The older you get the less comfortable you are watching things die.
People with empathy get to that point a whole lot quicker.
Good psychological profile on poachers. I think the author may have some first hand experience. 🤐
Great story Cam, your the best!

@@DixieCryptid I knew of some too Cam, and I was unknowingly put in a potentially bad situation, enough so that I ended my hunting days pretty early in life because of it. When I go somewhere for recreation, or anything else for that matter, the last thing I want to be doing is worrying about trouble!
It only happened once but that was enough for me. Since the early 80's, Ive only shot thousands of game animals, but only with my camera ;-)
I do miss bird hunting though! But I love birds so Ive got feeders for them and our squirrels in my yard which borders on 60 nice acres of open and wooded land down to a creek.. If I needed the meat though, I wouldnt starve!
And just because a person can write, or tell a story with depth and understanding does not mean they are writing/telling it from 1st hand experience. Anyone with compassion and empathy for all forms of life can do that.

    Alright Dixie Criptid lets go!
You already gave me a heart before I could reply after the story, thank you!
Cam, I loved thit story!!! I got interupted by phone calls right after starting it earlier, so I just got back to finish it, I want to say its one of the best! But there are so many "best" ones its impossible to choose 1, but your telling of this was outstanding in your delivery, and there was a sense of justice in it as well, harsh justice as nature often dishes out but thats how life is!
It's too bad that Eddy's realizations, regrets and remorse came too late for him to turn a new leaf and maybe give him a chance to at least try to make things right with nature, but as real life often is, we do not always get that chance to make things right in our life, especially when we keep procrastinating.
Be it truth or tale this story has some great morals to it.
    Thanks Cam!!!

It's a stark reminder that these beings are wild and potentially dangerous. I wonder if some Bigfoots are just bad ass or if there are different types. Some of which are killers of men and these two Deer poachers were unlucky enough to run into some of them.
I guess, like in all walks of human life, you get good and you get bad. These were some bad ones. There are plenty of tales of benevolent ones, but I guess the people who meet the malevolent ones rarely get to tell the tale.

I totally agree w @DoodleSquatch, it was too well written w/o some first hand knowledge. I hate poachers but I loved the story Cam! Feel bad for their grieving family members. I never realized it actually got that cold down South. That’s a typical cold for us in the winter at 5500’ in Northern Nevada, with the Sierra Nevadas on one side & the high desert on the other. Poachers caught here get humiliated on the radio, newspapers, TV, all social media sites, their guns taken, dogs taken (if hunting birds), trucks are seized, lifetime ban on hunting adjoining western states, a guaranteed monster fine, given jail or prison time,,, etc-basically everything but castration. God bless & keep your great stories coming! Jason

You sucked me right into this one! You’re such a good writer. Your characters are strong and I really felt for them. Not thrilled with them being poachers, but I didn’t like what happened to them. They had redeeming qualities, after all. I love the stories you tell for people who have had encounters with Bigfoot, but please continue to write your own, especially based on real life events. Someone suggested you write a book. I second that motion! It could be about Bigfoot, or really, just about anything. I’d love to read your stories, but I think I’d buy the audiobook so I could hear you narrate it. And maybe add some great music. And maybe the sound of a dog and a chicken or two. Hmm. Well, that may be reinventing the wheel! Happy birthday, Cam! Enjoy celebrating with your family.

Hi Mr Cam. Wow how typical of poachers. I know I had an uncle that was like that. The family did not approve but he was grown and no one witness his crimes. He did get saved years later and began to change. God is good.
They sure put their selves into a pickle. I'm so soft hearted....this is so sad to me. Good for Eddie. He was retentive. Donnie was hard hearted how sad.
Wow bigfoot took care of them. Poor Eddie didnt get his chance to change. Two hunters disappeared. Oh my. TY Mr Cam. Just like life must deal with the good, bad, and ugly. You never disappoint.🙏👍😀🐓🐕

Intriguing story. I like the point where the outlaw hunter finally had some long awaiting empathy for the animals he made suffer all his life, not that he deserved to die for it though.

Cam, you did an amazing job putting that story together and letting us hear it. You definitely have some writing skills. Were you that talented with your writing while in school? Or in college? If so, you left your teachers wanting more, just like your people always do.
My father drilled it into my brothers heads to “shoot to kill, not just wing it, cause if you do, you’ll stay in these woods until you track it down and finish it off” , they learned it well. So a few years later one brother was out hunting (down back on our property )and sees a big buck that was dragging one back leg, or what was left of it. He shot and it was a clean shot. When he got to the deer, he let out a string of curse words as he saw that leg was looking gangrenous. He wasn’t one for breaking the law so he tagged it and dragged it to the barn. Right about then my father pulled in the driveway, saw that he had gotten a big buck and went to take a look, you know, men HAVE to know how many points it has, and saw the mangled oozing green, yellow, and black, mess that used to be a leg. Next his eyes jumped to the rack where he saw the tag. He wasn’t happy to see that my brother had “wasted” his only tag on a deer we couldn’t eat, but he stayed out there with my brother and they loaded into the back of dad’s truck, took it to the neighbors farm where they had a pit that they put the dead cows in, and and asked the neighbor to use his Bobcat to cover it up. Next deer season my brother wasn’t taking any chances. He got a bow license AND a shotgun one!
Sorry for the long comment but in my defense, it’s YOUR fault for reminding me of that story 😊

That's a great story. And an honorable thing your brother did. He was obviously raised to respect our resources. Thanks for writing that. I loved it. Regarding my writing, my grandfather used to tell me I was good at it. I did ok in school. I was more interested in other things. Now when I have time I write stories that have rattled around in my mind for years. I really enjoy the writing process.

Dixie Cryptid , That’s wonderful that you and your grandfather were close enough for him to see your writing talent and story telling capabilities. I know your plate is pretty full but maybe when you have some time, you should start a book full of your stories or one long one. Steven King always said that his mind has always been full of stories and he just started writing them down one day. You’re right up there with him.
Yes, my brother did do the right thing. Unfortunately he had been battling a rare immune disorder since the early 80’s, and he got so tired of being sick and in the hospital, he took his own life in 2012. He left a note to his 3 sons explaining his reasons, so everyone knew and understood why he did it. Best of all, he left us all with some great memories 🙂 Thanks for the compliment and glad you enjoyed my story. Have a nice weekend.
Will there be another video of your family’s party? That was so awesome.
