKwok Yes, yes there is. My bad, it was SO QUICK it didn't really register for me. Perhaps I shouldn't watch Futurama at the same time as watching RUclips shorts. :p
Yes I was actually worried it would be so hard to sharpen but it cleans up nice and doesn’t take that long. That’s with the worksharp precision of course I can’t sharpen free hand worth a damn lol 😂
No matter how you sharpen knives, you gotta use two hands. Two hands on your knife using a whetstone, two hands on your knife on a bolted down system, or one hand on the stone and one hand on the worksharp. You could bolt this one down and do it one handed but kinda defeats the purpose of the portable system. Pick your poison man!
I recommend the paramilitary 2 if your state allows 3.5 inch blade in public however the para three isn’t a bad alternative by any means just feel like with the bigger overall profile it cuts a little bit smoother
Maxamet WAY easier to sharpen than I thought: bit.ly/3XqRQ5d
Super clean
Thanks man!!!
Love mine!
Need to get one of these sharpeners asap
Comes in CLUTCH my guy

This sharpener is tough to use for a full flat ground blade as you can’t really get a stable grip on it with the clamp.

I’ve got same knife and same sharpener. I can attest yes it gets very sharp. I do mine on 17 degrees what you got yours set at ?
I have mine set to 18 but on the para 3 I still see some of the original grind so it might be operator error or I need to lower the angle
@@RonKwok that’s why I went to 17 it seems to clean the factory edge perfectly.
What angle did you set your worksharp to? I don't want to reprofile and I'm having trouble matching angle...

Now make the paper cut the knife
Holdup I gotta sharpen the paper 😂
@@RonKwok you got this bro!!
Only in Mother Russia does paper cut knife
Hey can you do a video on how to do the spidey flick I love spyderco and can never figure it out
Already have: ruclips.net/user/shortsm74QakaxF0o
@@RonKwok sweet thanks
Whetstone only
How many times do you stroke the blade with the stone on each side?
I go 10-20 on each side and keep switching til I feel a burr before going to a finer grit

what sharpener is that?
The Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite!
Shoulda done a demo cut BEFORE sharpening. Looks simple enough though.
There’s a quick cut of it in the beginning snagging on paper

What angle?
15 degrees!
@@RonKwok sheesh! That’s a fine edge, I prefer 20-25 for my daily working knives. They hold the edge longer. Nice technique though
How much did you abuse that knife to get maxamet that dull!
Daily use and didn’t sharpen it for years 🫠
Nice to see its not too difficult to sharpen Maxamet. ✌️
right?! So surprised

Do you have to hold the base the whole time, because that would be very annoying

When you cut the paper with the dull knife 😣😖
I wouldn’t even call it cut, more like ripped the paper 😂

Para 3 is the way to be my guy, the length of the blade matters not at all, especially not 'in public', seeing as a knife is a tool.
Maxamet that full... Hmm 🤔 seems like mega 🧢
I’d rather have the benchmade 940
👌🏼👌🏼
Nah, the PM2 Crucarta is the one
@@TheRhino2719 the 940 is superior
940 is the most hideous knife ever and spyderco price is warranted benchmade is overpriced
