Baba does not know me but I met him as a child, I think I was about 8yrs old and I still remember him as a fair handsome man. I'm taken aback somehow, by Pa Adewale's gesture and response in this interview. I think, he's being economical with the truth, as he captioned his early life and music career, IMO (i may be wrong though). And he's not coherent, with his response.
He's too dramatic and most of the time in the interview, defeated and sounded too unserious with facts.
Again, I'm surprise, he's lost his voices. He's such a beautiful singer with velevet voice. There's so much, that have happened to him over time, which he seems not to want to reveal, IMO.

Oga Segun Adewale was trying to be economical with thr truth about being in Ife for four years studying medicine. His responses to the questions on his sorjourn in Ife do not add up. He doesn't need to embellish his story for it to be interesting. My two cents is that the man never attempted to study medicine. SSP's interview was far more enlightening and genuine that this. My apologies, if i offended anyone, i am a huge fan of both men, but this interview is not very honest for me.

Your comment was very succinct. I don't believe his brief stint in Ife as he claimed. Four years in the four walls of a university as the great Ife caliber, should reflect in his intellect.
The Mr Olofinjana, was my late mom's teacher in primary school Ifako, Agege, axis then. My mom's parents were amongst the first settlers in Arogangan village, Ifako, Agege. He's right about Mr Olofinjana, being his teacher.
The interviewer did his homework properly. I liked his interjection during the interview, which sometimes exposed the loopholes in Mr Segun's response.

He was born in 1949 and said he had joined music by 1967
That’s after being in Ife for four years.
    It doesn’t add up.
Ife was a fledgling university at that time period with no medical school.
The medical school started in 1971.
I read all of Prof Grillos articles when I was in the university on his vision for the school.

Another rumour i heard about Baba Segun Adewale was about his "false accomplishments" as a guitarist. In 1992, i was quite young and we had a neighbor in the same compound who back then, his name is Uncle Kayode and he was a musician, actually a guitarist and he plays for a band. I recalled back in 92, i was in the sitting room watching a live performance of Baba Segun Adewale with his band on tv and immediately Uncle Kayode quipped that Segun Adewale was a poor guitar player. And Immediately the camera was focused on Segun Adewale during a guitar instrumental interlude, and just at that instant, Baba Segun Adewale turned his back to the audience and camera so the camera and audience couldn't see his deficiency. That experience left an indelible mark on my young mind.
For a guitarist who was an accomplished musician and member of a band to criticize the skills of a leading artiste like Segun Adewale and while he was still talking we saw Baba's stylish backing of the audience and camera for an instrumental interlude. The story of this Uncle Kayode must be very plausible. 😅

I don't like the way the interviewer questioning Sir Segun Adewale like a cop questioning a criminal, especially with the way he folded his arms across his chest.

Mr. host, you own us ( public) an apology for hosting such an African veteran-actor, Segun Adewale, without keeping the interview in English.
Some of us felt disappointed not understanding the significance of the interview.

He met IK Dairo at Ibadan, he also met Atolagbe at Ibadan and all others he mentioned before Prince Adekunle. What time has he to attend all the schools he quoted. Can he ever combine academic with those escapades? I doubt it. A "boy" that claimed he ran away from home at early age, who then was his sponsor?

Great interview but i find some of his responses quite verbose, some conflicting like the price of Peugeot car in the early 80s was surely around N4,500...As such i find his tale about his 4 years stint at Ife Uni studying Medicine a bit suspicious and creative... but then i maybe wrong... My days in Radio Lagos in the late 70s to mid 80s afforded some of us unfettered access to these crooners and the industry at large.. Must say the interviewer is damn loaded with facts, he cant rail loaded with any fatty rubbish
