Cannot be buried at the National Cemetery because of the law not allowed for someone convicted to prison. He was involved with former President Chun Doo-hwan in the 1979 coup. The 5.18 (1980) Gwangju Uprising saw more than 200 people dead he didn't apologize during his lifetime. Nov. 1995: ARRESTED for bribery charges. April 1997: Sentenced to 17-year prison term by the Supreme Court. Dec 1997: received special pardon. released from prison. March 2006: stripped of 11 national orders of merits, honors.
