    Seventeen saved their company from bankruptcy and they mostly self produce everything from song comps, lyrics and even the choreo

    Seventeen was also the first group to do the "fake-out" encore on Killing Voice. It actually comes from a tradition at their concert that fans call "never-ending Aju Nice".
    They perform Aju Nice as the last song of the encore then pretend to say good bye only to replay the hook of the song. But they do this multiple times in a row (they've done it 15+ times in some shows) so Carats never know when the concert is actually over 😂. It's super fun but also super tiring cause they make you jump the whole time as well 💀

    the guy you said has a unique voice is woozi, hes also seventeen's main writer and producer since debut! all the members have participated in writing lyrics and/or production at some point in their career, but woozi is the main name behind 99% of their songs. a fun fact about run to you and why it sounds like an anime intro is bc woozi is a huge anime fan, so the song was actually inspired by anime intros lol 😂

    Seungkwan (blonde, gray suit jacket) is considered one of THE best 3rd gen male vocalists outside of EXO. He also one of the best dancers in Seventeen outside the Performance Unit, which in a dance-oriented group like Seventeen, is _insane_ for a main vocal.

  • @MJAnonymous6003
    @MJAnonymous6003 Месяц назад +56

    One of my favorite things about Seventeen is the fact that they're almost entirely self-produced. Woozi (the short blond in the button-up) is not only one of their lead vocalists but their primary producer, composer, and lyricist to the extent that I believe he had a large hand in the hand in the creation of every song in this killing voice.

    • @ako8357
      @ako8357 Месяц назад +3

      Yes! Not just Woozi (altho he does the most) I think every member but Jun and Minghao (they write primarily on the Chinese tracks) have credits in this KV and there are only a handful of songs in Seventeen's entire discography that don't have _any_ members involved in some aspect, be it writing, composing, producing and/or arranging.

    ROCK WITH YOU, HOT, SUPER, MAESTRO, AJU NICE, DON'T WANNA CRY, THANKS, FEAR, GOD OF MUSIC,CLAP, HOME, ADORE U etc...
    And b-sides like KIDULT, TO YOU, SHADOW, IF YOU LEAVE ME, DARL+ING, MARCH, CRUSH, HEAVEN'S CLOUD, ALL MY LOVE , RUN TO YOU (that anime opening sounding song)etc

    their choreography videos are a must! they're known to be the most synchronized boy group, which is crazy with the number of members they have. I'm also korean-canadian, so I've been listening to kpop all my life but this is the closest, most wholesome group of friends I've ever seen. they have a lot of fans purely for their relationship because everyone wants friends like they do (each other) but also because they're so fun and talented. I'd say a similar line in kpop in btob-mamamoo-seventeen, except that seventeen also has crazy choreo.
    Woozi, who you mentioned has a really interesting voice (blonde hair at 6:18) has been co-writing and producing basically all of their songs since debut with another singer-songwriter named Bumzu! Though Vernon and S.Coups also have a high number of credits as well.
    I would also recommend Kwon Jin Ah's killing voice. She's a crazy vocalist/ singer-songwriter who is quite underrated in the international scene though recognized in Korea.

    You have just encountered THE MOST UNIQUE and (in my opinion as well as the opinion of MILLIONS of others) THE MOST OVERALL TALENTED group in K-Pop. Their vocals are amazing, their songs/lyrics grab your heart, and once you watch them actually perform, you'll understand why they're called "The Kings of Synchronicity". They dance/perform PERFECTLY IN SYNC with each...and it's MIND BLOWING! The shortest member (Woozi) with short blonde hair in this Killing Voice is their producer. They are a self-producing group, and every song in this Killing Voice was WRITTEN AND PRODUCED by Woozi. (He may be the shortest, but he's the biggest gun in their arsenal!) They won MAMA's 2023 "Album of the Year" with "Super" aka Sonongong (the MV will literally BLOW YOU AWAY), and MAMA's 2024 "Album of the Year" AS WELL AS "Artist of the Year" with the song "God of Music" (a tribute to God who gives music) from their Seventeenth Heaven album. (Yes...all written/produced by Woozi with contributions by other members.)
    They are THE MOST humble, down to earth, CHAOTIC and HILARIOUS, loving, gracious, empathetic (with their fans aka "Carats" as in "17 Carat" diamonds), supportive, POSITIVE, gracious and appreciative of their fans' support GROUP I've ever heard/seen/watched/witnessed. Yes, BTS is big; and yes, even Seventeen says THEY wouldn't have been able to succeed if BTS hadn't paved the way...not just for them but for all groups in K-Pop. Yes, Stray Kids are the most "pop" popular group in the USA. HOWEVER, if you're looking for a soft place to land at the end of the day, or a friend who understands, THAT'S Seventeen.
    I've not known them THAT long (2 years); but I have to say, Seventeen rescued me from a dark place and breathed life and love back into my heart and spirit. Other groups have great songs; but Seventeen has the heart I love the most.
    THANK YOU for this reaction. I really hope you explore and get to know them more. Watch their performance MVs. Your mind will be blown!

