    The three names:
Rabbi Judah Löw (Full name: Judah Loew ben Bezalel).
The story is part of the Jiddish history, prior Rabbi Löw (who is most famous), two others have been named to be the responsible owner/creator of the Golem:
    Rabbi Baal Shem Tov
Rabbi Davidl Jaffe, Rabbi of Drohiczyn.
So he is one of these three.

I think the "human" was an AI and the creature that saved them both was a simpler older AI model that the "human" befriended and they were both hanging out at the cobbler's because they wanted to for fun or nostalgia or whatever

I just wondered where all our old stories went after we got to space and imagined them wandering the stars trying to fit in.

Theories are that it's either a rumpelstiltskin tie in, or the legend of the wandering jew (Shoemaker of Jerusalim)

I'm thinking 'Going postal' only they have moved down the street to the cobblers from the post office. (Terry Pratchett)

This could be the Myth of the Wandering Jew. a cobbler by trade, who insulted Jesus on the cross and was cursed to wander the earth eternally shoeless for all time. Though that in itself could tie back to the early legend of Cain who was cursed to walk the earth for his crime.
Though some aspects of it also sync with the Legend of the Eternal Hunter which features some Norse mythology.
Anyway the "Wandering Jew" is known in some languages as roughly translated "Shoemaker of Jerusalem". The story reaching the height of it's popularity and myth in the middle ages.
The Jewish origin, as opposed to Rumpelstiltskin as some have mentioned, would explain the golem tie in.

It's an immortal Geppetto and the Golom is Pinocchio.

I also have no clue what the name would be unless it’s Rumpelstiltskin, but the story doesn’t match, only the three guesses.

This is a pretty vague ending for the dudes name. 3 guesses? Whats that allude to?

There are a lot of medieval stories and references about the Golem and in particular those where he was created by Rabbi Loew in Prague to work for him and protect his community. So is Rabbi Loew the name? And why the 3 guesses? I have no idea.. But I like the context, that in cultural history the Golem is seen as an early imagination of an AI. Also this idea of an artificial worker may have influenced the concept of a 'robot' who was first described by a Czech sci-fi author.
And thats what I like about a good story. No easy answers but some things to think about. ☺

Three guesses, Rumplestiltskin is the only name that comes to mind but the Gollum is a mystery.

Golem. Ancient Jewish creature of mythology. Designated protector and guardian of traditions and people. "Programmed" by writing a simple list of commands on a piece of paper and inserting the paper into a slot into the back of its head.
Sorry, but I'm a mythology fanatic. I just had to correct and teach a bit.

I think his question about the golem was not what a golem is, but what it’s tie to Rumplstiltskin is…unless it’s a gingerbread golem, then that makes a lot of sense. lol

I cannot tell a lie, lets my nose grow long. Rumpelstiltskin didn't have a golem. Geppetto did with his sort of son Pinocchio as the Golem.

The famous Rabbi Judah Löw and his Golem of Prague. (Full name: Judah Loew ben Bezalel).
The story is part of thje Jiddish history, prior Rabbi Löw, two others have been named:
      Rabbi Baal Shem Tov
Rabbi Davidl Jaffe, Rabbi of Drohiczyn.
And these are the three names. And to avoid misunderstanding, these were persons who had really existed. Rabbi Judah Löw was living from 1525 to 1609 and was Rabbi of Prague.
