Jean-Michel Jarre will always be one of the greatest composers to ever exist. His way of continuing to surprise the audience with both new songs and timeless classics is incredible. How he uses everyday sounds, like the turning of a candle flame or the flap of a pigeon's wings, as a means of introduction or for setting the correct mood or ambience is outstanding. His dexterity to go from dramatic, rhythmical and intense music to harmonic, expansive and symphonic melodies is beyond recognition. He is the embodiment of the musical imagination combined with the experimentalism of 21st century technology. With virtual reality he has opened a new way of spectacle and appreciation of his magnificent works and for all kinds of musical genres. Now people can witness live the splendour of his ouvres while being at distance. I have been listening to Jean-Michel Jarre's compositions ever since I was small and always has it never ceased to amaze me. From Oxygene and Equinoxe to Rendez-vous, Les Chantes Magnetiques and beyond, it is a journey I will always appreciate to experience over and over again through my headphones and hope to truly live it in a concert. With this I wish to give my congratulations to Jean-Michel Jarre for astonishing us and to give my gratitude to him for once again sharing his marvelous talent. Salutations from Costa Rica. 🇨🇷
I grew up listening to this genius music composer, 40 years later his music continues to captivate as in those days from when he created La Cage, Deserted Palace, Oxigene, Equinoxe and so many simply wonderful creations. Essential food for our soul.
After almost 50 years of composing, JM Jarre its still amazing ... I thought his era is dead, but he is reborned, once again. Amazing he can still find resources. Good job JMJ. 😮
@@LifeIsJustARide I discovered him in the late 70's, and was hooked, and his era not only never died, but he's been putting out records and doing shows without any major breaks at all, and probably will continue until he just can't do it anymore, and knowing him, if his hands no longer work, he will have someone make him a system he can trigger the synths and sequencers with whatever body parts he can still move, like his lips, tongue, knees...! The man is 20% flesh, and 80% music! I've seen him live 3 times, and bought just about every record he put out, but he also made some there are only very few ever made, and idea of limited edition isn't in the thousands or even hundreds, but either one for each audience member for a single show, under 100 copies and similar to be auctioned for charity, and things like that. There is even one of just a single one of a kind, album on vinyl from a one time live radio broadcast, for which there was high security so no one at the studio could be recording it secretly... than when they pressed the single album, they destroyed any that didn't turn out right (Warp, or off center, as well as the mold! It has an even wilder story: A man who never even heard of him, was driving cross country, lost reception, tuned it to whatever station he could receive, and liked what he was hearing, but somehow got into a terrible car accident😯, when he came to the radio was still playing it and it calmed the man while passerby's rendered first aid until the ambulance arrived, the next day, probably still in critical care he asked everyone he could what the station was... and someone at the hospital knew exactly what he was talking about and told him what it was, and that there's a fat chance he would get his hands on it for being a one of a kind to be auctioned off soon (a weak or two). The man thought it contributed to his survival because he nearly bled to death, and it prevented him from panicking to where he probably would have, and had to have it. He plundered his bank accounts... and either went to the auction, sent a family member, or hired an auction buyer to get it... but I don't remember if he won the auction, or begged the person who did to sell it to him, but he did end up with it!🤯 I believe it was over 150,000 French Franks, in the 1980's if I'm correct. And the story is still out there I'm sure! I do have the show, because of course people taped it of the radio, and it's out there, but sans the one off cover art... which few have ever seen. I may not have this one entirely correct either, but I remember a video here on RUclips not too long ago where he was showing off some very limited release (maybe just 5 or 10) on the day it arrived at his house! I think it was a CD, and interactive DVD software combo with a large Book of high quality artwork and print where the DVD software uses a mild form of AI (random generator) to reconfigure the sequences so that it's different every time you listen to it! So there are some that I have not got my hands on, and maybe never will, because I cannot afford what some of them would probably go for which I'm sure increases over time and even jumps up in price every time on gets lost, or busted... and after he is no longer with us😢who knows how high. As to "his era", Tangerine dream never stopped either and even after Edgar Froese died in 2015, his mates carried on, and are still active, with the last album being from 2022. They changed way too much for my taste and I only like a few albums after the late 80's where they became more of a New age band. The Bauman, Froese, Franke years (70's) were the best: Freaking incredible, and believe it or not, but there are a few bands out there now that emulate that style and era very well that are fantastic, so you may want to look into it. Great timeless music like that may never go out of style! Happy holidays!
@@Bob-of-Zoid I know he is still composing, but like Tangerine Dream, after the 90s , his music wasn't so inspired, for my taste. He became more commercial. And now he come with this concert ... amazing.
Jean Michel Jarre is my favorite of my life since 1976. Of course I miss the concerts with great pictures on screens as whole show, like Versailles the Swatch tour, the music that he made today is so much more then in these aerlier years. THANKS
I was twelve year's old in 1978, when I first heard Jean - Michel's brilliant music and just fell in love with it, and have been a fan ever since. At 57 now am still a big, big, fan.
Merci infiniment et Heureux Nouvel An! 🙏🙏🙏🥂🍾🔥❤️
This is the best Jean Michel Jarre concert since the 80s 🤩 I am blown away with tears in my eyes! This is larger than life and the universe make sense when I hear his music! 🙏 Been a fan since the start 80s and will be it to the end! Thanks JMJ ❤️❤️❤️
JMJ, you' re the hero of my childhood! I' ve used to listen your songs from my father's old tapes. As a child, I was dreaming to become an astronaut, so I have listened your songs from the Oxygen album, and imagined that I'm traveling through the space. I stil love your music after all of those decades. 👍👊
Thank you, Jean-Michel! It's nice to be able to enjoy your amazing virtual concert, right when it was made public! Electronic instruments and VR have come a long way since the 70s, but your music is still in the forefront of the development of this genre. Without your contribution and relentless effort it wouldn't be what it is now. Congratulations!👍❤️🎼🎵🎹
To me, one thing stands out here, in terms of visual art: the transformation of the ancient aristocrats into futuristic robots in Revolution Industrielle. The idea is amazing, with a message: the past lives on, there is continuity in everything about the State of France, be it 400 years or more. The spirits of those who once lived there have transformed and are now playing virtual music at the palace. Very moving. Thank you, Jean-Michel.