      P.S. Woozi's voice...his heart...his GENIUS. We call him "King" for a reason! WIth over 175
      6 copyrighted songs? Yeah! He even writes/produces for other artists and groups! Without Woozi, Seventeen wouldn't be Seventeen!
      WATCH...PAUSE...READ...and BE IMPRESSED BEYONG WORDS at their accomplishments!!! ♥

    It's a common misconception but Seventeen wasn't really a 17-member group cut down to 13. Their agency (Pledis) did originally plan to debut a 17-member group but they never actually managed to gather 17 trainees for debut. As a result, the group's debut kept getting delayed so some trainees left, others joined, and at some point the agency decided to pull the plug and just debut the 13 members they had.

    • @user-rp2vs9yr1x
      @user-rp2vs9yr1x Месяц назад +3

      If I am not wrong they did include 17 members pre-debut (Samuel, Dongjin, Doyoon and Mingming) and they all left for different reasons 😅

    • @jadev164
      @jadev164 Месяц назад +1

      @@user-rp2vs9yr1x It's actually a complete coincidence that the total number of trainees that were part of Seventeen's pre-debut team add up to 17.
      The max number of trainees in the team was 16 at most (and only for like 1 month before Samuel left). The team stayed at 15 members for a while then Doyoon and Mingming ended up leaving ~1 year after Samuel and Pledis added Minghao to replace them. But then Dongjin left too and Pledis was like "f* it, the current trainees are ready, let's debut them before more people leave" and debuted the remaining members.

    Don't be scared of how many members there are, when I decided to get into Seventeen I had the same fear for the same reason but surprisingly it only took me a couple of days to learn their names and who each one was. Somehow Seventeen makes it so easy for you to know who they are and become a Carat. If you want to check out some of their music first to find out if they're a group that catches your attention, I recommend you to do so and don't just think of them as 13 people. If you like their music, getting to know their personalities, checking out their content and deeping into their discography won't be hard at all, I promise you. Seventeen is one of the best and most talented groups in kpop, if you enjoy their music you won't regret it

  • @milindawilson9175
    @milindawilson9175 Месяц назад +10

    Seventeen is one of the Kpop industry's very first self-produced idol groups, this means that the 13 members of Seventeen are the ones that create everything themselves, with help and advice from Pledis Entertainment's choreographers, songwriters and rap producers when needed. But the majority of everything you see and hear is created by the members and the professionals are only consulted or asked to assist to bounce ideas off of and to finetune things, etc.
    When they debuted Pledis Entertainment was a really small company that had almost no money, and Seventeen had to learn how to make do with what they had a lot of the times. That's one of the reasons why Seventeen became a self-produced group, because it saved the company money if they didn't have to pay songwriters, producers, choreographers, etc. to come up with everything for them, and it just so happened that they had some really talented members who were excellent at songwriting, choreographing and producing, etc. Seventeen was instrumental in Pledis' success. Similar to how BigBang pretty much made YG Entertainment what it is today, Seventeen was the group that played a large part in preventing Pledis from going bankrupt.
    The songs in order of performance in their Killing Voice are: "Adore U," "MANSAE," "Pretty U," "Oh My!" "A-TEEN" "Snap Shoot," "Run to You," "Don't Wanna Cry," "Home," "Our Dawn is Hotter than Day," "Darl+ing," "CLAP," "Left & Right," "HOT," and "Very Nice."
    Just like all the other Killing Voice performances you have watched, this showcases Seventeen's outstanding vocals, so what you are hearing is some of the best parts of their songs that highlight their vocal abilities. They debuted more than 9 years ago, so they have a lot of songs. You are only hearing a small fraction of them and only a few lines of each of the songs (And in some cases -- like with "Pretty U" -- they are singing lines from the middle of the song, so it may sound different when you listen to the actual song.) This is a LIVE performance with 100% live vocals.
    The way Killing Voice is set up, the last song -- unless it's an encore song -- in any Killing Voice performance video is the group's or artist's most recent song and the one they are promoting at the time of their performance, which is why they always sing the full song and not just a few lines. Therefore, as you saw, this was a comeback for their song "Hot" and we got to hear the whole song.
    Fun fact: Mansae doesn't really have a clear meaning, it's more of a cheer that you say in Korean when you are happy, similar to "hooray" in English.
    As they said, "A-Teen" was an OST (original soundtrack) song that was wrote for a Korean web drama series called A-Teen, so the song is telling the story of the characters in the drama, not talking about anything to do with the Seventeen members necessarily.
    One of the reasons they chose "Very Nice" as their encore song is because it is one of their most popular songs, and it's what has really made them famous. You can hear TV shows and commercials all over the place in Korea using this song. And on top of all that, it was wrote, composed and choreographed in part by them, so they are all reaping the rewards. :D
    For example, the majority of the songs you just heard were written by Woozi (the small blond with the "interesting voice") who is the leader of the vocal unit, with the help of the rest of the vocal unit -- Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan. Hoshi, who is the leader of the performance unit (dancers), most often creates the group's choreography along with input from the other members of the performance unit -- Jun, The8 and Dino. And S.Coups, who is the leader of Seventeen and the leader of the hip-hop unit, usually writes the rap sections with help from the other members of the hip-hop unit -- *Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon.
    Their line distribution is fairly even because they write most of their songs themselves, so they design their songs to fit each of their voices and that allows them to often choose their own parts in the songs.
    *Just so you know, Wonwoo -- the one with the long sleeve striped shirt w/glasses -- usually sings/raps a lot more and he has a much more outgoing personality, but he stood in the back most of the time during their Killing Voice because this performance was less than a month or so after his mom passed away, so he was still mourning her death. That's why he was less expressive and only participated in a few of the songs that were more difficult for the other members to cover his parts.
    Seventeen's name comes from the fact that they have 13 members + 3 sub-units (Vocal unit, performance unit and hip-hop unit) + they come together as 1 group = 17. Their fandom name is Carats -- like Seventeen carat diamonds. And their symbol is a diamond.
    To find 13 young men, who really didn't know each other before becoming a group, that are so multi-talented is impressive. And the fact that they are constantly able to come up with hit after hit and maintain one of the top spots in the industry all on their own, makes them even more mind blowing.
    Something you should also be aware of, is that Seventeen are known for their choreography and their dance practice videos, so when you watch their MVs, I recommend you combine your reaction with their dance practice videos. They are nicknamed "The Theatre Kids of Kpop," because they are so good at telling a story through their dance. Therefore, in order to really see what makes them extra special, you need to see their dance practice videos as well.

