Howdy Josh - I'll be doing some videos on Cowboy Mounted Shooting a little later in the spring that goes pretty deep into the weeds on the sport. We use real single action .45s with special black powder blanks. The blanks will put a hole in your hand at the muzzle, but dissipates after around 20 feet. The black powder is a special synthetic that is kinda chunky and burns a little slower than normal gunpowder. The flame and debris can pop a balloon out to about 15 feet, but is most accurate at around 10-12 feet. We have a 30 foot safety buffer between the rail and the closest balloon. The blanks are center fire with oversized primer holes to ensure good powder ignition. My club's competitions are held over in London Ohio at the fairgrounds, so you might have to come check it out sometime.
That’s a big arena.
It was a fantastic addition to the fairgrounds. It is the perfect size for mounted shooting!
@@Cowboy_Steve Very nice to watch.

Thank you so much and welcome! I've met some really great people from Brock's channel. Nuts... now I'll probably have to buy him a coffee lol 🤠
@@Cowboy_Steve You had better buy him two, haha.
@@Cowboy_Steve Thank you for your support.
Very cool... assume they are shooting some sort of rimfire shotshell that doesn't travel far? fascinating had no idea this was even a thing. - Josh