Flipping awesome as always thats why I have loved him since 1977 I was 9 years old then now am 55 and still he takes me places with his awesome sounds. He is just simply the best of all time. I can see his music feel his music music and go inside his music too he also puts me on a natural high with his sounds. He never fails me and nor shall I fail him I have been his fan to long for that. Hes not God nor master he's jean michel jerre and his moto i remember him saying ( I JUST MAKE MUSIC. THEY JUST FOLLOW ME ) I love you jean michel. He is master to all music. Mt friend Jessie loves him too. Take care JMJ I wish you a peaceful and musicfull new year. All my love from USA
Thank you Jean-Michel Jarre for always staying fresh, innovative and forward thinking. Unlike 99,99% of older, successful artists, you are still taking risks and are embracing the recent technological and musical developments. You are doing to electronic music what David Bowie did for rock or what Miles Davis did in jazz: reinventing your musical style in every decade, on almost every album. This concert was visually beautiful and more advanced compared to the animantion quality of Alone Together or Welcome to the other side. The music was a great mix of old classics, popular Electronica hits, but I liked the little surprises the most: the opening song, the AERO versions and especially Falling Down, which you played at a concert for the first time. The technical issues with the RUclips stream and the VR Room however, were really disappointing, the technical team failed. Please do what's neccessary and make sure that this will never happen again. Anyways, thanks for this concert and I'm looking forward to your next project.
I agree. Not everything is going to be to everyone's tastes but why should an innovator stop innovating just because some people can't handle progress?
it´s not the concert itself, the idea, the concept and the whole thing of music, show and space....always a step ahead in everything....nothing will stop you JMJ
I remember my uncle Benjamin bringing home Oxygène in vinyl in 1977. I was 11 years old and was living in Mexico City. That was the beginning for me. Has been my life soundtrack along all this years. Larga vida a Jean Michel - Jarrè.
Being introduced to Jean-Michel Jarre in 1976 at the age of 16 was part of the reason why I’m mainly listening to House,Trance and other forms of EDM now
Unbelievable. ❤Love it I was in London, Docklands in 1988. Never will forget this. You said then, Frogs like Rain. I don't 😂. I was wet and cold to the bone. But it was all worth it. Greetings Dirk Belgium
Udv Bp-rol.
I haven't actually listened to Jean Michel Jarre's music since the early 80ies, when I had some on vinyl, only rediscovered his music when I thought I recognized a snippet of an old JMJ track in a movie. I did an internet search for it and found he has been performing this show just 3 weeks ago, not even far away and still very impressive, mixing old an new material and with all the AR show. Respect! He still got it. Great!
No dancers for Zero Gravity You could see that Jean wanted them to dance but all they could manage was to clap their hands. That track was bangin', I would love to see him do a dance festival in the summer. To be honest, there were many danceable tracks in the set. But I've been a fan since the 80s and I know that it really isn't really a dance crowd that attends the concerts. Brilliant concert, loved it!
What a fabulous concert! Thank you so much for all you have done over all the years. Absolutely incredible that you’re still innovative and keeping up with technology and current dance music! Genius!
I had the fortune to have met Jean Michelle.Jarre and Isabelle Adjani back in the early 2000's when I worked as a Physiotherapist at a well known health resort in Thailand and they were both very nice friendly and open people . He was Incredibly intuitively intelligent and always looking for inspiration regarding his work and interactions with others . A Genius .
What an amazing Christmas Miracle this treat was! I have watched this 4 times now. How can any musician aged 75 have this amount of energy, stage presence, visual and musical intention? If any EDM "dj" half his age did something like this then THAT would be ground-breaking. A very nice selection of tracks old and newer for an 1 hour show. Most tracks carefully reworked and freshened up, staying relevant for fans who enjoyed the original catchy tunes 20, 30,40, nearly 50 years ago. It is obvious that this is a compact setup with backup sequences synced to the light and graphics. OF COURSE it has to be so. But unlike "dj"s in latex catsuits pretending to turn knobs constantly without reason then Jarre is rather transparently showing he is interacting with the gear and prepared material. Piano here, soloing there, triggering sound effects there, maybe turning 2 knobs which we don't know what was doing(?) Sure, it would be nice to have a live percussionist, a bass player or a rock solid synth demonstrator who can play any sequence as tight as the original recording. There would still be a massive amount of backing needed for these more complex orchestrations. Let's get real, this is a tight space and a tight performance. Very well done and executed by the whole team! Cons: I don't see the MR glasses being relevant for performing artists or improving the performance, camera angles and constant fast movement made me dizzy (feeling older now), the streaming was too choppy (but this version is good). Jarre should have 4 arms so he can clap and interact with the audience while playing. Scaling this to 10.000, 100.000 or 1.000.000 of old days seems like a challenge. But hey, seeing this performed for 400 at an intimate beautiful location and nay-sayers would have denied it could be done. Once again Jarre DID it.
Only JMJ could come up with a concert in such a venue in such a unique manner, with such innovation and inspiration. The best versions of old favorites and newer tracks....Please keep on innovating and redefining what is possible. I've been a fan since 1977, and been to concerts in Paris and LA.... and each one was an amazing experience that has impacted my life, and JMJ's music forms the soundtrack of my life!
Reading all these comments…totally agree…grew up listening to him ..first concert I saw on tv..was the Houston one and it blew me away! Here we are now nr end of 2023 and I’m nearly 53! and another vr concert! ..I don’t yet have vr…so waited till you tube version….love his music….at times experimental……but so so clever…I also love to listen on headphones as it takes me away from this crazy world! I really hope he brings out a new studio album or tries to do outdoor concert….most of albums are on the 8-9 out of 10 if not 10 and just the sounds, etc are other worldly..well done JMJ….love these new versions too….keep it coming!!! We want more music !
The Maestro is back, most producers like me started because of you, simply thanks for everything you did all these years, and I'm happy to see that you are still at your best ;)
Fabuleux concert, Maestro !
Superb set. For anyone who found Oxymore a little too experimental, this was reassuringly impressive. Nice combination of (mostly) Electronica and Aero mixes, many with great improvements.
Thank you once again Jean-Michel for a great concert. You have inspired me since the Space Shuttle days and your concert in Houston. You have not stopped to amaze me. You are to me the founder and future of electronic music. ❤❤❤