    - Artist of The Year DAESANG (grand price) 🏆
    - Visa Super Stage 🏆

      Yes, they won 2 out of 3 grand prizes. Finally getting the props they deserve. My fun fact: They're known as the "Theater Kids of KPop" and "KPop Performance Powerhouses". They're super close, having struggled for so many years under Pledis (their label) when the company was bankrupt. Now they're under Hybe as a sublabel. Their 10 year anniversary is in 2025. Unfortunately they have 9 members who will do their mandatory military service. One is already in and 3-4 will enter each year for the next couple of years. One is American, 2 are Chinese, and the leader destroyed his knee in 2023 so none of them are going. Whew. More than one fun fact I guess.

    Guy in the middle in the back in the black and white sweater is Wonwoo. He's part of the Hip Hop unit but doesn't do much here because it was his first activity after his mom unexpectedly passed. The group didn't want to pressure him so they didn't give him many lines. In case no one explained, Seventeen has several sub units. The main 3 are Vocal, led by Woozi; Performance, led by Hoshi; and Hip Hop, led by SCoups, who is also the general leader. There's also Seventeen Leaders and several other smaller groups, most noticably BSS, who had a massive hit in 2023 called Fighting. It was so popular the South Korean Olympic team made it their official song.

    If you want to get to know all the members individually, i highly recommend the super long seventeen guide (2023 version), but it's a huge commitment (3hrs+) so if you're just getting into seventeen, you can watch their MVs first! Plssss more seventeen. I reccomend super, fear, maestro, don’t wanna cry, rock with you
    The main vocalists are Seungkwan (3:25) and the guy who sings after him, DK, that you pointed out his growling. They are some of the best vocalist in the 3rd gen and honestly the kpop industry. Many people in the industry have pointed out how good their vocal technique is expecially Seungkwan.
    I would also like to say that Seventeen actually just won 5 MAMA awards. 2 of them being daesangs. Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. They debuted in 2015 so they have been around for almost 10 years and of course been together for 14+ years they’re bond is unbreakable which is why you see so much chemistry in the video not to mention they went through so much debut days and had to do almost everything themselves because their company was under bankruptcy.

    More Killing Voice please. I think you will enjoy Infinite, no subtitles unfortunately but still great fun to watch. This was great, I'm a new fan myself and still working on getting the right names with the right faces consistently. I'm about 90% there 😅 this is a big group for me and reminds me very much of my early Super Junior days. 7 I can pick up pretty easily if I focus, 9 is a little harder but I can manage without too much trouble. More than that and I get overwhelmed. What tends to happen is some members will stick out to me for some random reason and once I've reached 7 and there's still more than 3 members to go the remaining members just won't stick in my brain correctly for ages. The last song they sang was the infamous never ending aju nice. It's the encore that just keeps going at their concert until they feel like stopping. Experienced this myself recently it was fantastic!

    Two more great Killing Voice episodes you might be interested in, are for NCT 127 and NCT Dream. 😊 They're the label mates of SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet and Aespa.
    (Word to the wise on 127's tho, dude 4th from the left is no longer in the group bc he's a giant POS... so, best to ignore his existence. The KV episode is highly impressive tho and it's just wrong to throw the baby out with the dirty pos water. 😣)