@@Destroyed-hn7gxThere were definitely many enhancements to nearly all of those tracks though, even if they were based on Aero and Electronica tour mixes.
Yes loving the order they are played and enhancements!!...fingers crossed this is released as a CD version in the near future....🤞....the Composers of the time at the Palaces creation would be absolutely blown away at how our music has evolved!!...Excellent Concert Jean!!!...💜🎶🎵🎶💜
Grab a notebook and pencil and Take notes as a brilliant composer grows up who changed the lives of all of us with his revolutionary music and I believe that today's teenagers who discover him ... are surprised that such sensational music can exist, it makes you you feel like ... in the future, and now, after 40 years, it's timeless music, or infinite, as I like to say ... always music of the future, no matter how much time passes
JMJ the best performance ever, seen since Houston! Sound, revival, and virtual... (all combined+physichal view of "Galerie des Glaçes"à Absolute amazing! Thanks (Fan of U since 80'ties!!!)
From the studio to the Docklands to the pyramids of Egypt, the ancient lands of China ,the cities of Europe, to the launch pads of NASA, to those who gave their lives in space, no venue has proven large enough to contain the visions of Jarre. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO
This concert was a truly delightful experience for me, especially due to the inclusion of numerous songs that I deeply admire. It served as a significant milestone in my personal journey. Kudos to you, Jean, for such an unforgettable performance!
Hey Jennifer, do you know how to participate in this concert. Also the vr concert in paris.I have a quest 3 so I want to experience it in vr.Is it possible? And where can I buy/download it?
Thank you very very much monsieur jarre for so many years of so excelent criativity in electronic music and in your so technological concerts around the world.we are very proud of you. What can u say. Jean Michel always delivers. Stunning looking set, loved the keyboard setup. Always at the top of his game with new technology. Been a fan since i was 13, now 53 and still love all he does. Thanks Jean Michel for all the music u have given us.

Amazing 🤩 Extraordinarily beautiful work. I was lucky enough to see him in concert many years ago and I left the concert in a state of bliss and so full of excitement. One of the best experiences of my life. I would have loved to attend the Versailles 400 concert, it looks sensational 🙌🏻
Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪, thank you for this show, it's surprisingly amazing as well as your music, you're always a great influence on all of us, always active with creative and unique spectacular shows. Thank you, Jean-Michel Jarre.
It's spring 1977. I'm 15 years old and in my friends basement with a couple of buddies. We've been partying! My friend puts on this new album, Oxygene, turns off the lights and clicks on a flashing construction traffic warning light. Blinking on and off, on and off. Moving around the room, I swear I'm having some out of body experience, flying through space, and the music is helping to take me there! I have bought every album ever since and shared my love of JMJ's music with everyone I know. Then, in 2017 he announces his North American tour with a stop in Toronto Canada. FANTASTIC concert. The music, the light show. His showmanship! Please Jean Michel, come back to Canada.
Since I was 13 years old that I am delighted and inspired from his JMJ Genius! I am 51 and i always get neurons goosebumps while experiencing this Artist!
Unbelievable show with amazing effects J.M.J - he was the frontier of the music and sounds created on digital synthesized style and will stay the legend of the era - Well done master and Thank You for the years of quality music❤
I, too am a fan for life, Jean-Michel inspires with these wonderful creative gifts of music and spectacle!
A man who never even heard of him, was driving cross country, lost reception, tuned it to whatever station he could receive, and liked what he was hearing, but somehow got into a terrible car accident😯, when he came to the radio was still playing it and it calmed the man while passerby's rendered first aid until the ambulance arrived, the next day, probably still in critical care he asked everyone he could what the station was... and someone at the hospital knew exactly what he was talking about and told him what it was, and that there's a fat chance he would get his hands on it for being a one of a kind to be auctioned off soon (a weak or two).
I'm exactly the same! 1978 and now 57. His music is my go to whenever I am down. It always lifts me back up. ♥

amazing❤
Thank you, Jean-Michel! It's nice to be able to enjoy your amazing virtual concert, right when it was made public! Electronic instruments and VR have come a long way since the 70s, but your music is still in the forefront of the development of this genre. Without your contribution and relentless effort it wouldn't be what it is now. Congratulations!👍❤️🎼🎵🎹
Bravo !!!
That 's right .My touths exacly.

Das sehe ich auch so
Amazing grateful for view a unique showcase exhibition of technology advancement Jean Michel jarre definitely leads in progressive technology

it´s not the concert itself, the idea, the concept and the whole thing of music, show and space....always a step ahead in everything....nothing will stop you JMJ

❤Love it
I was in London, Docklands in 1988.

Genius!

Finally, we got it!!!!! Yayyy, tks. Love the Oxygene sample Oxymore!!!
Gracias Jean-Michel !!!!, Siempre innovador y asumiendo riesgos.
